So i'm making a Burzum/ Varg Vikernes thread. Because I like to fangirl about Varg's music and how he burnt down churches. And killed Euronymaous by stabbing him 23 times :3 So uhh... Det Som Engang Var is my favorite Burzum album. Lost Wisdom and Stemmen Fra Taarnet are my two favorite songs. Do you guys like Burzum? What's your favorite song and album?

Oh Varg.  The man is unbreakable.  Jail couldn't hold him, he can't control himself, and the churches were defenseless to him.  

 

But his music is damn good.  Det Som Engang Var is my favorite Burzum record as well bro.  He is truly a master of atmospheric black metal.

Yes he's a musical genius. Too bad they tried mixing his bass out in De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. That's disrespectful to THE COUNT.

Not the biggest Burzum fan anymore (I was when I was younger) but Filosofem is still a great album.

I've never really known a lot about Black Metal. I do have Burzum's debut album though, if that counts.

 

I will just say this: In that picture of him at his judge sentence, Varg has one really handsome smile, IMO.

Ah yes Varg had some pretty awesome hair back in the day. You should listen to Det Som Engang Var, it's actually better Burzum (self titled) and Aske is great too.

Burzum's third album is really great too.  The name escapes me, but the album itself is really good.  It'd be worth your time to check it out.

Which one Hvis lyset tar oss or Filosofem? Either way listen to both. Oh and they tried mixing out his bass because Euronymous's family was butthurt about what Varg did.

Hvis Iyset tar oss. I love that album, and it's perfect blend of black metal and dark ambient.

 

I kind of dont blame Euronymous' family to be honest. Their son was dead after all. But impose sanctions on the man that did it, not the band as a whole.

A guy in my class just gave a presentation on this band! Well, on black metal in general, really, but with somewhat of a focus on these guys.

 

Can't say I'm overly fond of it all, what with me bein' a Christian, and black metal (according to my classmate's presentation) being built largely around explicitly anti-Christian sentiment. But it is kinda serendipitous that this thread should get a new post today, after nearly two years of inactivity, on the same day my classmate gave a presentation on the band.

 

Serendipitous, indeed.
