I have always preferred PC gaming, I do have consoles but they go unused (besides my PS3, which I use as a blu-ray player)

The first point to make is that PCs have a much larger library of games, console games are more expensive to distribute, therefore you'll need a PC to play most indie games, and don't forget about MMORPGs, they're practically none existent on console.

Keyboard and mouse give far superior accuracy to using a controller, only thing I prefer a controller for is racing games, so. Just use an Xbox not roller on my PC for them.

Mods, PC have mods/customisation a for their games.

Community, the PC gaming community is far better than the console on IMO, due to the expense of having a op end gaming PC vs the cost of a console I find that PC gamers are generally more mature, and don't forget you can at tab mid-game on PC so you can be doing other things at the same time, I like to multibox on MMOs (play on multiple accounts at the same time)

Cheaper games, While the cost of thePC is far more than that of the console, the games are usually cheaper by around £10, and we get steam sales of anywhere up to 90% off.

Better graphics, providing you have the spec, graphics on PCs are far better than on console.

Additional applications, no matter what game I'm on I always have my TeamSpeak one so I can chat to friends, and I wouldn't be able to make videos without my Fraps.

It seems although people forget that consoles are just really dumbed down PCs and without people using PCs to write the games there would be nothing to play on console.

As for porting, most games are written for PC and then ported to console, even if the PC version comes out later. You do get some that are written for console first but that's not as common (personally I found it much harder to program a game of console before PC, I wrote mine to work on PC then added console commands later on)

If you can afford a pc gaming setup, go for it. Im not going to say much, as the reasons for my statement have already been adressed above.

I do have an Xbox360 though, and ever since i bought a gaming capable pc, i havent touched it since. This is surprises me, considering the amount of time i put into my Xbox beforehand. The immersion is just unrivaled on the PC, at least, in my opinion; the graphics, mods, my surround sound setup, and the precision one gets with the mouse can really help pull you into its' world. Also, its a PC- with all the capabilities of one. Its' an all-in-one machine.

I do prefer the controller for shooters though; ive become accustomed to it and i cant play to the same degree of effectiveness on a keyboard XD

The next generation of consoles ARE coming, so one can see that needed immersion boost on their beloved xboxes and ps3s, still, at a lower cost to PC gaming XD. lol, talking about this makes me want to play my Xbox again.

While I very much love the nature of PC gaming which allows for easy modding and custom content, I can't help but prefer console gaming. It's what I grew up with... Specifically Nintendo. I can't (legally) find Nintendo games on the PC, so the PC can never be completely satisfying for me. Even if that changed, I'd still prefer consoles, actually.

I like getting a PC and not having to worry about upgrading it. My "upgrade" is whenever I get a new one. Upgrading in between is way too expensive. And that's what I feel like I'd have to do to really be caught up in PC gaming. Fortunately for me, though, I have no interest in playing the HD realistic games that require super-expensive PCs. I stick with The Sims and Civilization, which don't have too much trouble on my three year old PC. If I had interest in those other games I'd be in a lot of trouble.

That's the thing... Even with expense aside, console gaming provides the vast majority of the franchises I enjoy. If all I had was PC gaming, I wouldn't be happy at all.

I, personally, do PC gaming much more than I do Console gaming. I like PC gaming a little more than Console gaming. But, I play games on any Console whenever I can. :L

I would actually give the upper hand to PC but the only problem is... Steam is just so bad for me.

I mean, it really just crashes, freezes, and does all sorts of wacky things to my computer. I try and try to install and uninstall but to no avail, it always freezes. (actually, it freezes about 80% of the time)

My computer has decent specs but I won't really say it because I kinda forgot it.

Also, I like console gaming better because of the ease of just using your console to open your games and all of that without crashes and such. Also, you won't have to keep upgrading your console because games would be designed specifically for it, so it should be safe most of the time. Besides, it wouldn't be able to go through the approval stage if it wasn't safe also.

I'd say that console gaming would be more of budget gaming to me which I like since I hate spending a lot of money, yet I also like the exclusives on the consoles way better than on PC.

NOTE: This is all just in my opinion. Yours may vary but this is what I think about the two sides.

I say console gaming because I prefer a controller over a mouse and keyboard any day. Not only that but the majority of Triple A titles that come out for PC are also available on console. Which version is better is debatable.

Most of the time, it really isn't. Actually, I can't think of a single multi-platform game that isn't better on the PC than it is on any console.

I didn't say they were better on console. That is an opinion. I will say I prefer to play games on console rather than on PC and that is my opinion. If you don't necessarily care about mods or prettier graphics, I don't see how PC versions are better.

I voted for consoles.

It's not because I think they're better, because I know they are not, but it's just a matter of comfort. The possibility to just lay down on the couch and play some Minecraft on the large TV-screen is just what gaming means to me and it has always felt 'right'. Currently with the Xbox 360, but in the past with the (S)NES, and so forth.

I do play games on PC from time to time, but after I while, I just get pulled back to the couch playing Minecraft on the Xbox.

I appreciate PC gaming but here is all that it boils down too:

Games

Consoles just have the games I like. It's very simple really. Those very, VERY rare occasions where a PC has a game I want (Sims 3, Sim City, The Witcher 1) I'll get it for the PC, but because a majority of my games are released on consoles, that is where I spend most of my gaming time.

Albeit Minecraft Tekkit has really sucked me in recently :D

As for Tekkit, I have experienced exactly the same. It's about the only game I play on PC right now! :)

Also, havn't you tried the two different Sims 3 versions on Xbox / PS yet? They are pretty good!

I am VERY wary of the Sims on home consoles due to the ease of using a mouse for this type of game. I would think the Wii U's touch-screen could really make Sims 3 awesome for a console but we'll see if that ever happens.

Do the console versions vary from the PC one?

Where it comes to downloadable content and expansions, yes. There are (close to) none.

The Sims 3 Pets has more stuff in it, but it's focussing on the animal part, which is why I like the standard Sims 3 more.

No, opinions are viewpoints on subjective matters. The superiority of a PC release as compared to its console counterpart can be measured objectively.

I always just look at as when the next generation of gaming comes about, PC will always be able to adapt since they are fully customizable and you can get get a new graphics card to handle more powerful visuals, but when it comes to consoles, every time a new generation is out there you are going to have to pay for a whole new console leaving the previous one outdated and virtually worthless. :(

Besides in the future console gaming is going to become such a hindrance on people's wallet since they are going to start downloads only and keys that only allow you to use the game making them useless to trade in to get money. At least when you buy a PC game, they  in most occasions relatively cheap thanks to Steam and such. ^_^

Only benefit of consoles that I can see is exclusive titles that you can't get on the PC.

While i do play both console games and pc games, i have to say i much prefer pc gaming to console gaming. I do enjoy the pick up and play feel of consoles but most of my gaming time is spent on a computer. To me a computer has a wider variety of games to offer and plus i always i know that there are games that i can play even if my pc can't run certain ones. PC games also have genres that consoles just don't do (MOBA's and MMO's and RTS's) it's those kind of games that win me over. :D

Now now, no need to begin talking like this. It may play better on PC, but it isn't superior. That, my good DusK is up to the player playing it to decide. Ones enjoyment for the same game may feel it is superior on the console than it is on the PC despite the power behind the PC version.

No, there is. If a game does literally everything it does on a console but better on a PC, it's an objectively better game. What multi-platform game could actually be considered better on a console than a PC?

Resident Evil 4. The PC had graphical issues, control issues, and all sorts of nasty little chaotic thingies going on with it before people had to mod it.

Console-pony till the day I die.

I absolutely HATE mouse and keyboard controls, I HATE having to worry about the specs of my computer, and I HATE the install times.

Although I do enjoy some PC gaming. Not a total hater. d:

1+1=2 is a fact. If you take one apple and place it with another apple, there are 2 apples. This cannot be debated because it is a fact. PC games being better than console versions is also an opinion.

Also, another thing I've noticed is that console versions of games that appear on PC tend to have better review scores. I believe this further validates the point of view that it is an opinion, not a fact.

any one that thinks console gaming is the best better get there reality checked

"

Microsoft’s next console will require an Internet connection in order to function, ruling out a second-hand game market for the platform. A new iteration of Xbox Live will be an integral part of Microsoft’s next console, while improved Kinect hardware will also ship alongside the unit.

Sources with first-hand experience of Microsoft’s next generation console have told us that although the next Xbox will be absolutely committed to online functionality, games will still be made available to purchase in physical form. Next Xbox games will be manufactured on 50GB-capacity Blu-ray discs, Microsoft having conceded defeat to Sony following its ill-fated backing of the HD-DVD format. It is believed that games purchased on disc will ship with activation codes, and will have no value beyond the initial user."

So if this rumor is true, I just stick with my Wii U and/or PS4.

I don't see why you would want to try to tell console players that their system of choice is wrong. What's the point? It's better for console gamers to own consoles if those consoles have the games they want. That's all that should matter; the games.

The true point is this: The only reason one would be better over the other is due to the games that one offers. PC offers some great games, a huge indie crowd, and some genres that are too difficult on consoles.

Consoles offer great games, some indie crowds, and are easier to hook up which makes them more accessible. The fact is, both platforms have games and neither is truly superior for PC can do things consoles cannot do and consoles have games PC doesn't have.

So why argue, why try to play master race or console slave, and not just sit back with a nice glass of exploding chocolate milk and let each other have their fun ^_^

Most graphics cards in the last 15 years have the option to connect to a television screen.  My current card has an HDMI Out which is the same kind used by the Xbox 360.

But could be remedied with third-party content to be the best version looking/running version of the game available.

Explain how an objectively inferior version of a game can also be simultaneously subjectively superior.

I remember I used to get into an argument about this very point.  However there are a few points that I will state that aren't an opinion.

1.  How stable a game is written.  From a technological standpoint a PC has more compatibility issues but more horsepower to overcome limitations while console games have only one configuration.  One can argue that a console game is worse because it has to be ported to totally different architectures (like Sonic '06) whereas PCs have to deal with subtle differences between instruction sets and GPUs.  My point here is that console gaming is destroying the PC market (in addition to some iOS gaming)

2.  Console games that are ported to PCs are ports.  As of recently companies have been more and more lazy in terms of actually making a game a true PC title (I think F.E.A.R. 2 being the example I wish to use).  Factually speaking the PC version is only inferior because of its sloppy code 'and requring a controller' mindset.

3.  We're at the point to where only Nintendo has actual consoles.  While the Wii U, PS3 and Xbox 360 are computers at this point the Wii series is the only one that doesn't rely on any 'PC' components (the Xbox using DirectX whilst the PS3 has a GeForce).  The only difference is just the controller.  I've been able to use Gamepads on my desktops for years.

4.  While the majority of console vs. PC can be opinionated how tech saavy a user is can easily sway which side they want to go on.  If they're saavy but don't want to deal with computer related issues (turn on the Xbox and it works) then they'll prefer consoles while enthusiasts like myself can live and breathe it all year long.
