Ok guys, remember when Sepia-chan tried to organize a Pokemon Tournament and forgot about it then I took over and we never started because we couldn't pick a time for it to battle. No? Well it happened, which is why I am going to try and organize another Pokemon Tournament which will be held on Pokemon Showdown. I know we could use Pokemon Online but frankly I hate that and haven't used it in a while.

Now lets go over a few rules:

1. We will be fighting in the Overused or "OU" Tier

 

2. NO UBER TIER POKEMON!!! Which means these Pokemon are banned http://www.smogon.com/bw/tiers/uber

 

3. You must have a Pokemon Showdown account to battle. In order to get one just click "Choose Name" in the upper right hand corner then do a battle. After it is over it should ask you to choose a password so it can save your data in the ladder. You can just do a random battle to start with so you don't have to take time to make a team.

 

4. As of now I am only accepting 12 people in addition to myself. So we will have 13 in all.

 

5. This isn't a rule per say but it is recommended that you use Smogon to help create your team if you aren't very good at this sort of thing. http://www.smogon.com/

 

If you are joining please tell me your Showdown username. When the tournament starts I will link to the bracket as well as replays of each match. Thankfully Pokemon Showdown now has a way of saving replays.

Why can't any tournament be for us hardcore DS-users? T_T It makes me kinda sad that I can't use my pro EV-trained Pokémon's D:

 

I dislike Pokémon Online and stuff like that because you don't need to be good at all to put together a decent team...

I would love to sign up but all my tourney pokes are in 4th gen as I just recently made the transition.

 

Whens the tourney perhaps I can make it by then.

I dislike Pokémon Online and stuff like that because you don't need to be good at all to put together a decent team...

 

The reason I'm using Pokemon Showdown is because

1. You can quickly make a team

2. You can save playbacks

3. We don;t have to take time to get everyone's friend codes etc.

4. Not all people will have to same game or will be able to connect

 

Over all it's just a lot easier to use things like Pokemon Showdown and Online.

I'd just like to say that the bottom part is kind of incorrect. Simulators do allow anyone to easily make and customize a team, but it takes someone who is "good" to make a decent original team and use it effectively (I would be very disappointed to see people using copypaste teams from the recent suspect ladder). Moreover, skill has little to nothing to do with one's ability to create a good team for cartridge play, as (not counting the likes of Pokesav) that is much more subject to the availability of certain Pokemon.

 

For example, take one person with access to only Pokemon Black, with no event Pokemon or Dream World. This person inherently misses out on version exclusives, most notably Reuniclus, as well as event Pokemon and anything not obtainable ingame. Someone with Pokemon White 2 and access to Dream World/Radar and all events for Gen V, however, can use Victini, Keldeo, Genesect, any and all Hidden Grotto Pokemon (such as Techniloom and Impostor Ditto), any and all Dream World Pokemon (Thick Fat Mamoswine, DrizzleToed, DroughtTales, etc.), the Therian formes (and by extension, Sheer Force Landorus), and even version exclusives like Reuniclus and other Pokemon available in BW2 that aren't available in BW. That isn't even getting into the matter of access to past generations of Pokemon, event and otherwise.

 

That aside, however, I'd like to point out that you guys can use Kyurem-B. Have fun with that.

 

I don't think I'll join, because I'm really busy and stuff. Even if I did, it looks like this wouldn't happen anyway judging from the apparent lack of interest. Maybe this bump will breathe some life into the thread...?
