Somber's thoughts of trying to conceal his identity were interrupted by a knock on his door. Fixing the paint to where it was passable as a zebra, he walked over to the door, going into Oak Branch. Turns out, it was Moonbeam at his door. What a surprise.

 

"Yes, can I help you?"

"you know, you could always just ask others, and stop bieng afraid." bright spark was looking through the window to somber. "im sure that i can find a way of convincing the chief to un-slave you. is un-slave even a word? i dunno i never did well in english." he said.

Rose watched Moonbeam chase the strangely familiar-looking colt away from the springs, and decided there was nothing she could do. She contented herself to sit in the water, and relax a bit. The water felt good on her leg. 

 

She looked up, delighted, when Stacy decided to join them in the pool. "Changed your mind, have you?" she asked cheerfully.

Stacy opened her eyes when rose spoke to her. "Well i figured since i got splashed on..." She said gesturing in the direction of the figure, "I'd might as well get in. Who was that anyways?" She asked turning in that direction to see if she could get a good look at them.

Rose sat up again, trying to get another look at the colt. He and Moonbeam were out of sight now, however. "I don't know for sure, but from a distance... It looked a hay of a lot like Somber." Reclining slightly, Rose glanced at Star out of the corner of her eye. "Did you get a good look at him, Star? You've been awfully quiet..."

Firecracker suddenly awoke, he checked the place where the burn was, it wasn't as irritating as yesterday, but he knew it was getting better. "Whoops, I got up late." he said. He decided to cool off by cool off by going to the hot spring. After that he headed back to the village. he saw Moonbeam  knocking on the door where Oak/Somber was, then, a zebra came out of the door. From his face. Firecracker felt suspicious. "Isn't that zebra look familiar  He seems a bit nervous... Could Somber really be dead?" he thought. He went up to Oak/Somber and Moonbeam. He then asked Oak/Somber that he looked familiar to him.

"I do not know why you keep referring to me as this "Somber" that you all know. My name is Oak Branch. And I cannot help it if I happen to be very familiar to him.", Oak/Somber said to the new pony that had just appeared.

Stacy looked back at rose with a smile and said quietly to her, "Hey, im gana go so you and star can have that conversation you were wanting." She then got up and steped out of the hot spring. Stacy to a few steps forward then shook herself off and looked back at rose. "Stop by my hut if you want after youre done. See you later Star." Stacy then trotted off to the beach to gather more things from there.

"Hi, Somber. What's up with the whole zebra disguise?" Moonbeam asked in an innocent, yet very direct way. She absent-mindedly walked right past him into the hut. Before he could answer she said, "Oh, yeah, we found your guitar if you want it. With talent like yours, its a shame you aren't able to play music."

"So you ARE Somber." Firecracker said to him "Hey, did you know at that open mic night I listened to you playing your guitar?" 

 

Staletate got up from unconsciousness. "Owwwww......" he moaned. Feeling the hurt after he got tased by Tailgate. He acknowledged that Tailgate was the one who did it and he was currently snoring. he tried to wake him and yell at him when Tailgate became aware and put his hoove into Staletate's mouth.

Oak/Somber was starting to get very annoyed by this. His calm expression had grown to a bit of a scorn glare. 

 

"Why do you all keep calling me "Somber"? I am not Somber! I am Oak Branch! I do not even know who this Somber is! Now, could you please stop this? It is getting very irritating...."

"Okay... See you later, Stacy." Rose watched Stacy as she left, and turned to Star. "I thought I'd talk to you, because I didn't know anypony else, and you're easy to talk to. We're a lot alike. It's.. slightly less urgent for us to have our talk now than it was this morning.  But, I imagine you'd like to hear everything from the beginning anyway?" She leaned back, pausing for a moment for Star to respond. This hot springs really did feel heavenly to her injured leg.

Star waved at Stacy as she walked off. "Thank Celestia they aren't talking about Somber anymore." She thought, As Rose spoke.

"Even if it isn't as urgent as it was... I am sure you still want to get it off your back so... Shoot." She said, Happily. "This will probably have something to do with Stacy and Bright Spark." She thought.

Rose proceeded to tell Star about the whole love quadrangle she had found herself in on the ship, with Bright Spark, Stacy, and Morningstar, and about how the last of those points had drifted away from her in the ocean, to leave it once again a triangle. "I don't know who to choose, Star. I'm not used to all this attention. They said they'd both be fine with my choice either way, but I still don't know who to choose. And I can tell my indecision is tearing at their patience. What do I do?" A fair amount of distress was audible in the last sentence she utters.

"Well you sure look like Somber. You sound like Somber." Moonbeam put her nose uncomfortably close to Somber and inhaled. "You smell like Somber. And I've never met a zebra that could change his stripes," remarked Moonbeam, noticing the rushed paint job.

 

"Why are you doing this? We missed you. Star loved you," she said with a frown.

Stacy made it to the beach an took a second to see how much they left behind. *wow...*she thought to herself and began looking for anything important or usefull. As she was walking she came across the ocarina star had given her. Stacy chuckled on the inside as she picked it up to play. She blew into the mouth piece and sea water squirted into her face. "A-ahh! Gross!" She yelled as she shook the rest of the water out of it. Stacy looked around to see if she could find anything else. "Ohh, potatos!" She said as she picked up an unopen can. "Man, the tribe sure missed out on alot stuff." She again looked around at all the trash left behind from thier quick capture.

"I... Uh, I...."

 

Somber tried a last ditch attempt to escape from this situation by jumping out the window and flying away. Except that his wing was still bruised from the springs incident earlier, and he immediately bely flopped the ground, causing a thud. He looked back to Moonbeam, and just ran through the jungle. He needed to find Star. Just her, and no one else...

"Spark! Firecracker! We have to find Star and tell her about this!" Moonbeam exclaimed, grabbing them both by the hooves and running off randomly into the jungle in the general direction of the hot spring. She wondered even more about what would motivate Somber to act like this. Regardless, they had to find a way to help everyone and get off of this island together.

Star sat in silence then said. "I am going to say what everypony says in the stories... Rose, Listen to your heart. It wont lead you astray." She said, Putting her hoof on Roses shoulder. "Or, You could say no to both of them, There is still the option of saying you just want to be friends." She smiled. "I Usually dont give good advice but... Thats all I can think of."

As soon as he saw Somber run off into the jungle, in the direction where the hot spring was, Moonbeam gave him direction that he and Spark would have to find Star. Moonbeam then grabbed them by the hooves and Firecracker in no time at all ran along side her.

With his wing still hurting him, Somber had to rely on his running skills to find Star... Luckily, as he past the hot springs, he could see Star along with the disabled pony. Trying to get her attention without revealing too much, he got to where Star could see him, but not the other pony. Then, with his good wing, he started waving it around, motioning for her to come to him into a small hiding place with him to talk.

"alright alright! geez hang on." Bright Spark Said as they ran to the hotspring. "im not sure but, i think sombers a slave here. but i have a plan if thats true." What He wanted to know is how he had even survived the ship sinking in the first place. but thats a question for later.

Rose looked down. "Go with what my heart decides..." she murmured. She was going to have to think for a while, without either Spark or Stacy there to sway her. "Thanks for listening, Star," Rose said, just as quietly. "Someone's over there trying to get your attention, but I'm not invited." She lifted a soggy tail out of the pool and, without looking, flicked it behind her, towards the faux zebra who was trying so hard to get Star's attention.

Star glanced over at the bushes. "Ok Rose, I will be right back." She hugged Rose then climbed out of the spring and trotted over to Somber. "My wing is feeling much better." She thought, Stopping before she got to the bushes and shaking off all the extra water. "Hi Somber." She said, Sitting down next to him in the bushes.

Somber sighed as he concealed the bushes over the duo, to where it was extremely difficult for them to be spotted.

 

"Star, we-- mainly, I-- have another problem. Moonbeam saw through the disguise. And Spark. And Firecracker. They're all on their way to find you and tell you about me. Could I ask if you could lie?"
