"We should go read it then. We need to find out what it is that we need to do! If you don't mind, that is," Quinky said.

Splash Paint bounded up the street. She froze when she heard Emerald's comment.

"Defeat the Queen? I know a perfect time for that! I was invited to her Ball and I'm allowed to bring friends. I was gonna bring Quinky here, but he seems busy. All ya'll need is a little outfit that your Element blends with and Voila! You sneak up on the Queen and put her out. She'll probably turn to stone. By the way, I'm Splash. I'm not an Element of Harmony..." she said.

"Oh, by the way, I'm Quinky Bolts, and I'm Loyalty," Quinky introduced.

Ramona shrugged, "I'm just assuming it because everyone else is assuming it. I guess I'll-" Ramona's eyes widened when she saw that the element of Generousity's color was cream white, like her coat. "I suppose I am. Well, I'm pretty sure, I really don't now much about The Elements of Harmony." Ramona answered.

Emerald nodded at Splash Paint. "That would help, I didn't get an invitation to the Queen's '100'th anniversary of my queendom' Because apparently, in her letter I am a 'Disgrace to all pony kind.'" Emerald sighed, and sat down on a rock nearby. "She even said that I am a piece of scum. That nopony should ever talk to me."

"But I am allowed to bring anypony. The Queen herself said so. And it's a Masquerade Ball, so nopony will recognize you. Just be sure to wear a lot of gold trimmings to match your Element. And the Queen doesn't know that the Elements change color, so she won't recognize the Elements," Splash said. "I formally extend my invitation to all of ya'll. There! That wasn't so hard. What's ya'lls names, anywho?"

Delia smiled as she was greeted warmly by the group. "My name is Delia and as you may have noticed i do not come from here." She said as she got ready to respond to Emeralds comment. "Taking down the Queen? Sounds like fun though i do have a question if that is alright." She said.

"Names Flying Ace, and as you guess I'm the Element of Laughter. I still can't believe this, this is too cool to be real!" Ace's smile faded at Emeralds comment but return in a flash. "Hey cheer up the queen Dosent know you. Your a pretty fun pony to hang out with."

"Well, it's settled then. But we need to have a name. And decide who should be our leader. I vote Clover 'cause she's Magic," Quinky said. "And where are we supposed to get Ball outfits? And where are we gonna get masks?"

Splash waved her hoof dismissively.

"We'll worry about details later. Can I join this club? I'm not an Element, but I am a Queen's Favorite, though we all secretly hate her," Splash said.

Emerald looked at Splash Paint. "I guess so, I mean if there aren't any rules against it...I'm Emerald, nice to meet you!" She held out her hoof or a hoof bump.

 

She looked at Quinky wordily."I....don't have any money to pay for a costume. What are we going to do? The queen will kick my sorry flank to the dungeon if I don't wear one."

"Don't worry, I can cover all costs. I'm a Queen's Favorite, remember? We have practically unlimited funds! Um, are we gonna go read that book or what?" Splash blurted out. She sneezed politely but tripped over a rock in doing so.

Clover blushed. "Thank you, everypony," she said. "I'd be happy to be leader. As for dresses, I could always help out with alterations or something like that. I have a gown I can wear, and a spare one, too. Maybe it could be cut down or something to fit anypony who needs one? Cuz we will have to dress up, or the Queen won't even let us into the dance."

Ramona spoke up a bit, "The queen hasn't noticed me, really, but, I love dressing up! .....Oh yeah.....this isn't just like going to a soiree or something is it? Hehehe!" Ramona giggled nervously. Ramona absolutely loved dressing up, but this was not a dress-up party, and Ramona needed to understand that.

"If we are planning on defeating the Queen then who will be the replacement?" Delia said. "I would also like to say that i have never actually worn a dress before."  She added while turning to Splash. Delia felt comfortable with these ponies though she didn't know why. "Yes, can we read the book? I have many questions about these 'Elements of Harmony' that need an answer."

"Well, the theater where I work have extra dresses and masked we can use though I'm not wearing one. As for the elements I read about them and the only thing I remember are the names of the last element weilders which are: Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie." Once Ace said that name a shiver went down his spine yet he didn't know why.

"We shouldn't discuss this out in the street," Clover said, nervously looking about her. "Everypony, come back to my house and I can put a protection spell there so that nopony can overhear us. And we can look at the book I have on the Elements of Harmony and find out exactly what we're dealing with."

"Well, let's get going then!" Quinky exclaimed. They all began trotting back towards Clover's house.

"Soooo, Clover, can I join ya'lls club? I have a lot of resources and a plan...but it's a bit complex. I may not be an Element, but I can be helpful. Please say yes! Anywho, here's the plan: we all go to the Ball, right? Well, once we're there and everypony else, we don't start yet. The Queen will pick her Ultimate Favorite, but not after a trial. Some say that she Changes into Celestia to test Loyalty, but others don't agree. Anyway, after she's made her announcement, we approach her with 'professional entertainment.' She'll be delighted, and when ya'll get into formation, you cast off your fancy dresses and masks and use your Elements. She'll be gone, and Luna and Celestia will go free. It'll be as easy as pie!" Splash giggled.

"Sure you can," Clover replied with a smile. "We'll need all the help we can get, especially getting into the party in the first place."

 

Eventually, Clover led the other ponies to her house. She let them all in, and showed them into the main room, where there was a couch, a few chairs and some floor cushions.

Delia followed the pony into the abode. "you are the one called Clover, correct?" She said as she began to bow her head. "I thank you for welcoming me into your home. If it is alright with you i will stand next to the couch." She said as she trotted to the couch.

"That's right," Clover said. "Everypony, sit down and I will go and get the book."

 

Clover trotted into the next room, which was where she kept her books, including the spell books she'd written herself. She took a short while to find the Elements book but eventually came back into the living room with it, carrying it with her horn magic.

Ace and splash were chatting along, "ok, I like this plan and even better I can be the entertainment for the queen, using my acting and illusions to distract her then we use our elements and save the day! Heheheh this is such an awasome plan you came up with Splash but how did you become a favorite of the queen?"

"There's only six Elements listed, but maybe more evolved over time," Clover replied. "After all, this is a very old book." She leafed thru the pages til she found the part that described what the Elements did when they worked together.

 

"According to this book," she said. "The Elements together can defeat any enemy, as long as the ponies who carry them believe in themselves and work together."

Delia listened along to the reading. "This all sounds very interesting. She said. "I was taught to always believe in myself, even if others doubted me." Delia then looked over to Splash.

 

"I would also like to hear the tale of how you became a Queens favourite, I you do not mind."

"It's not too grand a tale, but here we go!" Splash said."My parents are very, very rich. The Queen received endless gifts from them for no reason. i found out later that it was to butter her up. When she decided to pick favorites, my parents sent me. She chose five of us. I was the first. She tested us, but seemed to favor me even before the tests started. In the end, I was chosen."

"May I see that?" Quinky asked Clover.

Clover handed him the book. He flipped a couple of pages until a page caught his eye.

"The prophecy of the Queen," he read. "The Queen will take over..before Celestia goes, she casts a spell that makes the next Wielders find the Elements...and two are created. One is Devotion and the other is Respect. Friends cannot be friends without all eight of these. More will come in later prophecies, but not now. Who's Devotion and who's Respect? And how do we summon them?"

Just then, their Elements began to glow. A flash of light from Clover's tiara and two new necklaces appear. One has a green egg and the other a yellow heart.

'Devotion and Respect. I see the symbolism. Heart for Devotion, as in love for your friends, and an egg to show respect as if not to pry at each other's secrets and such, I guess...' Quinky gasped.

Storm Cloud knocked on the door and saod in a loud tone of voice, "I'm really sorry but I couldn't help but notice that you guys are talking about the Elements of Harmony? I tried to get you're attention but you were too far away so I flew over here."

"I'm Quinky Bolts. You don't work for the Queen, so ya?" Quinky asked with a mysterious look on his face.
