He felt a skipe there, Iron Wing noticed the subject and she asked, too late to avoid the topic, “She is your friend right? she can now… at least some part of it” were his thoughts, and he was right, the Pegasus showed him trust and care before the least he could do was returning the favor.

 

“I was hatched and raised by a couple of earth ponies in a fruit farm on the south end of Equestira, magnificent parents, they took me in as their own offspring showed me the things that matter in life and making me the Dragon I’m today” he stopped there the next part was not as simple and it carried a lot more secrets that the ones he could sustain “…then I had to… leave, somepony could say I messed up some things back there but for me it was unmessable . . These days on Ponyville have make me feel like back then. The farm, the work, somepony to care about… a little too much of a home for 4 days in town” he said smiling with a spice of good irony in his words.

"Now off to Canterlot do try to keep up,"

 

"Canterlot? " she replied. "There is no delivery to canterlot sugar! Just once in a month but i haven´t finished the work yet!" she shouted after Draco hoping that he would hear her. "It´s just the magazines. If you are finished with that, meet me cafe! Have to prepare something for our business contract and stuff!" Blaze said, waving to Draco. He surely was a nice one but he didn´t listen carefully. Since he was her new delivery pony, she would spend a lot of time with him planning routes, delivery dates and other stuff. And she planned to spend some freetime with him, after all she wanted to know everypony she was dealing with. "I´ll return for some planning! Meet me at the cafe on 6 pm! Don´t come too late!" she said giggling, returning to the Ponyville Cafe.

"So thats a rough summary, huh?" she answered to Colt. "You don´t have to tell me everything if you don´t want to. About your start in Ponyville... i think every creature has to get a second chance. Even if it´s just 4 days since your arrival, home is there where you feel at home, and i´ll help you feeling more comfortable within this town!" Iron said to the dragon. Of course he wouldn´t tell everything, they knew each other only for about 3 or 4 days. But she was sure that he would fit in this town. There lived so many nice ponies here, Colt would make a lot of friends within time. "If you ever need anything, you can come here. I´ll help you with any problem you may encounter!" Iron said confident. She went to her mailbox and returned shortly after getting her mail. She opened an envelope with a military stamp on it and read it. "Hmm... Duran, get this up to the ready room. Mission starting tonight 12 pm..." she said to the lynx. The cat pet got the mail within his mouth and ran up to start some preparations.

Draco followed her as he heard he didn't have to go to Canterlot"So no delivery to Canterlot.. Thank my ancesters I hate delivering there but I'll always have too you know" Draco said as he flew after Blazin. He was humming a slight tune to himself as he did a good job. "Let me be surprised," he saing softly.

"That's not a fair payment" Saphina said as she locked the apothecaries door, but Sky didn't reply. "And you said that you're stingy" she thought and smiled as she followed Sky along the street of Ponyville. another moment of silence occurred, and she felt the same feeling she got before. comfy, lively and safe. she watched the stallion in front of him with a warm smile on her face. Sky walked so slow and calm, but there was something about his gesture who made him looks like something with grace and wisdom. she followed the silver maned stallion until they reached the cafe and looked around for a seat.

“Home…” he whispered and for a second the word stager him, it has been so long since he had a place like that, a place to return a place to be happy, Iron Wing was right this could be that place, still too soon to take it as it has only been 4 days but his start at Ponyville was much more of what he could have expected.

 

“I know I have a shelter and a guardian in this tower still more important friends” once again he shook, in a nice way, “Thanx for living this door oppen” as Colt said this the armored mare was reading her mail he noticed a spike once again as she got the message.

 

“Can I keep around until you depart, I want make sure your take off is safe” he said after she issue instructions to the lynx.  “After all if something goes wrong you better have somepony to catch you” Colt requested knowing that Iron believed she was the only one able to carry herself and her armor but believing that she did not recall the time he took her to safe ground at Everfree.

Blazing Storm arrived at the Cafe in Ponyville and she noticed some other ponies had gathered there already. She did not remark that Draco had followed her. She believed that he was on with the magazines, because this task should take a while. Blaze entered the Cafe and greeted the other ponies. She noticed an unicorn following a silver maned blue stallion, looking for some seats. "Greetings to you both!" Blaze said to them before searching for a place to sit down. She pulled out the list with her tasks she had to do. "Hmmm... look for the apothecary in this town and... go to the library perhaps..."

Iron Wing looked at Colt for a moment. "Hmmm... i guess thats no problem at all, just make yourself comfortable. But i have to prepare some things for my duty aswell. You can follow me if you want to." Iron answered the dragon. She finished the cup of coffee and walked out of the living room, up to the preparation chamber. Duran had already started with planning the route she would take and made some reports for the military journal. Iron Wing placed the orders on the table, leaving them half open. She took off her armor and changed into another armor, also some other parts of her normal equipment. Even the dragon could notice that the new armor served another purpose than Iron Wings normal armor. This was a lightly armor with almost no weight, also the wing parts changed for more velocity and height. The gear Iron Wing prepared was designed for very fast flying and for very high altitude. She also got some items ready that were locked within a weapon locker. "So, have you every been through physical dangers Colt?" she asked the Dragon directly.

Sky Warden turned back when he heard somepony shouted behind him. "Who the hay are ye?" He thought as he saw a dark red pegasus with wavy white and orange mane. He clucked and tried to put a kind expression on his face, but still, "Oh, Aye. Say, I've never spied ye before. New 'eh?". He rose his eyebrow as he observed the mare.

Draco finished his deliveries with in an hour as he flew across Ponyville quickly. When he said he was the best he never lied or fibbed. He had time to burn so he just hovered in the aire enjoying the feeling of flight. The air beneath his large wings and the warm air blowing through his mane.

“You will not notice I’m here” the dragon said, he didn’t wanted to delay her mission just to be sure that she would be able to take flight with no problems.

 

She was getting ready as Colt just took his time to enjoy the coffee as the mare guardian came back Colt noticed a new armor on her friend, light and slick this new armor appeared to be a whole much lighter. “It looks like she is going on a more stealthy mission” were his thoughts as Iron Wing continued the preparations for her mission.

 

"So, have you every been through physical dangers Colt?"

 

 

“Physical dangers?” he paused for a second, his mind went on two directions at the same time on one he thought on how much he enjoyed the direct sincerity on his new pegasus friend while the other went back to many memories of him under certain circumstances that came close to the description from Iron Wing.

 

That split second was very long on Colt’s mind although in the conversation was almost imperceptible   “Well other than the ones yesterday you can say I have found myself on a couple of dangerous situations, but I think filly luck has been on my side” he said while smiling to the mare. "I've been traveling on Equestrian for some time now, so it was kind of unavoidable as I don’t like to take the pony transportation"

 

“How about you, how long have you been in the force?” he asked

She looked to the blue stallion as he asked his question about her beeing new in Ponyville. "Well yeah, i am new here, visiting a friend and looking for a house. I´ll move to Ponyville and i thought would be nice to look around here before i decide some things. But perhaps you can help me. I am searching an apothecary, a library and the southern watchtower that was built here some weeks ago." she answered him with a little smile. The unicorn that was following the blue stallion didn´t say a word until now. Perhaps she was in thoughts or something like that.

Iron Wing listened to Colt as he was telling about filly luck and she had to smile a bit. Then the dragon asked her how long she has been a guardian now. "I am in training since my 12th birthday and completed it with 14. So i am a guardian since 8 years in total, half of my life you could say. That makes me not a guardian veteran, but i have experienced all things i need to know about this job. From border guard to flight patrol i have done everything, and i am combat experienced to, fighting monsters, country enemies or even criminal ponies." she explained to the dragon. Of course Colt was older than her, counted in years of course, so he would have more life experience than her. A dragon was a mysterious magical creature that had a bigger life span than a pony, more magical power than most unicorns and of course was very strong. But a pony could develope powers deep within aswell and Iron Wing kept to train every day because she wanted to be the strongest. She wasn´t even afraid of fighting a wild dragon if she had to. But know she was more concerned about her mission.

The dragon listened to her words and played attention to her moves and other things as speaking,  it was clear Iron Wing was proud about being a guardian and she showed that in a lot of curious ways, it was amusing. Then Colt listened to the combat + monsters + criminal part, in a way sadden him a little, it was a shame that in such a magnificent an peaceful era there were some souls still scar by the touch of conflict. “Monters… like me?” were his thoughts in that instant but the idea was quickly vanished as he realized that all of that had tempered and made the Iron Wing in front of her the one he knew and the one he wouldn’t change.

 

As the explanation continued Colt’s mind was taking in and processing what his winged friend told him getting more of her and knowing the pegasus better. Then it happened again his mouth reflected the ideas on his mind unwillingly .

 

“What is what you will to protect?”  face palming as Iron Wing was not looking “Great… you said you won’t be a bother on her preparations and now you spill that” he thought also working about those words coming out of his mouth

"What i am gonna protect? I protect the inhabitants of this country from every harming monster, enemy or situation. That includes my friends, my family and everyone close to me." Iron answered on Colts question. "Perhaps it sounds laughable to you if a pony wants to protect you, but thats my beloved duty..." she said, while she was mounting a helmet on her head. A little alarm sound was heared within the tower. "Ah, Duran has prepared everything for takeoff...." she said and looked at a clock. "Well, it isn´t 12 pm, but the faster i get into the air, the faster i get home again." she said grinning. "Want to come upstairs too?" she asked as she walked up towards the flight deck of the tower.

 

Iron Wing arrived at the flight deck and looked at the little lynx. He had prepared to come with her owner, wearing a little helmet with flight googles. He surely looked cute with this, but Iron shook her head. "No little friend, this is no patrol at all. You know what to do." she said to the cat and cuddled him a bit. She stepped up the ramp that was leaded to the hangar door. If the hangar door would open the starting platform would be ready for her takeoff. The lynx jumped at a lever and a loud alarm went on, warning every pony in tower range that a pony prepared for flight.

Speedway had reached an incredible speed, and by now had clean forgotten about the passing ponies. He was in his own world, flashing back to childhood races in the city...

 

Then there was a loud noise, a siren coming hitting him like a wall.

 

Speedway skidded in shock, swerving into a tower above him. Since when were there speed police! But there were no guards, only shocked ponies. Embarrassed, Speedway stood carefully.

The dragon regain composure after Iron’s answer he then surprised on the statement that followed.

 

“I don’t found laughable you consider me as someone close to you” little blush “For me that’s no less than a treasure” he continued as following her to the top of the tower.

 

"No little friend, this is no patrol at all. You know what to do."

 

Those words created a little concern on the dragon, she was not wearing her normal armor and not taking Duran either his imagination flew to some bad situations but Colt came back to offer help.

 

“You won’t need back up on this one right Iron?” he asked with some unease in his voice.

 

As he asked that he stood out the platform waiting for the pegasus to spread her wings and take flight, he was ready to assist her if needed, after all it was less than a day of recovery.

Iron looked at the dragon who had a concerned expression on his face. "Back up would be nice, but this is a one person recon mission. I won´t have comrades or wingman on this one. You should not worry about me and just meet other ponies while i am gone. Oh, i nearly forgot! A friend of mine is going to visit me soon, her name is Blazing Storm. She will stay over night, so she is allowed to enter the tower. Just that you know that." she said to Colt. The hangar doors opened and the starting platform extended. "See you soon!" she said and run the ramp down to the platform, spreading her wings and taking off.

 

But Iron Wing noticed a pegasus who had shortened wings and was something like... frightened? The stallion pegasus had a cutie mark with a spiralling road and there were some shocked ponies down there too. She delayed her mission and got closer to the pegasus. Was he a criminal? "You there!" Iron Wing shouted with a hard voice while approaching him. "Identify yourself!" she said while starting to land near the unknown pony.

The words and wings of Iron cleaned all of his worries. She was not going for a dangerous mission and she was again on the air showing her strength and will were truly forces to be reckon with. But then he noticed something else and she went down, flying not falling towards another pony.

 

 “Duran please close the platform” he said just before diving in their direction and landed not far from them.  As soon as he touched land his wings folded back to his coat and hood

 

“Is this the friend you were talking about?” he asked to Iron Wing still staying in the shadows of the night.

"Oh, I found him under a tree somewhere.  He looked scared...like now," she said, looking down at the bunny.  Actually, now it seemed more angry then afraid.  "Er...do bunnies usually bite ponies?" she asked uneasily, staring at the angry bunnies mouth.  I shouldn't lift it into the air.  I might drop it.

"Hmmm... I'm not too familar with bunnies, so I really don't know... I wouldn't think so though.  Maybe you can ask the pony that might know who is the owner?"  They were getting close to Fluttershy's cottage now.  I think that she's more shy than even Angel if I remember correctly...

Draco landed at the cafe as he ordered another coffee and a muffin "Hmm Star Mare's coffee is always good for the soul but doesn't even ease the loneliness," Draco mutter to himself as he waited for his order. He smiled as he got done with his delivery now he just needed to wait for the mare.

Iron Wing approached the red pegasus, observing him with judging eyes from hoove up to the mane. Then the pegasus said something about a speed limit. Now that he was talking about speed she knew what was going on. The shortened wings and his fear against guardian ponies... he was a street racer. Iron sighed and looked at the stallion who was feeling sorry and lowered his head. She grinned a bit and looked at the speeder. "There is no speed limit here, but you should be attentive about the other ponies that are walking and flying here. If you speed up to a velocity were you cannot brake that easily, you could hurt someone. I will let you go without any punishment but with a fair warning. I tell you what, there are some ponies just like you with the love of speed. You could challenge them. Racing is allowed in the nearby areas around Ponyville. Just keep in mind that you cannot race within the town." she said with a friendly tone in her voice.

 

"Even i love to fly high and fast, but i always look out for other ponies or creatures i could bump into." she continued. This red pegasus would be the best opponent against Blazing Storm or Draco. Iron Wing bet they would love to race against this one. "What is your name?" she asked him.

Oh hey I forgot I ordered a blueberry muffin,"

Speedway was grateful for Iron Wing's kindness, and he felt his fear melt away. "My name is Speedway. Thanks again... for being so lenient. I'll avoid flying while I'm here, it always seems to lead to trouble. As for racing... I quit that when I left Manehattan."

Neither Iron Wing nor her friend seemed to listen to the dragon’s question so he just back off and went back to Sweet Apple Acres.

 

The  sky was the only place where he could feel free to open his wings and be free of his fears, under the sky lights he was able to be himself and enjoy the blessing of his dragon wings.

 

He landed on the barn where the Apple’s set his “room” and enjoyed the calm sounds and breeze. He was happy he truly was and his life on this new place was just beginning.

[Vedana Purity 221]

Vedana was at Sweet Apple Acres for a while, helping out with the farm anyway he can. The blind unicorn smiled when witnessing Colt flying to the Apples house. "Another charming fellow indeed." Vedana said as he trotted to Big Mac, unloading another large patch of apples.
