Should we stop caring about what other people think?

Gone for good

Recommended Posts

So, I’m just curious, but does anyone else feel that we
should stop focusing on all the haters? I've seen this all over the internet, by the way, and isn't really limited to this site.

The reason I think we should stop focusing is first of all
haters gonna hate, second of all we’re taking things kind of too seriously,
especially since the vast majority of the haters are trolls just looking for
attention to begin with.

Probably the best reason why I think the people on here
should stop focusing so much on trolls is because there are so much better
things to be talking about. I mean, just take one glance at EquestriaDaily and
there is so much more positive things to talk about if you need some quick
examples.  If somebody comes up and says
that lol ponies are gay who cares because we have whatever crazy pony
announcement that is 200% cooler than whatever this troll has to say.

Anyway, there isn’t really much to say about this. Anyone
agree with me here on this?

Just editing my signature to say that my behavior on here was cringe. I don't regret the friends i made but man i was cringe here

If it makes people feel better I will not post any more troll videos. I just figured people might want to watch haters look like idiots. That's what I do for my entertainment. I'm new to the fandom so I'm trying to find new things to talk about. Sometimes it might already be on the forum and I have made a mistake. So I figure if I posted these videos it would be something fresh for people to enjoy. But I will find other things to do instead

*shrug* Putting effort into negative feelings is always, always, always the worst choice. Always. What do we stand to gain by getting upset that someone doesn't like the same thing as us? We're as bad as the haters if we choose to get as upset as they are about THEIR anger. Negative cycle.

None of us owe anything to the people who don't like us. We like what we like, so why should we have to justify it? Why should we bother getting angry, when-- like you said, OP --there are so many things we could be enjoying about the fandom?

Would you like to know a secret, everybody?

<_<

>_>

I have never, ever, EVER, once given a shit about the haters. Never have, never will. Since when have we cared? :S

The thing is, we're just as wrong to talk bad as they are.  The whole idea of trolls and haters (the ideas and the names) is childish in my opinion.  People call them that, and of course they will reply back.  I mean the only way to stop them is to ignore.  DOn't care what people say, not everyone will agree with you, but it's our job to be the tolerant voice that doesn't care what they think.

Hey, you're welcome to your opinion, aren't you? If you find that sort of thing entertaining, it's reasonable for you to make a post about it to connect with people who also find it entertaining. I honestly don't think you have anything to apologize for. I saw your thread. It's not like you tried to rally people to fight back, or anything...

Personally I've never given two hoots what anyone thinks about what I like or don't on any subject and its done me no harm.

But when it comes to trolls etc, its best just to ignore them and leave them be. Eventually they'll get bored and find something else to attack.

Yeah, probably best to just ignore them. I ignore haters of other things that I like... so I can do that with the MLP too. It makes me sad to think they decide to waste their time hating..

I think that you shouldn't care about what people say about things you enjoy. But you should listen to others only when you want/need it, like someone informing you about something you should know. Now I listen to haters to just see why they are hating the show, but I don't bother commenting when I run into them. Its all just a personal opinion.

Well, I do sorta cringe on the inside if someone says something considerably hurtful to me, but I usually brush it off. I live by the philosophy that we all are going to die and no matter what we do or how we act, nothing will every change that.

Like I said though, I do cringe a little when I hear hate. I would like to think that people find me at least tolerable, but oh well that's life I suppose.

YES.

To hell with haters!

The world is filled with enough negativity as is. As individuals we should focus on the things that make us happy, not the roadblocks that try to block your happiness. I've said this many times in several hater centric threads. I really wish bronies could switch gears and not give haters attention they don't deserve.

I guess this is what Love and Tolerate was for, and since that didn't work out that well... The haters can't be tolerated. So I guess we will just have to ignore them completely.

I honestly never cared for what haters say or do.

Most of my reactions to haters and trolls go along the lines of "huh? Did you say something? Sorry I was doing something more productive then yell at screen for five minutes". Or something like that. Just to mess with them.

I have had experience with bullies, haters, and racist in the past. I know how to deal with them and ignore them. For me it got easy to ignore any forms of verbal assaults on me.

We mustn't let them hurt us. We must be strong and ignore them. They will run out of steam eventually.

To quote "Pinkie's Gypsy Bard" from "Friendship is Witchcraft":

"Know that we must be resilient

We won't let them break our spirits

As we sing our silly song"

We shouldn't just stop completely. Instead of ignoring them completely, why not try to educate them or find out why they apparently so hate us? If we simply try to brush away our problems by running away from them, we don't get anywhere. That's truly ignorant. It's always good to listen to what people say and value their thoughts on a matter, Just don't ignore it and don't let is eat at you until you can't think straight.

This is exactly how I feel. I don't understand why someone always has to repeat every negative thing that is said about the fandom and ask how we feel about it. Just to see everyone else agree with them and say the haters are wrong? We know they're wrong and that they're wasting our time, but constantly keeping tabs on them is a waste of OUR time. I've been avoiding this section of the board for exactly that reason.

Eh I don't really care about them, if their moment of trolling is the only glimmer of happiness they have in their bleak lives let them have it, they obviously need it and it's kind of an outcry for help. Kind of like an internet beacon saying "I need someone to validate me because I'm not getting the attention I desperately need and I want somewhere to vent my frustration"...Pity the hater and move on.

I befriend the trolls. I usually laugh at the trolls they throw at me because, well, some of them are funny!

Or I laugh because of how ridiculously retarded the jokes they make are.

In fact, later I'm going over to a friends who constantly tries to troll me as a brony.

Yes and no.

On an individual scale, and on pretty much the entire internet, people shouldn't let trolls, haters and narrow-minded people who hate on the show bother them. They have little to no power to really do much of anything, so leave them to believe what they want.

However, there are some mediums that actually matter a bit. Why did John De Lancie bother to put together the Brony Documentary? To counteract FOX and a few other gigantic news mediums that catered to society's stereotypes of what boys and girls should and shouldn't like, catered to the hater's mindsets, and publicized it for the entire world. They had the power to influence a lot of people and give them a predetermined way of looking at the matter, without letting them figure out what to think for themselves. Granted, many people who actually listen to what FOX says and take it seriously without looking into it for themselves are already narrow-minded and/or morons, but that's a little beside the point x3

I say we should stop caring about what other people think. We are all open to our own opinions, because of the Freedom of Speech. I just think that just because we think one thing is better then the other does not mean that other people should look down upon you to just criticize at what you think about things.

So to quote the Great One here is what you should say:

'' It doesn't matter about what you think!'' - The Rock

Pretty much, just don't care about what people think.
