Crystal began to stroke her mane, trying to calm her down. "Do you... do you want to talk about it? I can listen... and make a soundproof shield if you don't want others to..."

Crystal cast a spell, canceling the shield on Lightning's skin and creating a soundproof, solid shield. Unlike most of her shields, this one wasn't transparent from the outside. "Nobody will be able to hear you or even see you from outside now. You can say anything you want, and I'll be the only one to know." The larger shield that had stopped them originally vanished.

Ampyrion walked through the burning building, heading towards the stairs. Along the way, he sent a spark of magic at a few smoldering cinders. They winked out instantly. Natural fire, he thought. I'll have to get to the top quick. Spotting the stiars, he began carefully climbing. He half expected them to cave in underneath him, but to his relief, they never did.

He never knew the tower was so tall. He had been climbing at least seven flights of stairs by now, and was starting to lose hope, when he finally saw the exit. Maybe...I'll stop to take a short break, he thought, stopping to place a hoof on the step above him. "Ahh!" The stairs he was resting on,and those beneath it gave way beneath his weight, crumbling from the bottom up in a pile of rubble. Ampyrion slipped, the one hoof he had placed on the topmost step stopping his fall momentarily. Instinctively, he sank his teeth into the stair and held on as the staircases below him collapsed to form a gaping chasm beneath him. A chasm that was starting to fill with smoke.

"Grr..." Come on, you can do this. His teeth gave a jolt of pain. You're stronger than this...His hoof started slipping from the stair. Try harder! The chunk of stair he was biting broke off from the starcase, and he was left with a piece of wood in his mouth. His hoof slipped to the edge. The citizens of Appleloosa are counting on you. Your friends are counting on you. He spat out the piece of wood. "Adrenaline, don't fail me now." Summoning the last bit of his strength, he braced his other front hoof on the edge of the stiar and hauled himself up the stair. It began cracking beneath his weight. For bucking sake, can't a pony get any rest around here? He jumped up, clearing three more stairsteps before landing neatly on the floor of the bell tower, and collapsing from exhaustion.

Cloud slowly aroused from his sleep with a groan, his side stung like fire, he looked at the bandages and saw they were crimson, "Damn" muttered Cloud distortedly, "How much more medical supplies do we have? I need to be wrapped up again soon"... He looked around and saw the current situation of everypony. "How much did miss?" He asked groggily...

"When I was a little filly, and the sun was going down a stallion broke into my house and killed both my parents. I was taken away to an orphanage where I met many other orphans. After a few years there, I was kicked out. The orphanage had gone out of business. I had traveled through Equestria every day since, trying to find ponies to love and maybe even call a family. But everypony dies. Everypony dies after I meet them. If I don't kill myself, you could all die!" Lightning cried, her face turning red, "I don't want you to die..."

Crystal went up to Lightning and gave her another hug. "We're not going to die. I promise you that we're not going to die. If you killed yourself, I don't think we would thank you. I think we..." Crystal signals to Electro, Nidal, and Cloud. "I think we would be devastated if you were to die, so stop thinking like that and be happy. You have a family, right here. Don't you see them?"

 

Nidal pointed to the solid blue sphere. "CS and LB are in there talking about something. Seems LB tried to kill herself."

(I'm trying to clear something with Strong Hooves atm but he hasn't responded yet. Keep rp'ing and pretend while all this is going on Ampyrion is still going up the staircase)

Cloud wasn't really able to really determine the seriousness in his current condition, instead he lowered his head again as he got dizzy and said "that's harsh" quite plainly.

Ampyrion glanced around the bell tower. For once, he had found an area free of fire. Staggering towards the window, he blearily peered down. The town was completely invisible due to the hazy smoke. "Come on," growled Ampyrion angrily. "I didn't come here and almost die for nothing!" He redoubled his efforts, but couldn't see a thing. Even the few sparks of magic he sent at the smoke cover couldn't pierce the dark shroud.

 

I can't sit here and do nothing. Every second I delay is another civilian burned to cinders. Think. THINK. He sent probes of thought in all directions, and realized there was an abundant source of water near him. Glancing up in surprise, he saw heavy storm clouds gathering on the mountaintops just to the east of town. Water, he thought. If I could just focus. He closed his eyes and tried to ignore the screams of citizens. Come ON! He felt out the water in the clouds, and began shaping it, trying to draw it towards the town. But the water that did arrive was too scattered. He watched disheartedly as the few sprinkles of water that managed to survive the trip evaporated under the intense heat.

 

I'm trying. I promise I am! There has to be another way. He willed the clouds to move closer to his location, but they stayed immobile, taunting him over the mountaintops. Can I burst the pipes? His jets of water that he redirected from the sewer system were stopped in their tracks by the thick steel plating that were the pipes. Please, something work! He tried moving the clouds again, but the screams coming from below distracted him. He lost his focus.

I give up, he thought sadly. I can't do this.He looked down at the still-smoldering town, before sadly turning away to proceed back down the stairs. He froze halfway, as reality sunk into him like a pit. The stairs were gone. There was no way out. He stood there like a statue, unsure of what to do, before turning back to the window, and sitting down. This is it then. A single teardrop slashed to the ground. I tried my best, everypony...The teardrop was joined by another, and then two more. A slight breeze blew through the chapel, and the teardrops scattered in converging directions, until they were just a single miniature puddle. Ampyrion frowned, looking at the teardrops for a long time.

 

One last try. For my friends. Shakily getting up, he glanced out the window. I can't let any of you guys down, he thought, everypony in the group and their personality lingering in his mind. And I won't. He reached out to the water again, this time not for a direct source. Water, anywhere. Please. As he shut his eyes, images flashed through his mind. Those of his parents. The fateful day in the flower shop. The adventures through the Everfree and the courage of the ponies with him that helped him through it. The images flashed faster and faster through his mind, as magic began pulsing in his horn. And now, it's my turn. His horn trembled once, then the pent-up magic exploded, knocking him backwards to the ground.

D-Did I do it? He shakily got to his hooves and stood back up. He peered out the window one last time. The death and destruction of the fire, and the smoky haze that accompanied it rose to greet him, along with the usual screams and roaring. "Buck. I...I thought I had it that time." He hung his head in defeat and shut his eyes, as the roaring escalated.

 

What is that roaring anyway? Don't tell me the manticore brought his friends.

His eyes snapped open again. The same scene greeted him. But just to the east, he could see a wall of blue rushing to meet the inferno. He blinked once, not comprehending. And then he realized. It was a tidal wave.

 

(Sorry for long post, didn't want to break this one up into small bits)

Lightning stopped crying. Crystal was right. They were her family. "You- you're right!" She started, a smile starting to appear on her face, "You're all my family!" Her smile was wide now, and she was giggling. "And I've found somepony I love..."

"Then go get th-" She saw a wave of blue behind Lightning and proceeded to put her shield around everyone in the group instead of just the two of them. She removed the soundproof shield and began to shrink the larger circle. "Nidal, Electro! Get closer!"

 

Nidal saw the water and quickly went closer to CS, C2 still on her back.

After having cried for what felt like forever, he finally looked up and saw Lightning and Crystal looking at him, before hearing what Crystal shouted out. Looking behind himself for a second, he saw this enormous wave coming at him as he suddenly got on all four hooves and high-tailed it closer towards the barrier.

Cloud's head rose up again as Nidal began to move, he saw the wall of water heading their way, but even then couldnt grasp the seriousness of the situation, "Well... I was thinking that I was so thirsty I could drink a lake... but I didnt mean it literally..."

Crystal made the shield covering as small amount of area as she could and stacked multiple shields up, hoping that the shield lasts through the tidal wave.

 

((TIDAL WAVE! MAKE IT HAPPEN!))

Ampyrion watched, aghast, as the enormous wall of water crashed into the small town, instantly flattening the buildings along the eastern edges of the town. Water gushed across the dirt streets, washing away the rubble blockades, and sending bodies flying into the air. Building supports crumbled under the pressure, and the inferno that had been ravaging the town just a minute before suddenly winked out of existence as the town was engulfed in a flood of water, vanishing the smoky haze in just a few seconds.

Then, just as quickly as the tidal wave had appeared, the vast desert ground on which Appleloosa stood swallowed it right back up. The dusty dirt that made up the desert turned into saturated mud. Long-dry rivers and wells filled up with water, effectively turning the dry drought of a desert into a mud pit.

 

When everything had cleared, a large river cut through where the rail line used to be, and ponies were butting each other out of the way to be the first to get the water that they so desperately needed. The once-dry ground was now muddy and fertile. The town was soaking wet, but the burning buildings that the inferno had not already destroyed were now put out. Ponies were no longer suffocating in the clouds of smoke. Appeloosa was safe.

 

Ampyrion passed out from exhaustion.
