Anybody going to be interested in watching who goes to the Final Four this season in college basketball, a sport that I INSANELY love?

My obvious team of choice to go all the way this year is the SYRACUSE ORANGE! It will be their last year in the Big East Conference, as next season they will go directly to the Atlantic Coast Conference, along with Pittsburgh. Let's hope they exit the conference with a huge bang!

Also, in case you are curious, here's the current pre-season top 10 Power Rankings:

1. Kentucky

Not surprising. Highly overrated team with highly overrated recruits. Every year they have weaknesses, it's just most teams can't seem to handle their zone.

2. Indiana

Huge upsets were pulled off by Indiana last year, and none of their star players are going away this year either, so you can expect a Powerhouse team this season. Also, three players are coming in from the ESPN 100 recruit program.

3. Duke

Blegh. Duke. Let's just say I am not a fan of the Blue Devils.

4. Baylor

Baylor has C Isiah Austin, a 7' guard that makes Baylor one of the best defensive teams in the country. They also are one of the top 5 recruiting classes for all of college basketball. They fell short last year, but you can expect a bounce-back for the new freshmen coming in this year.

5. Syracuse

YEAH! Just as I expected. Even with favorite center Fab Melo suspended out of most of the NCAA tournament last year, Syracuse managed to make it into the Elite 8 with flying colors. With favorable shooter Trevor Cooney giving up the redshirt position this year, SU will continue to be a powerhouse.

6. UCLA

I don't know much about UCLA, but I know that they had a terrible season last year, but nevertheless, have a top favorite on this team this year, Shabazz Muhammad. He averaged 30 points and 10 rebounds in high school, not bad at all.

7. Michigan

I am a fan of the Wolverines. They have a top recruiting class and a massive defensive force.

8. UNC

Nope. Come on, their last season sucked.

9. Arizona

New recruits include: C Kaleb Tarczewski, PF Grant Jerrett, and PF Brandon Ashley. Those three incoming players give them size and depth inside the paint and will make Arizona a massive force.

10. Michigan State

Don't know much about Michigan State other than they lost in the Sweet 16 last year.

So, what are your views for this season? Anybody excited?

My thoughts:

No way Indiana stays at #1. I'll give you top 10 but not #1.

Don't really know about the other conferences besides the Big Ten

I hate Sparty, respect the hell out of Izzo and his legacy, but hate the program because duh, it's Sparty.

I'm really excited for Michigan. Most excited I've ever been. Beilein's finally got some players to ball for him. I'm expecting Sweet 16 minimum.

Michigan truly has a great program. I'll be really shocked if they don't at least pass the Sweet 16 this year.

Also, be on the lookout for Cornell this year. Apparently they have a top recruit whose 7' and have sort of recreated their offensive strategies used a couple of years ago when they were one of the first Ivy League schools to make it into the actual NCAA program. Man, when Jim Foote was on the team, they were exciting to watch.

Whoa whoa whoa...where's Ohio State? Weren't they pretty high up at the beginning of the season?

So, I'm totally biased, but Michigan shouldn't stay up for long. Ohio beat them last year first round...that's bad. Not as bad as Duke losing to Lehigh, but yeah.

After last year, I have no idea how to do my bracket when the time comes. Right now, I'll sit back, relax, watch basketball and wear my Buckeye Nut House Pants.

Ever since UK won the championship this year, a lot of locals have been trying to say that this is Louisville's year. Seems the rest of the nation isn't convinced.

I think UK will do well this year again, but I don't think they're going to repeat. As long as they clobber Louisville again in the regular season, I'll be happy.

THANK YOU for bumping this. I've been wanting to have a solid discussion on this season! :)

Here's the Top 10 Ranking Teams in the nation, provided by the AP Poll. I don't necessarily follow the Coaches Poll because that's loaded with bias.

RK TEAM RECORD PTS

1 Indiana (45) 8-0 1,605

2 Duke (20) 8-0 1,577

3 Michigan 7-0 1,467

4 Syracuse 5-0 1,384

5 Louisville 6-1 1,332

6 Florida 6-0 1,324

7 Ohio State 5-1 1,254

8 Arizona 5-0 1,190

9 Kansas 6-1 1,079

10 Gonzaga 8-0 1,054

UK isn't even ranked anymore, which while it is a shock to many fans I personally don't care. I hate their guts and I hope they don't even make it pass their own conference's championship haha. :P (Yeah, yeah, "love and tolerance" and all, but come on, I don't think that principle even applies to sports haha).

I'm so glad Ohio State is finally ranked. They put up a great game against Northern Kentucky. I'm just so mad that they lost to Duke, though. The refs in that game had some really shitty calls.

Indiana is doing alright but I don't think they'll be number 1 material give or take a few more weeks. They've had a really easy schedule.

Teams such as Michigan, Syracuse (Yeah!), Louisville (Who!), and Gonzaga are typically placed in these spots as previous seasons has taught us. I didn't catch the game between Louisville and Duke (which I wanted them to stomp) but I heard it was pretty fanatical.

I hated the Duke game. Any other refs and we could have won...

Oh, and we will beat Michigan. Ohio State just needs time to...recover. We lost Sullinger, but we can pull it together. It can't possibly be worse than the football Luke Fickell year...

Indiana may not stay #1 for long. They're good, but not that good. Maybe sweet 16 material, but never final 4. Duke, Syracuse and Louisville....I don't like Duke, and it'll be interesting to see the other two.

Right there with you on hating Duke, bro. :P

Indiana definitely won't advance far in the NCAA Tournament. I'd give them at least regional semifinals.

Ohio State and Michigan will be a close match-up. I honestly hope that Michigan wins (just because I think the players are slightly more talented), but OS will definitely give them a run for their money.

Me and my dad have season tickets for IU basketball this year and ever since 2004, and I've really enjoyed their season so far.  I however don't think they will hold on to #1, they've had some very close calls, especially in that game against Georgetown.

Finals week for most colleges. Syracuse plays again this Saturday, so I'm excited. Need a SU game, I'm suffering from withdrawal here!

Louisville is putting up a great fight too, although their match-up with Cincinnati will be an interesting one.

Also, the Big East loses another team! This time Marquette. Oh dear, will this conference suffer even more? >.>
