[Marathon 562]

"It's open." Star called from under the blanket's.

She wasn't in the mood to talk but she didn't want to just send whoever was at the door away...maybe it was Moonbeam or Keeper...or Hop. Whoever it was Star was feeling slightly lonely, but at the same time she just wanted to be left alone. She rolled back onto her side and curled up into a ball...again.

Hop hesitantly opened the door and saw Star curled up on the bed. A wave of sadness hit her and she quietly made her way over to the bed. "Star? You alright?" She asked almost inaudibly. Now she really felt like crap for leaving Star the way she did. *great job me, great job...*

Star looked up. "Oh...hi Hop...yea, i'm okay. I was just...tired." She said, sitting up all the way and rubbing her eyes with her hooves. "You...uh...you feeling better ?" She asked, unsure what else to say or do. She leaned against the end of the bed. "You can come in if you would like." She said.

"Yeah, im better." Hop said softly. She was confused by Stars statement. She was already in the room... Unless Star meant... No. "Uhh, Star... Youre not wanting me to... Star blushed and threw the blankets over her head, trying to hide it. "Oh...I m-mean...I'm s-sorry...that came out all wrong. I m-meant you can sit down...if you'd l-like." She said, sticking her hoof out from under the blankets too point at two chairs across from the bed.

Star held up her hoof. "Its ok Hop." She said, giving her a small smile. "So...um." Star blushed, finding herself in the same situation as Hop.

*Just ask her something...start a conversation.* She thought, tapping her front hooves together, unsure what she should say.

"Oh, you're just being modest. You're a very smart pony!" she said, gesturing with her forehoof. "And it doesn't matter if you're a little clumsy. You have a very good heart, and that's what really matters." After saying this, she got a little more reserved and nervous before saying, "So...you don't want to be in a relationship?"

Well, he froze. His eyes opened wide and his jaw was fixed shut. Anypony may have even thought he wasn't breathing. After a few seconds of petrifies staring he spoke in a rather nervous tone. "You really got me good there...  oh wait, you weren't joking. Um...  I... " Star's gaze feel to the ground suddenly, fiddling around with his hooves. "I mean I do like you and all, I do, it's just that...   well...  I'm no good at relationships. They don't usually end well and both ponies leave worse off. I don't know if I can take that risk again, I don't want to hurt you..."

She was just asking about whether he was interested in relationships at all. She wasn't trying to ask him out. But to be honest, Moonbeam was interested in him. She had never met such a wonderful stallion before. However, all of those hopes were (rainbow) dashed now.

 

"...Oh...okay..." she muttered, bowing her head sadly. "I understand."

((OOC: I would just like to say, i've noticed a theme in romance RPs of things just working out perfectly straight away - I refuse to take that course this time))   "I...what?" he stood up straight (on all fours) and looked down at her - he was surprisingly tall, despite how short he looked normally - on account of him spending his entire standing time hunched over to look smaller. "Of course I do!" there was a sudden deepening in his voice, and it was filled with an unusual aura of defiance "Of course I consider you a friend! You're the only one who has actually spoken to me properly out of kindness. Not to mention putting up with me being...well...me!" His eyes widened suddenly, as if in realisation of something "oh my Celestia...i'm so sorry..." his eyes filled with tears as he turned and galloped down the hall, almost knocking a couple over as he shot past. 

(Well, I wasn't planning on the romance working instantly anyway)

 

Fiera was more surprised than anything. 'What?' was something that ran through her mind a couple of times. She was happy at his response, but confused at his running away and apology. She chased after him, hoping to get an answer. "Dusk, wait! What did I say?"

Dusk heard her behind him and he fought with himself as to stop or keep going. He chose the former of the two, skidding to a halt and almost breaking a plant pot. He didn't turn around, to keep the tears from her view and he tried to keep his voice steady "I just...I can't. I want to, but I can't..." he thumped the floor in frustration at how stupid he was being "I just...you need...there are better ponies on this train, you don't need me keeping you from making other friends..." he could barely hold back just breaking down "and the shadows are watching us." he mumbled.

"I do like you though...  and I think that it's still a...  definite possibility."  Okay, that sounded a bit odd. "I mean...  I'll most certainly take it into full consideration. No...  wait... this is difficult." Star took a deep breath and regained his composure. "Okay, well I think that relationships tend to end up badly for a few reasons, but I'm not ruling anything out." Okay this is just getting painful to listen to, do something other than dig yourself in deeper.

 

Star Keeper tossed all thoughts of reason and consequence out the window as he simply leaned in quickly and kissed her. after a few second he quickly pulled back and continued to fiddle with his forehooves. "That's my really long and obscure way of saying yes."

I will" she said the last part sadly, starting to walk back to her room slowly with her head hung low.

"I...I guess we both have a special somepony now," she said with a nervous little laugh. She stood up beside the table, her dress swishing as she moved. "It...um...the sun has probably gone down by now. We could go look at the stars together...I mean, if you want to."

Dusks ears perked up when he heard her talk about leaving. He quickly wiped what tears he could from his cheeks and turned around, putting a hoof on her back. "Please...stay...I dont...sometimes I just, I freak out. Please...i'm sorry." he forced a smile, but was genuine at the same time.

Fiera smiled widely and turned around instantly, she quickly stepped forward and hugged Dusk tightly. "Thank you... I didn't want to go back to my room. I enjoy being with you Dusk..." she admitted. A small blush came across her face, but quickly went away. (CL :<)

Star felt himself being tugged off his chair without warning, now trying to keep up with Moonbeam as they cantered towards her room. After tripping a couple of times on this air due to being pulled along, Star decided he was capable of using his won hooves.Her room luckily wasn't too far away and they seemed to reach it in not time, funny enough not really coming across any pony on the way. "Here we are then."

Dusk found himself actually hugging back this time, at least partially anyway. "You're...you're the first one I can honestly say that back to" he chuckled a little, wiping away the remainder of the tears from his eyes, before breaking the hug and stepping back, looking Fiera in the eye. "I am sorry though, about that...it was...well, you didn't need that, and I really don't know what came over me."

Moonbeam took out her key and opened the door, gesturing for Star to enter with her. The room smelled like the floral perfume she had put on for the dinner, but otherwise, it was pretty normal. She pulled up two chairs by the huge window, and pulled the string at the window, pulling aside the velvet curtains. The bright, white light of the full moon shined into the room. The moon seemed very beautiful that night, and the countless stars dotted the sky, twinkling in the darkness. She sat down and a single word fell past her lips as she smiled.

 

"Beautiful."

*Ding* "All non-essential facilities on the train will be shutting down in five minutes, as according to Curfew. Everypony, please return to your rooms. We shall arrive in Buffalo in the morning." *Ding*

 

Rag's ears perked from where she sat in the bar, and got to her hooves, slightly dizzily. She would have been fired if she had gotten more than even slightly tipsy. Ah well. 

 

As the engineer's voice faded over the intercom, her brother appeared at her shoulder. She glared at him shortly. 

 

"Come on, sis. We need to enforce curfew." She grudgingly agreed, and together, they trotted down the train, Tag on the upper floor, his sister on the lower, each respectfully requesting that the ponies they passed return to their rooms. 

 

((If I do not see a post about your character returning to their cabin, at the very least, I'll assume you've dropped out of the RP and promptly replace you in Buffalo.))

 

 

 

Elsewhere on the train, Encore groaned. To return to his room would mean to, quite inconveniently have to pass by Jabber and Accent again. He trotted back onto the spa hallway, and was not entirely surprised to see the pair of them still there.

While waiting for Jabber to reply again, Accent smiled once Encore came back through, and immediately ditched Jabber to talk with Encore. She was very fascinated by him... She really wanted to talk with him some more.

 

"Hi Encore!", Accent said, as she walked back with him, leaving Jabber by himself. It was actually a good thing that he came around. The intercom mentioned something about curfew...

Hops ears erected when she head the message about going to their rooms. "Well i guess i better get going... I'll see you in the morning i guess?" Hop stood up a went over to Star and kissed her quickly on the cheek. "Umm, yeah, bye." Hop left the room and promptly went to her own and got in the bed. She laid awake for a while before finally falling asleep.
