Demence felt the grip around him lessen as the star is wedged into the vine. He attempted to free himself, but, with what little energy he has left, is unable to. He looks over at the stump which is attempting to eat him, then at Frostbite's, which is frozen solid. His vision was blurred, and the world seemed to be spinning. He attempted to hit the vine where the star was wedged, then his eyes closed, and he was unconscious. He could only hope that he had broken the vine.

Frostbite was well and truly stuck now, she'd managed to completely freeze everything inside the stump, and it must be showing on the outside too. She was using almost all of her energy just to try and break out of her own spell. "Oh bugger it" she exclaimed, as she prepared to shield herself from further attacks with her flash freeze "I wish somepony would HELP ME!" she screamed, not knowing what everyone was doing on the outside.

I'm giving you good odds for this.

Even, 2-6: Your blow missed, but landed elsewhere on the vine. The vine is not strong enough to pull you any higher up the trunk.

Odd, 1-9: Your blow landed directly on target, and you fall onto the mossy forest floor.

Even, 8-10: Your blow misses entirely, and you are pulled, unconscious, into the body of the Yateveo, where you will likely drown unless action is taken quickly.

*rolls*

You got a Four, mate. Not bad.

Demence's flail hit the vine at a crucial point just below where the ninja star was embedded. The vine struggled, and failed to lift him any higher, and he dangled limply from the vine halfway up the trunk. One of the remaining vines seems to take notice, and moves to help move the unconscious zebra higher up the trunk.

_____________________________________________________________

North was torn. He didn't know whether to help the mare trapped inside the frozen tree, or the zebra dangling helplessly from the second. Unable to decide, he loaded his enchanted slingshot with two sparkling gemstones, and took aim.

_________________________

This is my DM voice, by the way.

First roll:

1-4: Gemstone strikes frozen Yateveo, shattering the ice inside.

5-8: Gemstone strikes frozen Yateveo to little to no effect.

9-10: Gemstone misses frozen Yateveo entirely, and strikes an innocent monkey standing in the background.

*rolls*

Five. Bad luck, ol' chap.

Second roll:

1-3, 10: Gemstone strikes the vine holding Demence, shattering it.

4-6: Gemstone misses entirely, instead hitting the Yateveo's trunk to no effect.

7: Gemstone strikes the second vine that is approaching the first, to assist it.

8-9: Gemstone strikes Demence, delivers an electric shock that revives him.

*rolls*

One.

North's aim was true. The ruby pelting to the left, struck the frozen yateveo and bounced off with a resounding echo. North was not sure anything had happened to the tree, though. The one going to the right, however, was incredibly effective. Demence fell softly to lay unconscious at the mossy base of the tree.

Hearing the dull thud and echo of something hitting the outside of the tree, she knew rescue was at least being attempted. Knowing this, Frostbite did her best to calm her mind, and take in the cool aura around her. She was still well charged from her rest on the boat. Knowing she wouldn't be able to get out of the ice by hammering at it, she took aim at the side of the Yateveo, charged up one of her Ice Balls, and fired it with as much force as she could currently muster.

Unholy could smell blood and hear the other ponies in complete and utter panic. She wasn't really sure what to do, so she did the first thing she could think of...

Unholy ran at a vine as fast as she could and at the last moment she pulled out a collapsible walking stick from her bag. she gave it a flick and a blade folded out, turning the ordinary walking stick into a scythe.

She swung at one of the vines, hoping she would hit it and sever it.

Star Rain stopped with a look of fear on her face when she saw the thorns and the rotten trees. Quickly regaining her composure, she unsheathed her sword and slashed at the thorny vines. She then turned her attention to the stump that had Frostbite in it. She ran over and fired a magic blast to weaken it. After that, only the tip of her horn glowed as a glowing, cyan whip shot out of it to wrap itself around the tree so that she can possibly uproot it.

Slicer gasped at the sudden pain in his leg, He looked back to see a vine wrapped around it. He growled and grabbed his two hook blades but was surprised to see the vine suddenly...Shatter ?

He chuckled then...Something changed a crazed smile spread across his face and he spread his wings. "WEEEE." He dived past a few vines and swung his hook blades at one of them, Cutting it in half. He ran over to North, Dodging several vines and helped him cut away at the tree, where Frostbite was waiting to be saved.

Leaf is spared for a moment from the vines when he saw a stone, but when he got closer, he found that is it a type of sword called a Zanbato, a really big sword. His suspicion lead him to the stone, and attempted to pull it out, doubting that he is some chosen one. Suddenly, the sword comes loose and he felt it in his hoofs. He then notices a button on the sword that let it shrink to fit in his pack. Leaf, with no time to ponder why he is chosen for the sword then went back to the action and to help Frostbite out of the stump.

Knowing she wouldn't be able to get out of the ice by hammering at it, she took aim at the side of the Yateveo, charged up one of her Ice Balls, and fired it with as much force as she could currently muster.

1-5: Ice ball shatters the ice. You are untouched by ice shards.

6-9: Ice ball shatters the ice. You recieve severe cuts from falling ice shards.

1-4, 6-7: Scythe's aim is dead on. Vine is severed.

5: Scythe's aim is dead on. Vine retaliates.

Leaf noticed Star's blast first made the tree's vines go limp, then the tree starts to fall over.He then thought that this would be the right time to see if his sword can chop the stump and see if that will finish Yateveo off. So he gets to work by seeing if his new sword can cut through it.

Unholy listened carefully to the movement around her, she was attempting to find the direct location of the second stump (the one without a pony in it). Then, she heard it. She ran towards it, swinging her scythe. The scythe lodged into the stump, Unholy was secretly hoping that it would kill the stump-creature, but she had the assumption it wouldn't...

Slicer's eyes widened at the ponies hacking away at the stump. "You know...There's a pony in there... If you just hack away at it then you could KINDA KILL HER." He yelled, Grabbing his knife and cutting down the stump, But making sure the knife didn't go in too deep.

Star Rain had a look of triumph mixed with frustration that she managed to make the vines go limp, but wasn't strong enough to uproot the tree stump. She tried again with the magic whip and attempted to uproot the tree again, while slashing at one of vines that didn't suffer from her magical blast attack with her dagger. That particular dagger was infused with some of the fire magic she knew. If it hit the vine, it could potentially receive a cut along with a burn at some degree.

@,

After fighting off two vines he suddenly realised all the vines just went limp, he turned his head towards Démence to see him lying unconscious at the base of the stump. Aqua took the opportunity to dash over to Démence and pick him up and move him out of the fight. Aqua then shouted at the top of his voice hoping the Frostbite would hear him "protect your self" as he galloped and took a massive leap up into the air, put all his power into the strike with the bo staff that he was abouts to make at the top of the stump attempting to smash the top off and free Frostbite.

From the inside of the tipped stump, it was hard to hear anything from the outside, especially over the top of the other ponies banging and hacking at the shell. All Frostbite heard was "Frostbite" and "protect" but that was enough. She assumed something was coming, and as she had been readying herself for this earlier - she used her flash freeze spell to instantly cover herself in a protective layer of ice, ready for whatever was coming.

The scythe lodged into the stump, Unholy was secretly hoping that it would kill the stump-creature, but she had the assumption it wouldn't...

1-5: Yateveo weakened, but retaliates.

6-7: Yateveo slain. Digestive fluid and sap floods out of it over Unholy like blood.

8-10: Yateveo slain.

You rolled a Eight. Lucky you.

Results of rolls: Magic whip proves largely ineffective, the vine catches fire, but another one takes a swipe at Star Rain in retaliation. The surviving tree still has four vines left, one of which is on fire.

as he galloped and took a massive leap up into the air, put all his power into the strike with the bo staff that he was abouts to make at the top of the stump attempting to smash the top off and free Frostbite.

Seems a rather foolhardy thing to do, while carrying an unconscious zebra.

1-3: Bo staff caves in the maw of the Yateveo and shatters ice within, freeing Frostbite.

4, 7: Bo staff shatters in your hooves, and your are caught in the midriff by another vine.

5-6: The maw of the Yateveo is broken, Frostbite is freed, but the Bo staff shatters in your hooves.

8: Attack misses entirely.

9-10: Attack misses, but you manage to sever another vine instead,  quite by accident.

You rolled a ten.

North had just stared after Unholy, who had so bravely dashed up to the tree, somehow avoiding the flailing vines, and stabbed it, her scythe burying itself in the bark. The tree shuddered, the stench eroding from it lessened slightly and the vines drooped, and fell to the ground, lying flat, now useless. He gazed, astonished, then pulling himself together, manages to dive and push Star Rain out of the way of a foot-thick tendril that would have taken off her head. He landed on top of her small form, unfortunately, but she only seemed shaken. He stood up and took aim at the tendril that had almost killed her, and let loose a flying gemstone.

1-4: Aim is dead on, shattering the tendril.

5-6: You miss, but hit the Yateveo instead, shattering the ice within that restrains Frostbite.

7-8: You miss entirely, and the tendril knocks you out cold.

9-10: You hit the Yateveo trunk instead, destroying the tree. In its last moments, the tendril whams into you.

Somehow I rolled a nine.

North's aim had been shaky, and instead of hitting the tendril now flying towards them on rebound, hit the tree. With a shattering sound, the Yateveo's trunk splintered, and just... fell apart, revealing one giant chunk of ice within. North smiled. The tree was finished. Then, with a woosh, he felt a great something collide with the side of his head, and he spiraled into blackness...

North Arrow's intervention took Star Rain by surprise, but she quickly regained her footing. She felt of wave of euphoria wash over her when she saw the tree finally destroyed. It didn't last for long though, when she heard a dull thud not far away. She jerked her head and saw the same pony who had saved her, unconscious on the ground. With the tree broken now, it was much easier for Frostbite to control the ice that surrounded her, and she quickly managed to destroy it - it was her magic, after all. As the tree was on its side when she had broken the ice, she slammed onto her back when she was freed. When she tried to stand, she collapsed as soon as she stood on her back legs, she looked back at where the vines had initially grabbed her. She winced at what she saw, both of her ankles had been just about maimed by the thorns. There was blood everywhere, and the exposed skin needed to be tended to before it got infected - the digestive acid hadn't helped."D-does anypony know any h-healing m-magic...or...a-anything?" She stammered with a worried tone in her voice, not taking her eyes from the wounds.

Let's get you over here." He said, Carrying Frostbite over to a log and gently placing her on top. "I am going to help Star get North awake, Sit tight." He gave Frostbite a warm smile...Which was a rare thing for him to do.

He then walked over next to Star and helped her get North awake.

"Thanks" she nodded, with somewhat of a smile as she looked around everypony. She saw that some of them where bleeding, others seemed to be fine. "We're going to have to keep more alert than this" she mumbled to herself as she brushed the mucus off of her body. All of a sudden she noticed something odd "Where's Démence?!" She shouted suddenly, upon not being able to see him.

For some magical, unknown reason, Unholy managed to be completely unharmed.

Star Rain stopped casting her spell and turned to Leaf. "He's in trouble?!" she asked, exasperated at the fact that North wasn't the only one who had blacked out. She herself was covered in cuts and bruises, but she didn't pay attention to them. "Find some moss somewhere and apply them to the wounds," she shouted. "It will soak the blood up, but I highly suggest you wash the moss first," she said and with that, she spawned two hoof-sized water orbs. "Use the water from these orbs. It's more sanitary," she explained.

She knew very well that while her spells can give a pony energy, revive them from unconsciousness, and relieve pain at the cost of her own energy, they couldn't stop bleeding or anything major. Closing her eyes, she focused on both North and Demence and casted her healing spell again, this time on both of them. All sound around her died out as she concentrated on her spell.

(OOC: By the way, when I say energy, I don't mean life energy. It's the kind of energy required to walk on without rest.)

Leaf payed attention to Star and went out to find some moss. It's not high class medical stuff, but it will do. It took a bit of searching  he found a big pile of the stuff right next to a non-possessed tree. Leaf then hoped that the moss wouldn't come alive and eat him. He snatched some and then returned to Star. "This should do... I just can't really stand someone dying now..." he said with a somber tone.

North began to stir. He was having a vivid dream... Or was it a memory? He saw a bright orange and black striped snake, about two thirds as large as he. As he beat all three of his heads to death, several more emerged from that dark hole beneath the tree, and before he could do anything about it, he had been bitten... Once... Twice... Three times... all simultaneously.

He woke with a start, looking around wildly for the three headed snake. Instead, he was confused when he saw a lot of dreary-looking ponies. Then he remembered why he had such a horrible headache.
