books Star Wars Expanded Universe Thread

I refuse to believe that I am the only Star Wars nerd here, so let us discuss the Star Wars EU.

 

I have to say, SWEU has to be one of the biggest and most well developed ever. There is just so much in it. Take any random scene from any of the movies, and the majority of the background characters have stories. Random dudes in the Mos Eisley Cantina all have fairly well developed stories.

 

Anyway, I've bee reading the Fate of the Jedi series lately. I wanted to find one of the major EU series, start at the first book, and actually read them in order. I read Vector Prime, it was okay, but I wasn't too impressed. Got hooked on Outcast, though, and am currently almost done with Allies. Once I finish this one, I'll go back and read the Legacy series, mainly because the more I read Fate, the more I want to actually read about what happened with Jacen

 

Anyway, who else love SWEU?

When I read via Wookiepedia that IG-88 was really in control of Death Star II during the Battle of Endor, I stopped taking the expanded universe seriously. There are some aspects of it I do indeed like, mainly Shadows of the Empire; most everything else is pretty bonkers, though. I haven't bothered to delve any deeper.
