Minath was just setting up the drinks and snacks when the doorbell rang. Blaze, the party's co-host, must be here to help finish up! Minath couldn't wait to see her friend after so long. Minath opened the door and saw Blaze's smiling face.

"Blaze! I'm so glad you could help! I know you don't like Canterlot very much, so I really appreciate this!" Minath said to her friend. She couldn't wait for the part to begin!

"Glad I could do this for you Minath. After all, that's what friends are for, right?" Blaze said enthusiastically. "This is going to be the bast party ever! I maybe even meet my special somepony!"

"They'll have to get a drink in me first!" Minath an Blaze had a laugh, though Mianth was worried. She didn't get many RSVPs! But there was enough ponies coming to have a party, at least!

Minath and Blaze used magic and Minath's wings to finish up cleaning and decorating. They even had to do the tedious and unpleasent task of cleaning the pool. After an hour, the doorbell rang. The first pony must be here!

Minath opened the door and saw...

... Nightfall.

He had tried not to be too early.

"Hey! I'm Nightfall. I'm here for the party. ... Unless this is a wrong address," he laughed.

"If it isn't, you must be Minath. It's a pleasure to meet you!"

Only an hour ago, Nightfall had been debating not showing up. He had been working hard the last few days, and he felt almost as if he didn't want to go.

"Oh, come on, Nightfall! You can't bail out now! There isn't enough time to resend in another RSVP. Besides, you'll have a chance to get out and meet new ponies! And you might hurt the hostess's feelings..."

He shook his head and grabbed his swimsuit. He had been told he would need if it he wanted to swim in the pool. He had walked part of the way until he noticed he would be late if he kept walking. After taking to the skies, he noticed he would be early. He didn't look back, though. Early or not, he would arrive now. He didn't want to not show up.

"And this must be Fire Blaze. Nice to meet you, too!"

Two mares hosting a party, and he hadn't notice anyone else here yet. Two mares and him... alone... Maybe things wouldn't be so bad after all.

He looked at Minath curiously, and followed her. Something about her... Maybe it was the fact that she was an alicorn. Alicorns did have certian 'effects' on other ponies, he had heard. He had also heard that sometimes the effect was different on one pony than another, but there was a positive effect on Nightfall.

"How many others are you expecting to come?"

He smiled, and moved towards the drinks. He grabbed a cup and some Root Beer. (Let's just say it's available. ;)) He looked around and then back at Minath.

"Oh, and I have a question about you, in particular... Alicorns aren't very common. How come I had never really heard of you before? It would be expected that I at least would have..."

He found a chair and settled down. The plus side to being the first to a party meant that one could easily learn more about the party and the host, hosts, hostess, or hostesses. And he decided he wanted to know a bit more. Maybe she had a special somepony, maybe not. If not... She was good looking, especially in the top. It made him wonder what to expect from her.

Hansel approached what he assumed would be the right house and lowered his headphones. His horn glowed blue as he levitated a small piece of parchment with scribbled notes telling him how to get to the party, then glanced back up at the house.

"Well... I suppose this must be it..." He mumbled to himself "looks like I got here early... I can't see any sign of a fire or passed out ponies in front of the house..."

He shuddered at the memory of past house parties he had attended.

Hansel had always enjoyed socialising and meeting new ponies, but always felt anxious before, especially when it came to parties and clubs. Not knowing anypony else who was coming didn't help much either.

"Maybe I'll just stand out here for a bit, wait and see if more ponies show up first... maybe I really am just early..." Hansel thought.

He quickly brushed that thought aside, imagining how silly he would look standing outside a house with a large bottle of dark rum.

He glanced down at the bottle.

"I guess I'll just go in now... I just hope I'm not the first pony there..."  He thought.

Hansel approached the door, knocked, and waited...

"I'm expecting six other ponies. Not alot... but still!" Minath gave a big smile and grabbed a coke, upset it was early to start drinking alchohol. "I don't leave the castle alot. Celestia wasn't happy I was taking off to throw a party, but I never was one for the Gala. Too many people" Minath shuddered thinking about her first Gala. Too many ponies, she hid behind Celestia the whole night. But then again, she was 12. What was she supposed to do? She sat down on the couch next to Nightfall, wondering where Blaze wondered off to. "To tell the truth, I don't know many alicorn's either. That would include going to Alicornia, and I'm never doing that again!" Minath laughed her weird little laugh. Alicornia was the biggest disaster ever. "Hold up, someone's at the door." Minath go off the couch and went to the door. She oppened it and saw a white unicorn. He must be here for the party!

"Hi! I'm Minath! If you're here for the party..." Minath's face went dead serious. "This is the wrong house. I'm just kidding!" Minath's face light up and she laughed again. "And you are...?"

Hansel stared blankly at Minath for moment, the cogs in his brain still turning as her jest was settling in.

When it was done processing, he blinked a couple of times and focused his eyes on Minath.

"Oh, yes, I'm Hansel.... I... got your invite." He said. "You're the... hostess... right? It's lovely to finally meet you."

A moment of silence passed. Hansel still needed to readjust himself into a social mode... He had been on his own for a little over a month, and this was the first time he actually had to enunciate anything since then.

"OH! I brought some rum with me. It's for everyone, of course... there's no way I could even attempt to drink this on my own."

He levitated the bottle over towards Minath.

"Not that I wouldn't drink anything you have... I'm sure that you have some great drinks! Um... I mean, that's if you have drinks, I wasn't expecting to have drinks. Not because you're a bad hostess... I mean, a lot of house parties don't have drinks... so, that's why I got this. If this was BYOB, then I would be doing the right thing, and if this was a party that did have drinks, then it just looks like a friendly gesture... I think. I guess it could be seen as rude, but it wasn't intended to be rude. I just Thought that..."

He stopped rambling and looked at Minath.

"... I'll stop talking now."

Hansel turned red a little as Minath laughed at him, feeling like a bit of an idiot before following her in.

Hansel looked around the house as she spoke, looking in the directions Minath was referring to He was a very visual pony, and took in information better when he had something to look at. He studied each area for maybe a little too long.

When he heard her address him, he quickly turned around and looked at her.

"I'm Hansel. I actually live here in Canterlot, but you probably know that already seeing as you sent me the invite.

Oh... thanks, by the way, for inviting me. It's good to finally be out and meet new ponies."

Hansel looked around the house some more. He wasn't entirely sure what to expect before he arrived, and was happy to see a well-kept house. It reminded him of the state he left his own home in before leaving.

"I should probably tidy up a bit when I get home... it looks like a war zone compared to this place.

"You have a wonderful home...  have you lived here long? I don't think I've ever heard of you or seen you before..."

"Palace?" He thought to himself, before making some sort of connection with her being an Alicorn. Hansel thought about her words, and realised that she must have something to do with the Guard. He wanted to ask her about it, but wasn't quite sure how to go about it.

Alicorns were fairly rare, but Hansel had met a few, and once had Princess Luna as his client. He didn't involve himself with politics much, but he knew that alicorns were usually royalty... or at least all the ones he met were... but Minath seemed a little different to the royal members he had met.  And... the alicorns Hansel had met seemed like nice ponies, yet she seemed to have some sort of issue with them. At the very least on a superficial level.

Hansel was quite naive in this area.

"Oh, I'm just an artist... of sorts. I'm a little varied" He replied. "I work mostly as a freelancer or on personal projects... I suppose that I make a fairly comfortable living, but it depends on how much work is available."

"How about yourself?" He asked. "You mentioned the palace before..."

He noticed that Minath was eyeing the clock and wandered if she had something else to do.

He saw her eyeing the clock again, and decided he should probably leave her for a now.

Where was the other guests? Where was Blaze? She and Nightfall sat in silence for afew moments. Her thoughts drifted to Nightfall's thoughts. She wondered what he was thinking. Was he liking the party? It wasn't much of a party with her co-host missing and the other guest in the bathroom upstairs. She was now debating what to say to Nightfall. Should she ask him if he was liking the party? How he was doing? She realized that with the RSVPs only afew mares are going to show up, and the stallions were going to outnumber the mares by alot. She settled by turning to the pony sitting next to her and starting the conversation.

Rambler merrily strolled down the streets of Canterlot, singing an old Neighlic folk tune as he went, "I'll eat when I'm hungry, I'll drink when I'm dry, I will court all the lassies or at least I will try, and I'll never conform till the day that I die, agus faigaimid suid mar ata se"*. Indeed those words suited the stallion just about perfectly, as his long history of drunken revelry clearly indicated. In fact, he was likely to add another chapter to that history tonight, as he made his way to what promised to be a very interesting house party. Stopping on his way, he took out his trusty flask and took a long pull from it, savoring the whiskey within. He had come all the way from Stallionshire** for this party and he just hoped it didn't dissapoint.

Arriving at the house where the party was to be held, Rambler approached the door and knocked.

Hansel walked upstairs, stepped in the bathroom and locked the door. He walked over to the mirror and stared at his reflection. He wasn't entirely sure if that went well or not. He was always the same when meeting new ponies... and considering how bad it's been in some past occasions... this was actually fairly good.

"I'm sure it'll get easier later... it usually does. Just... maybe not too much alcohol this time round... I get weird when I have too much to drink... and by 'too much', I mean two shots." He thought, and smacked his face against the counter. "Maybe I'll just have one later if everyone else starts drinking..."

"Nah, you should totally have ten."

"No, no I should not."

"Pfft, you're no fun anymore..."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"You've been stuck in your home for over a month throwing tantrums like a little filly over your doodles, and your asking what I mean?"

"Hey, those weren't doodles! You know how importa..."

"Yeah yeah... Look at yourself in the mirror. When was the last time you saw Celestia's sun? Look at how pale you are."

"That's... that's just the colour of my coat... I've always been like this..."

"Whatever..."

...

"Why am i talking to myself?"

"I don't... know."

Minath opened the door to see a white coated earth pony with a shockingly red mane.

"Hi! I'm Minath, the hostess! My co-host, Blaze, is floating around here somewhere. Come inside!" Minath moved out of the way so the pony could come into her home. "To give you a rundown of the house. Drinks are over there," Minath said, poining near the television. The one disadvantage of having a big house: giving directions.

"So, what's your name?" Minath finally got around to asking the earth pony. He had an interesting form, foreign. She wondered if he had an interesting name to match

"My name's Rambler. That name has been in my family for generations, ever since my great-great-great-great-great-grandfather. The first-born son of every generation in my family is named after him, because he's kind of a hero where we come from*. I guess you could say it's kind of like a family heirloom."

Rambler took another pull from his flask. He hoped this went better than his last party. That was rough, especially when they blamed him for all the damages. I mean, okay, maybe the broken window was his fault, and the hole in the floor, that was totally on him. But the fire? Really, it's not like he did it on purpose. He was just trying to liven things up a little, he didn't mean to hurt anyone. They could have at least been a little nicer about it. Even if he did almost burn down an entire block, running him out of town seemed like a bit much. Some ponies just have no sense of humor. Yeah, this would probably go better than that. It would be hard to do much worse, anyway.

"So, anyway, nice place ya got here. Actually, I don't think I caught your name, miss...?"

(OOC:*I said that mostly just because Rambler is also in another RP set shortly after the founding of Equestria, and I hate continuity errors.)

Edit: I'm an idiot, she did say her name.

"I'm Minath." notiving Rambler's flask, she spoke "We have alchohol. Beer, rum, and vodka. If you want one of those little fruity drinks," Minath said, wrinking up her nose, "Go somewhere else!" Minath burst out laughing at her own joke. 'But you seem to be a steady drinker. Alicorns in general are light-wieghts, so much to my dissapointment, I can't drink that much." Minath thought about what Rambler had said wheh he intoruded himself 'he's kind of a hero where I come from' Minath wondered where exactly that was. Most likely in Equestria somewhere, her friend had been beyond the borders once and couldn't talk about it for years, the event was too frightening. Minath decided to ask Rambler about it earlier in the night. Minath stole a quick glance at the clock... and yes! It was 10! "excuse me..." Minath said, gliding past Rambler and slimming her wings closer to her body so she could quickly trot to the kitchen. She picked up the red cup and some beer with her magic, giving the red cup a cyan aura. She poured herself a drink and almost chugged it in one gulp, and quickly poured herslef another one, before noticing some stared. "Uhhh..." Minath said, clearly embarrased for her need for alchohol.

"No need to look embarrassed there, lass. There's never a wrong time to go for a drink, as far as I'm concerned. I'd have offered you my flask if I realized you wanted something. Of course-", he pointed to his flask, "this the real hard stuff. Old family recipe actually, perfected over almost a thousand years. It was my great-great-great-great-great-grandfather- the same one I'm named after- who came up with it, in fact. Of course, that's not why I'm named after him or anything, that's just something he did after his adventures were mostly over. Anyway, most ponies can't handle more than a little bit. First time I tried it, I didn't realize just how strong it was, and boy, that was not a good night. Of course when I woke up the next morning, that's when things started to get really rough. Trust me when I say you definitely don't want to know the details. It's really good, though. Once you get used to it, you hardly feel anything from drinking normal booze. But I'm sure you don't want to know the whole history of my drink. This place seems like it must have taken a lot of money to build, what do you do for a living anyway?

@,

Again with what I do for a living... "I *ahem* work at the palace. That's why I can afford this place, I'm sorta, umm, the guard captain" It took alot of effort to keep the pride out of her voice, but she had a feeling some leeked through. After all, she had been a member of the guard ever since she earned her cutie mark at age 7, it had taken her over ten years to become number one at her job. "In case you were wondering, alot of people do, I'm not royalty. That I know of." Minath added, considering her alicorn-ness. She got some wierd stares walking around cities and such. "I decided to through this party to escape all the alicorns. Prestigous a-holes." Minath always found insulting alicorns funny, she loved to see peoples faces when she insulted her own breed. Then again, everything she said about alicorns were true. "You should have seen me in Alicornia. Let's say I'm not allowed there ever again!" Minath laughed. She had drunken too much and started telling everypony exactly what she thought of alicorns. It was hilarios. Minath started eyeing Rambler's flask. "May I try some?" Minath said. She was curious about the forign drink. What was it like?

"Well, I certainly can't say no, not after talking about it so much. Just be careful, alright? You don't want to drink more than a little. I wasn't kidding about how strong this stuff is. It really is good, though. Here", he handed her the flask.

He thought about how incredible the caramel colored liquid was. He'd even seen fights break out over bottles of it. It was something of a legend back home. Sweet, with just a hint of spice, yet still with the strong flavor of a good whiskey, and with several times the alcohol content. Once you tried it, you just wanted to keep drinking it forever. In fact, sometimes he practically did. He'd had a lot of good times because of, and it had gotten him into more than his fair share of trouble, as well. It was a kind of magic in a bottle, really.

So you're in charge of the royal guard, huh? That's pretty impressive, especially for someone as young as you. Not many people accomplish that much in their entire lives, and you've got so many years left ahead of you. I can't say I'm nearly as interesting.

Blaze slowly walked back to the main greeting room a little embarassed by the fact now that she had left the front door where everypony was going to be at when they got here to use the little fillies room. She waited by the door for a few more moments before heading into the next room.

She saw her friend Minath talking with some very handsome stallions. Putting her hoof down hard she caused a small burst of fire to come up around her hoof before she made her way to join the rest of the group.

"Hey there everypony sorry for not joining you sooner but the little fillies room was calling." Blaze giggled. Using her magic she brought a glass of coke over to herself and took a drink out of it. Smiling at Minath, she believed that any of these stallions would make a good match for Minath. Blaze couldn't lie either that all of the stalions that were here already were really handsome but she wondered if they could keep up with her tomfoolery. "So what does everypony here do...I mean other than Minath since she's my friend I know what she does already." Blaze giggled.

@, @,

Minath pored herself some of Rambler's alchohot in a shot glass and shotted it. It was amazing, dispite burning a bit on the way down. She handed Rambler back his flask.

"That's amazing! Where did you get it?" Minath would aquire some and add it to her booze collection. It was amazing!

Just then Blaze appeared after being gone so long. Did she just call the bathroom the little fillies room? Sometimes Blaze could be a handful. But she came through as a good friend, and she never let Minath down. Minath mentally started pairing Blaze with each of the stallions, but none of them quite fit... her. Blaze needed a capable stallion who could handle her childish tactics. Maybe one of the stallions coming soon would suit her. Only time would tell. 'Hey, Blaze might hit it off with one of these ponies' Minath thought to herself, thoguh seriously doubting it. Minath pored herself more beer, trying to make this one last longer. Minath wondered briefly if she should talk to the other guests while Blaze was being, well, Blaze.

"Like I said before, it's an old family recipe. I doubt you could get it around here, but if you like it, I can arrange for it to be delivered from Stallionshire. I always pick it up when I'm there, but a few times I've run out and had to have it shipped to wherever I was staying at the time. I'm sure I could get you some.

"And in answer to your question, lass", Rambler said, turning to Blaze, "It's kind of a hard question to answer really", he laughed, "I travel around Equestria, doing pretty much whatever I feel like at the time. It's not hard to find hired hoof work if you know where to look. My family also owns an inn called The Rover's Rest back home in Stallionshire, and officially I work for them, driving buisiness there way by telling all the people I meet on my travels about beautiful Stallionshire and the wonderful inn there. So if you're ever in the neighborhood, you should be sure to drop by The Rover's Rest inn!", he chuckled, making fun of his rather ridiculous job.

"Well, anyway, I think I've talked about myself enough for the time being. What about the rest of you?"
