How about your Friend Codes for your 3DS, guys?

 

I've got Kid Icarus if you guys wanna play or Mario Kart. Both games I strongly recommend. I had lots of fun with both games.

 

DLC? How does that work out on the 3DS? I wouldn't know because I kinda missed my chance of getting NSMB 2 on my 3DS.

And are there characters like Marth, Ike, Eirkia, Ephraim (Spelling?), and some other dudes I kinda forgot in past FE games I played? Are the DLC characters out yet? I'm planning to get it later today. I think it's a definite gogogogo for me. :3 I WILL NEVER TURN OFF PERMADEATH!

 

 

I want Animal Crossing too! Along with Luigi's Mansion... they should release stuff faster because my last 3DS game was KH:3D which was like a long long time ago.

So I got that instead, I am waiting for FE while playing this epic game. I'd recommend it to those people who have played at least the 4th Professor Layton game (which was on DS)

 

When you have time, pick up Professor Layton. Been a fan since Curious Village.

This is for those who own a Nintendo 3DS/3DS XL or are interested in getting one. What do you think of the system? What about the games? which 3DS model do you think is best?

 

Personally, I think the 3DS is the SNES of portables. S many good games, both from Nintendo and third parties. And the eshop as really grown. The 3D is really immersive. Games like Resident Evil: Revelations and Kid Icarus: Uprising really show what the handheld is capable.

 

I used to have the Flame Red 3DS, but then I upgraded to the Red/Black 3DS XL. Imo, the 3DS XL is certainly the superior model. Better grip, battery life, etc.

the system itself is great, and if you put mp3's on the included sd card, it works like an ipod

 

and dont even get me started on the games, its just fun, simple as that

They had FE but then they just ran out rather quickly.

 

The 3D on some games are really good. I have to commend Professor Layton, Kid Icarus, Super Mario 3D Land, and OoT 3D. They have really great 3D effects IMO.

A few things you should know about the 3DS:

 

1. Yes, you can store music on it. However, I don't recommend you do so unless you have no alternative. The problem that's most glaring to me is the lack of multitasking. You won't be able to play your music while you're playing a game, since only one app can be  operating at a time.

The volume is also an issue. Don't expect to be able to crank your music up all the way and rock out. At its highest setting, the 3DS volume is still pretty soft. 

 

2. eShop prices. I'll admit, I've been spoiled by Apple. I can get a lot of okay quality games on my iPod for less than a dollar. I say "okay"  because most iPod games (not all, but most) are either repetitive, un-inspired, or simply un-interesting. At least from my experience. You get what you pay for I suppose. But keep this in mind:

Cut the Rope is 99 cents on the app store. On the eShop, it's $4.99.

Mutant Mudds is 99 cents on the App Store. On the eShop, it's $8.99.

Angry birds Trilogy is $3.00 on the app store. It is a whopping $29.99 on the eShop.

Get my drift? Same games, WAY different prices. That said, the eShop has a handful of decent exclusives like Pushmo, Colors 3D, Ketzal's Corridors, Crimson Shroud, and Denpa Men. Plus, you get the option to purchase DsiWare titles as well, which is nice. 

 

3. The 3DS XL increases the screen size, but not the resolution of the games, which is a d*mn shame. The games still look decent, but if you look at both of the models side-by-side, you'll see a noticeable difference in the quality of the image resolution. It's like when you find an awesome picture on Google Images that you'd love to set as your desktop background, but the image is  just a tad too small. You use the " Stretch" option to compensate, and it ends up looking like...sh*t. Okay, it's not quite that bad, but it's still a little off-putting. I'd recommend the original 3DS model.

I don't think I would have the chance to pass again with the people that I have lol, I have found them mostly around malls, I've visited 3 different malls I believe, I think I got 2 from around I live.

 

I just wish I could have more access to personal info of the Mii's I found via streetpass, so I can have a way to contact their owners and be friends.

Same here. I've got a decent amount of streetpasses by visiting big shopping centers. During my senior year of high school I got to streetpass with about 4 kids on a daily basis. I only knew one of those kids, which is a shame, because I would've liked to have gotten to know some of the people I was streetpassing with so frequently. We had a few incredibly brief and unproductive virtual conversations using the EXTREMELY limited chat feature (Think Twitter, but with an even more unreasonably strict word limit. Nazi-like, almost), but needless to say, those conversations really didn't go anywhere, and we left them feeling socially and emotionally unsatisfied.

Just get the purple original, I have that one and it's fine, there's really no clear disadvantage between the original and XL imo, either is fine really.

Oh, I see, excuse me for misreading.

Anyway, I have to say I'm enjoying Fire Emblem Awakening a heavy amount, it just may end up being one of my favorite games of all time being the huge turn based strategy fan I have, it has literally everything I ever wanted out of the genre and more, I daresay it's the most essential game in all of the 3DS's library imo.

@, I wish my XL was purple, I liked the purple and the aqua blue, heck, I wish the XL was as beautiful as the normal one. The standard 3DS has a glossy sparkling build on the outside, it looks gorgeous, the XL has curved edged and with a normal plastic build on the outside *sigh*. Also I liked the little 3D light for the 3D slider, on the XL there's no cute light  

 

buuuuuut....

 

the screens are ridiculously HUGE, it's insane and I like it, so in the end I recommend the 3DS, I just wish it had more colors

HOHOHOLY crap. Fire Emblem is spectacular! It's even cheaper than US prices in my country! Double win! I just went through the intro actually just now. Finding it epic just watching it.

 

I hope that gameplay will just be as spectacular as ever. :3

I got a Red 3DS XL about a week ago. I really, really love it! My sister has the Zelda 3DS, and mine is certainly bigger, and has a better battery life.

Ironically enough, I can see the 3D effect better on the original than I can on the XL, and that's coming from someone who really can't see 3D images!

 

Card-wise, I own Sonic Generations and Mario and Sonic at the 2012 London Olympic Games. I got PokeDex 3D Pro, Pokemon Dream Radar and Kirby's Adventure off eShop, and a couple Virtual Console games. And none of that counts my rather small DS library!

 

I really got it to get ready for Pokemon X & Y, but I'm really enjoying all the games it has so far.

I saw the nintendo direct and it was pretty cool, they revealed some cool games that I had no idea that they were in development. I played the original Mario and Luigi superstar saga for the GBA and I liked it at first but got bored of it, when I wanted to get back on track with it, I just couldn't, I would had to start the game again.

I hate golf so that Mario Golf is one game wasted (though I would be masochistic enough to buy it.)

 

I just want them to give a clue of the new smash, I can't wait for that dammit!

Well Sparky, I got a Wii U a few weeks ago, so my nintendo 3DS was having a bit of a break.  I have been playing 3DS alot more lately, and will surely be playing it during vacation.
