Agree or Disagree?

Have you ever noticed that when someone goes outside of what society wants, society dictates that you "must' use up all your free time and energy to try to insult and bring down that opposition? If you haven't, where have you been living? Under a rock? We're part of a group that gets major firing and bad rep. It's amusing to see that society can be influenced by the few and assume the actions of the many. How many pedophile bronies have you ever met or seen? Hmm? Have you done a servey? Anything to prove that all bronies are pedophiles? No. Because not all bronies are pedophiles. I'll admit I can't speak for the whole tribe, but I digress. If a teenager were to play with dolls, you know what society would do? Bring him to his knees and put him down until it hurts. And for what reason? To try to keep "order" to society? There's no such thing as order when it comes to tht kind of stuff. Society wants everyone to be cookie-cutter people. All guys must act like this, all girls must act like this, all old-people must act like this, and so on. It's really repressive on what a person can express. I long for a day when people can be themselves and society can either ignore them or learn to accept that fact that not everyone's the same.

I think people often will conform to a society's values because they are afraid of thinking for themselves. Having that sense of belonging a society often gives will comfort people; make them feel that there exists a sense of order and unity.

That place "under a rock" sir is in some ways California. ;)

I am not denying the people here who do still obsesses over their norms and enforce them any way they can, yet here people overwhelmingly are usually quite nice and understanding.

There is enough political BS and other controversial stuff that bronydom is the least of their worries or concern.

I wear MLP shirts quite often and I have never had any problem, let alone dirty looks. I have received so many compliments and nods of approval. (My Lyra shirt tends to get the most "I like your shirt!"s)

I feel for my fellow bronies around the country, or the globe for that matter, who get sh*t for being one.

At the end of the day, it is about self confidence, showing those who agitate what you are really about, and enjoying a fun cartoon about colorful talking ponies. :D

It's true. Humans are a pack animal, we live by strength in numbers, and as such we tend to form strict codes of conduct within our respective packs, and with the rise of communications and industry, much of the world has fallen under one pack. Unfortunately one of the codes that this pack embraces is strict definitions of what is acceptable for different age and gender groups, and deviation is seen as taboo.

But the good thing about strength in numbers is that when enough people deviate, they can deviate together, and form their own pack, or in our case, our herd. ;)

I feel that several of the so called "Haters" out there are people who are just following the flow of society. Some how it became "cool" to hate MLP and people just follow that.

And I know it has been mentioned before but it is worth saying again: It is all about confidence. If you act like you know what you are doing people won't bother you. If you act like wearing a MLP shirt is something to be ashamed of while wearing it people will make fun of you. but if you act like it is completely normal people are more likely to ignore it

That makes me so angry oh how much it does. It takes (a lot) for me to get angry let me tell you. I despise how society tries and box everyone into "categories". Its time to take a stand and stop allowing others tell you what you should like. Everyone has their opinions on things as do I! But don't you *dare* come to my face and tell what and what not to like.

It has crossed the line how sick of it I am. Have a backbone and don't allow others to put you down for liking something.

Yeah, you just comment. Click on the muffin icon to see a chart listing how many posts you have to make to get the next rank.

As for Tosh.0, I heard he aired...basically a pony porn video on his show. It was bad enough that apparently he could get in trouble for it. I know Tosh has always been known for using controversial humor, but this just seems...low. Not to mention, it's bound to make us all look like cloppers (heaven forbid that should happen).

For your sake and the fandoms, I hope so too. I would say I don't understand why people do stuff like that, but I'm pretty sure I do: Because they can, and because we're different.

Bringing people down is not right, it is just messed up after being hit by stupid famous people being retards thinking its cool to bring down people by tyelling them "they are no good" and the most popular one "I did your mom last night" honestly i meet a lot of people on call of duty like that having to put you down so his friends will approve of him and think he is better than you?

No one is ever better than you, you are you and you are special nothing can bring you down to be as long as those people are! If they ever come up and insult you. DON'T EVER STOOP DOWN THE THEIR LEVEL.i have had one friend and he was a great guy then he took the dark road and now everyone he sees he flips off.

Yeah. >:c

I agree with you 100%

I am Unschooled Which means I have no formal education, I learn the same way I learnt to walk and talk.

My sister was also unschooled...She is now in university studying to become a psychologist, She gets an A on pretty much Every test,

But nooo Society thinks that Unschooler's are stupid and we will all end up working at McDonalds or just living on the street.

So yea, I do think society will point out and pick on People who are different.

Screw society, we've been given free will but we are shunned when we do something other than the norm. That's stupid. And putting others down for a reason like opinion or appearance, is stupid. I don't mind however when it's a joke, like the Tosh.0 one was funny, I enjoyed it, Tosh does that to EVERYONE, and he was pretty much supporting Cloppers in a way, too. He's done WAAYY worse, yet it's all in comedy, I respect that. However when they try to do it on a joke and just fails to be funny, that's when I get angry as they couldn't manage to make me laugh, but some example are My Little Brony, that one is so hilarious, and Friendship Isn't Real, those are the types of things I enjoy, it's funny, but when there is, say, hate videos, that pisses me off, like, seriously? Do they have nothing better to do? Shame, those humans, as in the fact they're not dead, I'd like that. A lot. Sure, don't like the show, it's fine you have an opinion (No matter how insignificant it is to anyone, though), just don't post videos with false information, hate, and vast stupidity.

Ya guys really need to see Athene's Theory of Everything, it's an eye opener. Here's the link

Basically, since we already have established specific roles within gender, heritage and society, everything different from it, even things we can agree with and rationalize with, can make us defensive and even hostile towards the new element that is being introduced in our lives.

What happens is that your brain will release endorphins that also play a big role in survival. In daily life we don't have ourselves under control much, yes we walk where we want to walk, but say if someone steals your bag you either call for help, be stunned or run after the thief even though a different alternative might be the better one. See, when talking to someone or stumbling upon something out of the blue, this primitive instinct and thus our emotions can easily take control over how we would actually act when we would be in a more neutral or calm state. The opposite is also true, whenever there's an element you agree with, your brain will release serotin and dopamine, the 2 feel-good neurotransmitters. That's why it's so great to talk with people you agree with, or with people who also enjoy something you do.

This is also exactly how these social norms and terms have been established. Once there was a person who was a great leader, because everything worked out when you did what he/she said you will establish a "bond", that person becoming the "ruler" and to establish what is good and what is evil. Because you have this bond with the person he can tell ya that ghosts don't exist and flying cows do and you'd probably believe it. Years upon years these people with power continously establish social norms and terms within society and has grown up to what it is today. Though we have reached a point where these norms and terms are slowly falling apart (thank god for evolution!) there are still a bunch of people (both from previous generations and newer generations that are being raised by said older generations) who still almost religiously (not being mean, it's a neutral word, look it up) follow these norms and terms.

And that is what we have established today, this imperfect, stupid and completely redundant social dogma of ours. Both beautiful and ugly in it's own respective.

TL:DR

Screw what society thinks, you are you and keep being you.

Never heard if this Tosh chap before but I'm certainly not going to take anything he says to heart. I mean, come on, the guy clearly has the brains of a rock and is basically using the "bronies are all sick b*******" angle to enlarge his (evidently) already swollen ego.

Oh, but on-topic, agree; I've spent my whole life subject due to this sort of treatment because I'm more intelligent than most people my age and don't class getting smashed out of my skull by alcohol as "feeling alive".
