Now, he was mad. Short Fuse got into the pony's face, to what looked like steam coming from his ears.

 

"What am I doing in the freak show? Oh, you really want to know? I'm in the freak show because some ponies here like to LAUGH and DEGRADE others for their own amusement!"

Flame Lauged. "Apparently you have never been to our Circus...The freak show is actually quite the interesting group...And ponies dont laugh, In fact you will most likely get lots of Oos and Aaahs...But with that attitude...I think you may be right. You need to Relax and know that you are among friends...Cirque De l'Amour has a wonderful freak show and afterwords allot of the ponies part of it go out and chat with the crowd...They are quite the interesting bunch." He patted the pony on the back. "The names Flame Dancer...Pleased to meet you, This is Rag." He gave another friendly smile and held out his hoof to shake Short Fuse's.

Rag smiled, and extended her hoof to shake, too. "My brother and I aren't in the freak show, but we're certainly laughed at, and degraded more than you are. We're clowns. We don't mind, though. The best way to keep it from reaching you is to laugh with them." She was slightly nervous that this pony would be hostile no matter what she had to say. Her sapphire eyes scanned his face, watching for the tale-tell signs of an explosion waiting to happen.

That was the last straw for Short Fuse. He pinned Flame Dancer to the ground, glaring right at him. 

 

"Were YOU just laughing at me? Were YOU JUST LAUGHING AT ME?!", he yelled out, his broken horn starting to emit white from the wig. "You don't even KNOW WHAT I WENT THROUGH. YOU TRY BEING RIDICULED FOR MANY YEARS BECAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT. YOU TRY HAVING TO STAY 12 WEEKS IN THE HOSPITAL ON THE VERGE OF LIFE OR DEATH. YOU TRY TO GO THROUGH 12 DIFFERENT PAINFUL SURGERIES, JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX YOU!"

 

He ripped off his wig, showing his broken horn. Sure enough, it wasn't a regular horn. The bone had stuck out like a sore thumb. Even the bone had begun to glow white...

 

"TRY TO GO SO MANY YEARS WITHOUT GETTING PICKED ON, WITHOUT BEING RIDICULED. GO THROUGH MY PAIN! AND THEN WE'LL SEE WHO'S LAUGHING THEN!"

 

At this point, tears were flowing through his eyes, as he got off of Flame Dancer, glared at Rag, and slowly walked away from the scene.

Rag really had to put forth... almost a physical effort not to attack Short Fuse herself. The nerve of him... He seemed engulfed in his own personal tragedy, when he wasn't alone in suffering... Her mind immersed in dark thoughts and bad memories, she didn't notice Flame had returned until he spoke to her. She tried to smile back, and walked away from Short Fuse, with Flame, dismissively. "Yeah... We should probably be getting back," she said, forcing her voice to sound calm. She hoped Tag had prepared by now...

 

Tag felt a twinge of unease. He knew that feeling. Someone had gotten on Rag's bad side. He hoped that she hadn't torn whoever it was apart, as he finished blowing up that gigantic, star-spangled beach ball. His face nearly matched his mane.

Bob was making his way over to the Doggem area when three stallions approached him and addressed him."Hy, Bob, remember us"? Bob tried to walk away from them because he knew them and he didn't get along with them, they tried to keep him from leaving. "where are you going blank flank"? Bob hated being called that but there was nothing he could do except back up into a corner he wished that some pony soon would help out.

Descant nodded. "True, true. I'm not overly fond of heights. I'm glad I have somepony to hold my hoof..." He blushed. "Well, maybe not literally..."

Instead of waving back, Chamois just slumped off.  If he dares come near my tent, I might have to kick his butt,  she thought moodily.  She made her way towards her seat where she would be giving the caricatures.  She sat down and pulled a kit from her saddle bag.  She snapped it open and the top rose, realizing a complete art kit.

Never could stand talking about, whatever the mares talked about. So I hung around and talked about sport. Still never made many friends though, but what you gunna do?"

Smiling, Chamois touched a piece of her vine charcoal delicately.  She pulled the piece out and flipped open a sketch book to an empty page.  She set down the charcoal onto the paper and flipped over an Open sign.  She leaned forward expectantly.  C'mon, somepony.

 

 

(BTW: I'll be gone on holiday for three whole days.  I'm not sure if I'll have access to the internet yet.  If I don't, I won't be able to post (obviously).  But if I do, I won't be able to post as often as usual.

Descant followed Dash onto the the ferris wheel, which lurched as he sat down. Uncomfortably, he gripped the seat as it started moving them up and around, then force himself to relax. Dash was right; he sort of wished he had something to eat to occupy himself. "Y-yeah, let's get some cotton candy when the ride's over." The wheel stopped when their cart was towards the upper front of the wheel, giving them a respectable view of the circus. He sighed, and casually left his hoof on the seat between them, almost as an invitation. He wondered if she would even notice.

Short Fuse had just looked at them, glaring before they left. Only one sentence escaped his mouth.

 

"I'm sorry..."

 

He walked back over to the circus tent, looking at the sign. "Freak Show." This must be the place... He walked inside, seeing the rest of the members getting ready. Some of them had taken a good look at him. All Short Fuse had heard was laughter... In reality, everyone was in awe by his horn... He just ran out, leaving the members confused. He kept running until he got to the same table he was at before, not sure whether to become really angry, or cry. He put back on the wig, and put his head down.

Rockshire sat down on the bench with Umbra, still laughing a little from her fun time with him on the dodg'ems. It wasn't long until somepony had came up and started to identify Umbra. She looked at this new pony, confused.

Umbra looked up at the pony with a frown. "Um, h-hello there? D-do I know you? I haven't seen you before. But I guess we might have met. I t-travel a bit" He explained "A-anyhow Rocky how about I take you to see the show?"

Umbra really didn't recognise her for reasons she'd never found out. On the way home to Hop one day he'd crashed, slamming his head into a wall, resulting in amnesia. He'd remember everything eventually, but what then?

The bandage from his injury was just visible under his mane.

Descant's nerves had gotten the better of him. The wheel moving again had brought his mind out of the fantasy world he had pulled himself into, and brought back all of his doubts and fears. Sure, he was still there with Electro Dash, his hooves wrapped up in hers, but... He couldn't find the nerve to make himself go for it. He sighed, and apologised. "Dash, you're really nice and all, but we did just meet. I shouldn't be pushing it like this. I'm sorry." He pulled his hooves back from hers, and sat meekly, immersed in old memories. He couldn't believe he'd done that... He was usually too terrified to be so forward. He'd scared away a pony before who might have been a great friend if he hadn't gone and ruined it...

"I, uh-- Oh, all right...", Rockshire merely said to Umbra, as he walked off with this new mare. Immediately she felt a good amount of jealously arousing in her. A tad bit of revenge was present, but she decided to keep it down.

Hop took one last glance at the mare who seemed to be a little jealous, then followed Umbra. When he stopped Hop took a moment to try and figure stuff out. "How much do you remember?" she asked with a worried expression. It was rather strange that he had a bandage on his head. Unless he hit it on something.
