Request for help: a simple Photoshop project

Hi, guys. I'm writing a short story to submit to FiMFic.net, and I am trying to put together just the right cover image. Unfortunately, I'm on a business trip and my netbook doesn't have Photoshop or any kind of decent imaging software. Even if it did, I'm not so sure it could run it anyways (very limited hardware).

 

So I'm reaching out to my fellow Bronies! All I'm looking at doing is taking the following screen shot, and adding some blood dripping off her hoof. The idea is for it to look like she stepped in a small puddle of blood. Nothing too gratuitous, but enough to be noticeable when the image is scaled down to thumbnail size.

 

 

I think it's only fair to mention that the story itself will be tagged "dark" (for violence and cruelty) and "mature" (for some brief, non-cloppy sexual content). Whoever helps me out will get artistic credit, of course. Thanks a bunch!

How about this? Not my best work but whatever. Will this be sufficient? I'm guess not but either way here you go. I tried at the very least.

EDIT: quick suggestion...there shouldn't be a LOT of blood...its previous owner wasn't very big.

This one is kind of the blunt beating spatter, with more blood closer to the point of impact. I don't know, I'll just keep trying to get it right with different techniques until we see what works. Could you be more specific with your request?

Good idea with the spatter, and I really like the idea of a barely visible pool in the background. I don't want any kind of body to be visible...just the hint that something very ugly just happened, and she's contemplating it with the detached complacency that only an immortal can.

 

I envision blood encrusting the edge of her crystal slipper, and maybe not so much splatter along a part of her foot that wasn't directly involved in the impact.

 

Looking really nice! So far I like...

 

Supreme's use of a pool faintly visible in the background, and...

Dashey's work with the blood splattered around the tip of her hoof. For it to be perfect, the blood should be around the entire rim of her hoof, which is what would be expected if it was briefly submerged. The splatters are good, too!

 

EDIT: maybe some slight splatters on her chest...the source of impact would have been at ground level, splattering upward.

How about this? I added a blood pool. I think my attempt came out at the very least decent looking, wouldn't you agree? I also like Dashie's attempt. I don't know, I think the main difference is that mine has more blood in it.

It also has blood all along the ridge of the hoof showing it was submerged in the puddle.

You guys are great. I'm really blown away by the creativity, quality and speed of your work! The story will be ready for submission soon (the next couple hours), and I'll be looking for an editor/proof-reader too. Seriously...for all that I'm a curmudgeon sometimes, I love this community.

Please keep the splatter on her cheek. She's strangely beautiful with blood on her face. Seems thematically appropriate.

Good catch! The screen shot was from S2E4 during her conversation with Twi, while they were on the bridge. Part of the reason I picked that screen shot was because that part of my story takes place near the water.
