OH my GOD!!

 

I love this OC... first of all, I loved the drawing, I find it flawless and neat. The pattern that you used with the background, the color of his mane, the color of his coat. Fantastic! he's interesting from head to toe! , I loved the HUGE hooves, dangelin' dis guy can surely giveh sum bucks in the teeth!

I love everything about him, I've read his story! and I'm fascinated! I want more drawings from him, I want to know more about him. He kinda looks like a pony from older times, and he also looks like lion trainer, who knows?

 

seriously this is one of the best OC's I've seen so far on here, because it has character, it's original, dem hooves, he's an earth pony XD

Barnabas' left fronthoof looks a bit small compared to the others (probably just unfortunate perspective, but maybe make a bit more hoof visible under the "anklehair")

Yeah, the perspective on his hoof is 3/4, I always have a bit of trouble with making that look right.

 

And of course I want your art, I LOVE seeing how other people portray my characters (I'm sure everyone loves that.)

Also the concept art is very well adapted to what kind of char you want to create so extra points for that.

 

If you evur are open to draw other peoples OC with this style please let me know I would love to have some of that for what I have in mind

I shall say it again, I really like your OC, and his ability with chemistry and phoenixes petting can grant him "powers" that he can't have as an earth ponies

Hate to criticize, but maybe drop the parts about Twilight and Fluttershy or clarify that they took part after the events of S1? The two did not seem to know anything about Phoenixes (Phoenixi?) at the time.

The parts with Fluttershy and Twilight actually took place before the show even begun.

 

Barnabas is 34, and I imagine Twilight and Fluttershy to be 24 and 22 (since they have jobs and live alone and stuff. I dunno.)

So the Twilight incident took place when he was 17 and she was 7, and the Fluttershy incident took place when he was 25 and she was 13. I'll go head and clarify that.

 

Also, phoenixes is indeed the correct plural.

 

Also also, I'm almost done with your Joan picture

EDIT : I should also probably clarify that, although he did talk to Fluttershy about his phoenixes, he didn't really go into their biology or rebirthing cycle, just about how they produced flame and what they did in his fireworks shows.
