He shook his head. "No... I'm the one who should be sorry... I pulled a bunch of strangers into a group and expected them to all get along together and help me do this, but I shouldn't have. And now I've endangered everypony here by doing so." He looked around at the others, his eye lingering a bit longer on Arrow than the others. He then looked down and sighed. "I knew this was bad from the start. Hell, even the princesses were too afraid to even send their armies in against Death..."

"They didn't think they could defeat death; they didn't have a push or an ambition like the one you gave us."

Nightfall sighed.

"We're all in this together now. We have to continue now."

He looked at Paradox.

"And... and we'll make it through. Look," he said, getting a little close and whispering.

"If you really like Arrow, tell her now. If we do this, she'll like you back."

"And here I am, thinking that I can get this small band of ponies to do the impossible. I... I think that it'd be best if everypony here went home and left me to finish this myself. I don't want to see anypony here getting hurt, especially..." He looks at Arrow. "I think it's best if we part ways here." He then got up and walked out of the garden and into the Everfree forest.

"Damn it, Paradox!"

Nightfall trotted after him.

"You can't just leave them without telling them! Arrow will think you've been killed, and the others are still targets of death!"

He stopped in front of Paradox.

"If you're going, at least take me. I've never felt like I've done something useful, and I can't go on feeling like that. At least if I die, I'll die with a purpose."

Lost Knowledge shook his head.

 

"There's no way I'm letting you go off on your own. I came along because I knew the danger and I decided it was more important to help put a stop to this. Now we're in this together, and if we split up, we don't have any hope of succeeding."

He pushed his way by. "No, you stay with the others, they'll need your help to stay safe. I'm going to do this alone... And tell Arrow... I love her." With that, Paradox ran deep into the forest.

Nightfall couldn't track of Paradox, and soon found himself back in the garden. He didn't want to tell them anything, and his mouth was dry, but he tried anyway.

"Paradox- Paradox is gone. He left. He told me he had to go do this alone."

Nightfall looked up at all of them.

"But he isn't. If we can get there before he does, then we can go into the Changeling Kingdom with him."

"No, don't go..." called Moonbeam after Paradox, trailing off at the end. "Without me, you won't be safe from the forest. I..." She bowed her head and sighed.

 

When Nightfall returned, explaining the bad news, she puffed out her chest, raised her chin, and spoke. "He's right. We have to keep going. We've gone so far, and we can't let Paradox try to do this alone. And Nightfall," she said, walking up to him and putting a reassuring hoof on his shoulder, "is going to lead us. So, what do you say?" she said, addressing the group.

Paradox walked through the thick undergrowth of the forest, continuously getting caught in vines and scratched by thorns, but he pushed on. He regretted leaving them almost immediately, but he needed to take care of this on his own. He closed his eyes and invisioned the map in his head. Tartarus lay to the east, and while passing close by it would shave a day of traveling off, he didn't want to risk it. Instead, he chose to go along the long cliffs to the west.

Arrow stood up from the ground, still visibly upset. She was about to call after Paradox but it was too late. *I let everypony come into my garden...A massive monster comes and destroys my garden...and now Paradox thinks he can do this on his own ? So all of this happened for nothing. No. NO.* She thought, looking around at the plants and flowers that Grak had destroyed.

Without saying another word Arrow started walking deeper into the forest where Paradox had run off.

Dox continued to try and get farther into the forest, but for some reason, he just kept getting stuck in vines. "What the hell, why can't I get out of these vines?! It's like they're trying to hold me... back... aww, crud, Arrow's doing this, isn't she?" He said to himself. He struggled and finally got free of them, running in the general direction of the cliffs. It was almost light, and he could nearly make them out entirely.

Arrow spread her leafy wings and flew above the tree's. *Where is he ? WHERE IS HE ?* She thought, as the sun began to peek over the horizon. Then, she spotted a figure running towards the cliff's. "PARADOX WAIT." She called, landing on the ground and running as fast as she could towards him.

Dox heard her shouting his name, but paid it no heed. He just kept running at full blast towards the cliff faces, hoping to find a cave he could hide in. Instead, he tripped over a rock and flipped head over hooves... right over the cliff's edge.

Moonbeam saw Arrow run off. "Not her too..." she said with despair. Even she can't handle herself in the deeper part of the forest. There are things there they could never imagine.

 

"What about the rest of you? Are you coming?" she asked the rest of the great, walking beside Lost and looking out ta the rest of the group.

Arrow's anger instantly turned to panic. "NO." She yelled.

Without a second's hesitation she spread her wings and flew as fast as she could towards the cliff, then she dived over the cliff's edge. She extended her forelegs, getting ready to catch  Paradox.

Paradox was just about to hit the water when something caught him and pulled him back up. He nervously looked up and saw Arrow carrying him up to the cliff edge. "WHY!? WHY DID YOU COME AFTER ME!?" He yelled over the wind in the cavernous canyon that nearly made him deaf.

Arrow landed on the edge of the cliff and glared at Paradox. "After everything we went through...you kissed me. That...thing destroyed my garden. All of us want to help you and did what we could to help you kill that monster...and now you're just running off ? Like it was all for nothing ? You are NOT allowed to do that to us." She said, angrily. Then out of the no where, she kissed him. "NEVER, Leave me like that again."

Paradox turned his head away from the kiss, so she only got to kiss his cheek. "I'm sorry, Arrow, but... I had no right to drag you all on this dangerous mission. Now, if you'll exscuse me..." He got up and dusted himself off. "I've got somewhere that I need to go. I suggest you go back to Nightfall and the others." He started to walk off again, looking at the ground to make sure he didn't trip again.

Arrow ran up next to Paradox. "I am one thousand four hundred years old, Paradox. I know what I am supposed to do and what I am not supposed to do. I am not letting you do this alone. And there is Nothing you can say that will change my mind." She said, stubbornly.

Arrow grinned. "Good...Now we should wait here for the others. You can tell them the danger's and anypony who doesn't want to come can go back to Ponyville." She said, smiling mischievously. "Everypony was very upset that you just ran off. And none of them looked like they were going to give up on you. You're stuck with us till the end."

He shook his head. "No. I'm sorry, but it's bad enough that you're in danger by being with me, we don't need the others with us. Besides, it'll be much quicker with just the two of us." He picked up his pace a bit.

Arrow groaned and sped up a little so she could stay next to Dox. "When we finish this...they're not gonna be happy." She said.

*Oh I hope the garden is ok...that big brute did allot of damage...I hope it will fix itself up.* She thought, glancing over her shoulder.

Shade had been scouting paradox and arrow, she was staying in the dark but was close enough to hear them. She could really feel the love around them, she was really tempted to jump in there and feed on them, but she didnt. She knows that feeding on love is bad. But sometimes she just can't help herself.

 

She keeps looking at them debating weather to feed or not. She eventually got tired of waiting and made a move.

"So you two are planning to leave the others? That's nice" she said as she walked out of the dark.

"Yeah, but at least they'll be safe." He looked out from the cliff at the view. "Wow... It really looks beautiful, dosen't it?" He sat for a moment and stared out at it all. Then he had an idea. "ECHO!!!" His voice did echo, but the boulders that began falling didn't. He looked up and saw them, along with something... odd in the sky. Well, that explained how they were tracked. But for now, he had to get Arrow out of the way of the rocks. He tackled her and sheilded her with his body.

 

Paradox jumped when he heard Shade's voice. "D-dammit, Shade! What are you doing here!? Go back to the others now! I don't need you here too! I'm sorry, but go!" He glared at her. He really wanted to be alone with Arrow, and now, with the path out, all the walking they would have to do would just give him more time with her.
