Tera: Rising

So, apparently there isn't a topic for this yet. For any of you who know of Tera, it's gone free to play a few days ago, and I've been quite enjoying it. This is the first time I've actually played a full-blown MMO, and the battle system is a lot of fun. Check it out, or add me. I'm on the RP server right now, and I'll post some screenshots to show how pretty this game is.

I think I read that the combat is fairly action oriented, rather than simple WoW style point and click type stuff? I'm admittedly not very familiar with the game, with most of my knowledge of it coming from some of our mutual acquaintances that play it.

 

I'm curious, is there a lot of angst over the fact that the game went free to play? I remember a lot of folks acting like Team Fortress 2's transition toward the F2P model was the worst thing ever to happen.

If by angst you mean a /lot/ of foreign players flooding it, then yes. with my higher level character, I haven't had many issues, and I doubt it will be much of an issue past lvl 30-40. Not many people have that much time. it is a Korean MMO after all. The battle system is very much action oriented, you use WASD to move, and the number keys and F keys for skills. Dodging and timing is important, and even if you have lower level equipment, you can still win against hard enemies, provided you've got the skillz.

That fact on its own does a lot to raise it above most games in the genre, in my opinion. Nothing irks me more than games where the only thing that matters are the numbers associated with the items equipped on your character... I mean, I've got nothing against the folks that like games that are like that, but I've never been able to stomach them. I need freedom of movement, and freedom of combat. :3

 

I'd be inclined to give Tera a shot if not for the fact that I don't have nearly enough gaming time these days to justify jumping into something like it.

I play Tera im a level 28 slayer named Cyrodiil i found a brony guild called: Friendship is magic were on the Celestial Hills server so if u want to group up just send me a message.

I played Tera for a bit.I was an Aman Lancer and got to like,level 10.

When I started back at release there was sooo many guilds with that in name and description

I never joined any guilds though, mainly because in MMOs

as much as I like friends to play with I'm mainly a soloer

I've been debating about getting Tera now that it's gone free. The only thing stopping me is the huge download. If this MMO is fun and worth the download time, I would love to get this and give it a whirl.

Awesome! well currently I'm only level 29 on my highest. Which happens to be a priest. (I love being healers in games)

Been playing this game for a short while as well. Got several chars but my highest one is a Elin around the 30's.

I just find it hilarious to see small fox girls swinging pretty big swords around and killing stuff x)

 

So far it's been a fun experience. And me and another friend is just grinding up towards 60 so we can start doing all the awesome stuff @u@

 

Also, I play on the EU version and on the server Fraya ^^

Now that it's released i told a friend to download it so i could play with him, i have a feeling this game is great from what i have heard.

I never knew how op the priest could be until I started playing it

I thought it was going to be a grind like how other healer types in other MMOs could be.

Anyway, I temporarily stopped playing Tera because my HDD is too slow to run it smoothly. (takes forever to load up the game)

When I get better drives this weekend I'll let you know and maybe we can group together

That is US, Celestial Hills server doesn't even exist on the EU one.
