private Cascade's Sand Castle Social RP

Descant

Recommended Posts

The majestic castle stood at the lakeside, at first sight, a monument to the centuries. But as the DJ, a lavender unicorn, approached it, he saw that it was entirely constructed of sand. Densely packed sand, carved intricately, forming graceful archways, tiered towers, painted windows, and even gargoyles that looked ready to spring to life. Slightly bemused, he looked at the map he was holding and wondered if he had indeed come to the correct place. As he stood in front of the shut gate uncertainly, he heard a grinding noise as the sandy gate began to raise up out of the ground. He looked at it closely, and the sand of the gate had even been sculpted to resemble the naturally forming patterns in wood. He wondered how this marvel stayed together absentmindedly, and trotted a few steps past the gate, looking around at the apparently deserted castle, at the floor that he would have taken for marble if he hadn't looked closer; at the Grand Staircase that spiralled up, almost infinitely; and at the statues, whose eyes almost looked alive.

"Hello!"

The DJ pony flinched, and whirled around. Emerging from a door literally just inside the castle gate was a pegasus pony who moved with a flowing grace, as if she were underwater. Her coat was a sandy gold, not like the sand that constructed the castle, which was in a variety of blues and reds and greys and golds, but like the sand at the bottom of a clear, clean lake, rather like the one the castle sat next to. Her wavy mane, a dark blue, and streaked with lines of cyan, resembled the water of the lake itself, and flowed down her neck like a waterfall. "Your equipment is set up in there," she told him, flicking her tail towards a room halfway across the Entrance Hall, to the left. "That'd be the Grande Ballroom."

The DJ entered the room she called the Ballroom, and looked around, even more astonished than he was with the exterior. The floor of the room was glass, and lights shone through it, lighting the scintillating crests of water that was in the floor. (Think of one of those pools that lights up at night, with the changing coloured lights). The patterns of the calmly flowing waves were reflected on the ceiling of the room, which was painted like the ceilings of the greatest cathedral, and appeared, similarly, to be alive, due to the scintillating patterns reflected onto it by the patterns in the floor. He gingerly tested the clear floor with his hoof, and it held, so he crossed it and clambered into the DJ station, which, like the rest of the Castle, was constructed entirely of sand.

Back in the Entrance Hall, Cascade smiled, watching the DJ's astonishment. SHe had spent weeks constructing her sand castle, her home. She leaned on a wall, which held quite firmly, as if it were stone, and awaited the guests eagerly. Most likely she knew none of them, but the fliers she had hung around town were invitations too.

A teal, burly pegasus emerged from a door partially concealed by the spiraling grand staircase. "Thanks, North, for offering to guard the gate tonight. You know what the invitations look like." The pegasus nodded, brushed the snowy mane out of his eyes, and stood sentinel beside the door. She wondered when somepony would finally arrive...

(OOC: You have permission to control North Arrow, my OC, who is acting as Gatepony, and a kind of bouncer for this party. He has strict instructions not to get involved, except for breaking up fights and denying entry to those without invitations; or Descant, who is the DJ, and has similar instructions to keep interactions with the guests to a minimum.)

"DIAMOND NO...I DONT WANNA......go." Star squeaked, as the carriage stopped.

"STAR...You need to get out and socialize with other ponies...NOW GO." Diamond opened the door to the carriage and pushed Star out. "Diamond I..."

Diamond, Gave Star the invitation then closed the door to the carriage, And with that, The carriage drove off down the dirt road.

Star turned and stared at the pegasus standing at the gate. He gave her a questioning look.

Star blushed and slowly walked over to him, She slowly pulled out her invitation and he nodded. "Go ahead in." He said.

Star nodded and slowly walked past the pegasus into the castle.

Quip struggled to pull the heavy cart loaded with fireworks that he brought for as midnight show. The guard at the gate raised an eyebrow and walked over to Quip, "You need any help with that?" he offered. "Ooooohh, no. I've got it, I just need to know where to put them. I'm the one who offered to do a midnight firework show" "Oh, you're that pony. Just drop off the cart on the far side of the lake, we will have some guys set them up for you while you enjoy the castle" he said before gesturing towards the lake. Quip nodded thank you and left for the far side of the lake, another quarter mile...

Cascade shivered with excited anticipation, her wings aflutter. Something looked off about her wings, though, as if an artist had only ever had the concept of wings described to them and attempted to draw them. The feathers were smooth, and flat, and streamlined.

She approached the two ponies that had already arrived amicably. One was a rather pretty blue Pegasus mare, the other a rather cute bespectacled Pegasus stallion.

"Hi! I'm Cascade! Do you like my castle?" She asked in a quick, energetic voice.

Star's ears flattened. "Its really pretty." She said, Shyly, Looking up at the large sand statues.

*Ugh Diamond, This is going to be the worst night of my life...I am so nervous, I wont know anypony here.* She thought, Looking back at Cascade. *Whats...Her wings...There is something off about them.* She thought.

String Strung suddenly found the giant castle that she was invited to, "It's amazing..." she said. The castle was made out of sand, and yet, how could it be so huge? She then found the entrance. She showed her invitation to the guard pony who was seeking admission, and went inside.

Ace nodded when the pegasus came over. "Yes this is a nice castle, even though it makes no SENSE on how it can not collapse ." Ace taking a look around the inside not paying attention to what was going on around him.

@,

Cascade's smile drooped slightly when she noticed the strange looks directed at her wings, which she withdrew subconsciously, the wings becoming plastered to her sides. They always looked at her funny, because of her wings...

"The Grande Ballroom is through there," She said, sounding slightly subdued now, gesturing towards the door to the visitors' left. "There's music and dancing and games and stuff in there."

She half-acknowledged the arrival of another guest with a feeble smile. @

Then, flicking her tail towards the staircase, Cascade said, "If you enter the door behind the staircase, you'll find a restroom, as well as the dungeons and servants' quarters. The servants' quarters are off limits." She gestured at a door halfway up the stairs. "That's my trophy room. Please don't go any farther upstairs than that. I'm not entirely finished with the upper floors."

She gave the disbelieving, bespectacled stallion a half-smile, hoping her wings would go unnoticed by anypony else. "A friend and I built it ourselves," she told him. "The sand is magically reinforced; it's as strong as stone. Don't worry." @@Flying Ace

@@Flying Ace,

Cascade couldn't help a reluctant giggle. "I just explained all of this! Weren't you paying attention?" Her tone was almost teasing now, but her wings were still quite plastered to her sides. "I'm Cascade." She took a moment to explain, again, what was where. "And if you go back outside, there's a beach volleyball court and you can swim in the lake. The Ballroom window is open, so you'll be able to hear the music outside."

The blue mare caught her attention. She seemed to have only realised that she was staring. Cascade gave the mare her full attention as she stood there awkwardly, trying to mumble something. The gaze Cascade gave her was not a cold one, but rather indifferent. She smiled softly at her fumbled attempt at an apology. "Thank you, and don't worry. Ponies stare all the time. I'm used to it." Her wings relaxed a little bit.

String suddenly noticed that she was in a conversation with Cascade, Ace, and Star. She knew she had to be social so she decided to speak up. "So, how did you build this sandcastle? It almost seems impossible to do!" she said, while not giving weird looks to Cascade's wings.

Cascade took Star's hoof, and shook it, grinning at her and Strung, extending her hoof to shake the new arrival's hand. "What's your name? And if you two think this is amazing," she gestured around her, "You haven't seen anything yet. Let's go into the ballroom. Unless, of course, you're hungry. There's food over there." She flicked her tail at the banquet table and punch fountain.

Quip finally got back from hauling the cart of fireworks ALL the way to the far side of the lake. He slowly walked towards the door since he was tired from his journey. He collapsed on the ground right in front of the doorway, "Remind me to eat and drink before coming to a party" he thought out loud to himself. "In fact, remind me not to load so much powder into those firework"

Aarod Brachuin walked his way towards the giant castle near the lake. He had never seen something so amazing in all of his years of life. As he got closer, he realized the entire thing was made of sand. This must have taken the owner ages to make, he thought to himself as he walked up to the door. There was pony obviously on guard at the door who as soon as Aarod approached said, "Ticket?". Aarod took out the ticket and handed it to the pony who looked at it for awhile then moved aside to let Aarod walk in. Aarod walked in and looked around. The room was amazing, but he had no idea which way to go from here.

'Only you Star Keeper, only you could get lost when the party is at a fricken castle!'

'Give me credit, I found sand.'

'Not good enough unless you decide to make your own castle and throw a party.'

'Let's just keep moving then.'

Star took back to the sky, spreading his wings and letting the wind carry him up several feet. After he gained some height it was easy to make out the structure on the coast. He retracted his wings, forcing him into a headfirst dive. He gained speed till he suddenly beaked before slamming into the doorstep. he seemed happy with how that went.

He raised a hoof and gently knocked on the door. Last minute he checked to see if his scarf was presentable, his mane... it would do. At least he showed up this time at the right place.

'Wrong door, genius. Take the front door.'

'I knew that!'

Star quickly buzzed around and landed outside what was quite  a decent sized gate. It had a guard, but I'm sure he would let him in on party business.

"Hello" The guard just looked at his gruffly. "Um... invite." He led out the small slip of paper he had received. The guard rolled his eyes and stepped aside. "Thanking you." Star trotted on in.

About this time his jaw collided with the ground at the sheer sight of this decor.

She then stood there awkwardly, Not knowing what to say.
