private A meeting with Death

Lost Knowledge calmly walked out of the bar. No sense worrying. The damn things could probably smell fear a mile away. Best just try and stay calm.

 

He slowly walked in the shadows across town and towards the Everfree, where he met up with the rest of the group.

 

"Sorry I took so long. I trust I didn't miss too much?"

"A dryad? I've read all about dryads! I've never met one before though! That's so interesting. Anyway, it's nice to meet you, Arrowleaf. I hope we can be friends, even after this whole problem is over."

 

When Paradox walked up to them, Moonbeam greeted him. "Oh, hi, Paradox."

 

(OOC: I got ninja'd, but please assume this happened before Paradox arrived)

Arrow nodded. "Mmhm. That's actually why I wanted to talk to you...Now it doesn't really need to be said in private but. You said you would be taking over death's job...well, I am one thousand four hundred years old...most of those years I spent asleep. But I just wanted to tell you that...there could be someone out there who may Want death's job...and you don't have to be the one to become death. And if you do. You are welcome to come to my garden for tea any time." She said, giving him a warm smile.

Paradox felt himself giving a light blush. This pony didn't look like she was that old, and she looked rather... Pretty. "I-I will be sure to do that, I have no plans on giving up that job, others who may want it could be wanting it to use for evil. I just want to bring peace back."

"Oh! Uhm, not really, just getting out the map to study, see the best course through the Everfree and all..."

When Paradox walked up to them, Moonbeam greeted him. "Oh, hi, Paradox."

Arrow nodded at Moonbeam. "One more thing...my garden isn't that far away from here...it would be a safe place to prepare for the trip to the changeling kingdom." She found herself glancing over at Shade for a moment. "Anyway...I just thought I would offer, we wouldn't need to worry about those...things coming and finding us." She said.

Arrow nodded at Moonbeam. "One more thing...my garden isn't that far away from here...it would be a safe place to prepare for the trip to the changeling kingdom." She found herself glancing over at Shade for a moment. "Anyway...I just thought I would offer, we wouldn't need to worry about those...things coming and finding us." She said.

"That, uh... that wouldn't be a bad idea, why don't you lead us to it?" He nodded as she spoke of the changelings. "Yes, I know how bad they are, but... I've heard not all of them are bad. And we musn't judge them all for what a select number of them did, no matter how bad it was."

Nightfall had made the mad dash silently, not showing his slight sense of fear. He found the others, but hid in a tree, listening, plotting, seeing how he could maybe change the group a little.

"You want me to scout ahead, Paradox? I got wings and magic, not to mention a small cache of weapons out here."

"No, actually, for right no, we need to stick together. Arrow has invited us to her garden, which should be safe, and we can talk of strategy and the details of the trip there. And there is more that I need to tell everypony, anyways, so come with us. Scouting can wait."

"That sounds like a good idea. We should prepare there, if it's safe. I have an idea how to get into the Changeling Empire through the forest, but we might want to plan ahead more. I have a lot of friends who live in the forest that will make sure we're safe as we travel through it.  Although some of them are a bit...batty," she said with a chuckle. "Lead the way, Arrowleaf!"

"No, actually, for right no, we need to stick together. Arrow has invited us to her garden, which should be safe, and we can talk of strategy and the details of the trip there. And there is more that I need to tell everypony, anyways, so come with us. Scouting can wait."

 

"You wasted time blabbing in the tavern, Paradox," he said, moving and hoping his deep blue coat would keep him at least hard-to-find if not invisible.

"I'll come along, but I'll need to grab my weapons... Just watch your backs~"

He moved off slowly, trying not to give himself away.

Arrow nodded. "I'll take whoever want's to go right now and i'll leave a trail for the others. There's water and some food if anypony didn't have time to get there stuff or something...try not to hurt my plants, and if you do eat the fruit, try to be gentle when you pick it." She said, walking into the forest. A couple vines sprouted from the ground and followed closely behind her.

 

After a few minutes of walking they arrived in a small clearing. the ground was covered in moss and there were a few trail's leading around to a stream and a few benches that were made out of tree's. "There's some fruit over there and the stream is fed from a spring so you can drink the water. Make yourself at home...but be careful...some of my plants like to play games." She said, walking over to a small patch of moss and sitting down.

Dox looked around the garden, impressed. he walked over and filled his canteen in the spring and took a drink, then walked over and sat next to Arrow. "Wow, this is... impressive, to say in the least. I really kinda like it here, it's rather peaceful... a lot nicer than the rest of the world at the moment."

Moonbeam followed Arrow to her garden, sitting at a bench near the gurgling stream. She placed her bag at her side before taking a quick sip from the stream. "Paradox, come here! We should look at that map and figure out where exactly we're going," she called.

Dox looked around the garden, impressed. he walked over and filled his canteen in the spring and took a drink, then walked over and sat next to Arrow. "Do you know where exactly in changeling territory the sword might be?"

Paradox nodded as she plotted out the path through the forest, making sure to take mental notes of all of the places she talked about. He looked up at her from the map at her and said, "Well, that's the thing... The sword actually lays deep within the hive... In the queen's palace. That was one of the things I wated to tell you all about before we were interuppted."

"I don't think I've ever seen a garden as beautiful as this before. Do you tend to the entire place all by yourself? It's quite incredible."

Arrow nodded. "Yes I did. Thank's." She said, smiling and pulling her hooves away from the grass which had slowly been growing up her hind legs. "That's one thing you're all going to want to watch out for...the plants like to play games and sometimes the stronger vines like to...catch you." She chuckled and walked over to the stream. She filled a small bucket with water and poured it over a few flowers which all seemed to shake, and even grow a little as the water seeped into the soil around them.

Moonbeam blinked at him blankly. "Wow, that really is a challenge." She took out her quill and traced a path through the massive blob on the map that was used to represent the mysterious Everfree Forest before ending it in an X. "In that case we'll want to leave here. Once we get into the Hive, though, I'll have about the same knowledge of the terrain as anyone else. We should really let the others know just how dangerous this is going to be though. Oh," she said suddenly, leaning closer and lowering her voice, "Have you noticed anything...strange...about Shade?"

Nightfall had silently tracked them, having grabbed his two swords. He stopped before the clearing began, slowly tracking Paradox.

"Oi! Paradox!"

He came out into the clearing. 

"Thought I had left? Or did you forget about me?"

He grinned maliciously, but meant no harm.

"Actually, no, I just suspected that she wasn't one for much talking. Why, does something seem off about her to you?" He looked around to see if he could spot her, but couldn't. He looked back to Moonbeam.

Dox facehoofed. "No, nopony has forgotten about you. We've just been busy studying the map... Among other things..." He gave a split second glance to Arrow, then said, "Well, it's soo nice of you to join us now, Nightfall. Please, take a brake for a bit." He got up and went to inspect the fruit.

"Just...just forget about it," Moonbeam said hesitantly. When Nightfall suddenly popped out of the woods behind them and called out to Paradox loudly, she got so scared and surprised that she fell backwards and landed with a splash in the stream behind her. She rolled off of her back melancholically, as she got drenched by the water. She stood up and glared at Nightfall, as she stalked off towards Arrow and Lost Knowledge.

Dox looked over and saw Nightfall had scared Moonbeam into falling into the stream and getting soaked to the bone. "Oh, now look what you've done!" He shouted at him as he hurried after Moonbeam. "Hey, are you okay?" He levitated a towel from his saddlebag and gave it to her.

"I'm fine," she tried to reassure him to no avail. She pouted a little as she thanked Paradox for the towel and continued walking away. She approached Lost and Arrow and said with a bit of despair still in her voice, "Hi, guys. We charted our course for the journey. What are you two doing?" She was still dripping wet, though she tried to dry herself with the towel as best as she could.

"Well, I can't speak for Arrow, but I was mostly just waiting for you two. I came to the meeting at the bar fully prepared, so I'll be ready to leave as soon as everypony else is. So, what's the plan, exactly?"
