Orchid Briar 18 April 2, 2013 Share April 2, 2013 May I just say..... For once we got something before Japan. Lol. Now, my little ponies, TAKE OVER JAPAN! > Okay, craziness is back under control! <3 Hehe. 1 Orchid Briar : Kaleido Crescent
Bucky McGillyCuddy 956 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 Can't wait to see what the Mane Six's voices sound like in Japanese! The voice actor for Pinkie Pie is also the person that sings the intro song so that's a little preview haha. Anime subing groups might be a little hesitant to pick the project up. Seeing as though it's not actually an anime. There's someone out there who'll make it happen though. If you'd be so kind as to check out some of my drawings, I would really appreciate feedback. http://mlpforums.com/topic/82464-feedback-is-magic/?hl=feedback+is+magic#entry2127254 http://mlpforums.com/topic/82871-what-happens-when-a-pony-fights-a-griffin/?p=2178588
Zygen 6,066 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 I dunno I never really watched Anime, and I don't ever end up watching Japanese episodes of anything, so I can't say I'll watch it honestly. The different language thing is always kinda confusing, and besides the intro being more epic(Although longer) then ours. I don't see a whole lot of insentive to watch it honestly when I don't speak Japanese, besides for the heck of it. Who knows, I may watch for the heck of it anyways . 1 Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! thanksforthetea 4 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 (edited) Episode 1 (Part 1): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nD4m53M05T8 Episode 1 (Part 2): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AieW3YDIHMw No subtitles yet. Personally I watched the entire episode and understood most of it since I understand quite a bit of Japanese. For anyone that knows Japanese dialects: Can anyone tell if either Rainbow Dash or Applejack speaks in Kansai-ben? Applejack sounded like it, but I wasn't sure since I couldn't pick it up. Jammo 986 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 The floodgates are open and Hasbro is gonna see some major cash flow. You know how popular cute animals/girls doing cute things is there? They eat it up like crazy. You know why Hello Kitty prints money? Not the stories it tells. Because she's damn cute. Here comes a show that is just as adorable and is a great show to boot. The Mane Six are six huggable gold mines for that territory. Rest assured if it's a hit there, we'll like never see hippo-faced G1-3 style ponies again.

But AJ is definitely speaking with some kind of accent so either I'm wrong or she's trying to pull off a western accent.

I only know a little bit of the dialect though, so I might be able to pick it up more in the second episode or whatever. I just see Kansai-ben being as close to Southern as the Japanese can get. Haha. Banner made by me.
Rainbow Dash 1,472 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 IMO the theme song seems a little out of place for the show. The voice actor for Nightmare Moon well placed. The VA for Fluttershy made her even more adorable. R.I.P. Lord Bababa and Harmonic Revelations

Haha. I actually had this discussion with my friends when the episode was released. At first they were like "what the buck is Kansai-ben", then when I explained it they were like "That's amazing! Why is this not in there?" (Mind you that I'm still not 100% sure if I was right about that.). Also, I detect a great amount of "wakuwaku" from Pinkie Pie. Perhaps her Japanese catchphrase? One thing I want to do once I get the chance is go back and compare the background scores to the original, because I believe a few of them were remasterings and I could swear the music that plays at Twilight's welcome party is completely different, but maybe that's just my fuddled memory... . RoseLaflesh 38 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 I'm kind of split about the Japanese intro. One one hand, I love the music and I think it fits really well with the feel of the show. It's cheery and high energy. However, I'm not so sure about the images they paired with it. There's not exactly anything wrong with it, but I do like the English opening better. This kind of comes off like a fan made music video that some brony made with Movie Maker. It's not bad, but I think it could be better. 1 Chip Clover Honey Seed
Persian 46 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 Being a fan of anime, I'll probably watch a few subbed episodes to see how they translated it and to hear the voices. I'm also curious about the songs. I'm also especially curious to see who will be the japanese voice-actor for Discord. I hope it's gonna be Shigeru Chiba (japanese voice for Pilaf and Raditz from Dragon Ball, Buggy the clown from One Piece, Kefka Palazzo in Final Fantasy Dissidia and Dampierre in SoulCalibur V, amongst many others), that would be awesome! It was interesting, but I'd like to be able to know what they're saying (I haven't quite memorized the script yet ). Steamgamer27 170 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 I watched the full RAW episode and I was just thrilled. It's like my love for the show had gone through a second life. It felt great and yes I'm hoping to watch it again and the entire first season again with english subtitles because I'm curious to see how the Japanese will fit the dialogue to match their current understanding and back. It's not like you exactly know what there going to say because you watched it back then, I wanna see what small changes that this will bring. Oh and that Intro! http://youtu.be/wD7vE8PUcQs Just wow! 1 "Look upon me, Equestria, for I am Rarity!"

Yes, I agree with everything that you just said. My love for the show has only increased exponentially after watching the 1st episode . It's official, My Little Pony is best anime . For those of us living in the United States, they've blocked the japanese episode on youtube, but you can watch it on dailymotion (with english subs) in the link down below: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xyotat_tomodachi-wa-mahou-s1e1-sub_fun#.UV4pFqulBFw I'm definitely looking forward to watching episodes every week now . PianoOfMuffins 38 April 5, 2013 Share April 5, 2013 (edited) I still think the Italian opening is far better. Nicer choice of footage and comes off as being quite reasonably carefully chosen, the song is very catchy and even has an air of epicness to it, and is a piece I never tire of hearing (even though I don't know what they're saying!). The Japanese intro though, I don't know, just didn't click with me. The song I found very repetitive and boring, the footage choices seemed largely random, and overall I just didn't really like the intro all that much I'm sorry to say. Not dreadful, but the English and Italian intros both trump it if you ask me. Edited April 5, 2013 by PianoOfMuffins
WarGrowlmon1990 94 April 14, 2013 Share April 14, 2013 Aww, the Japanese intro is so cute. It kinda reminds me of the intros you'd see in those magical girl animes. I might check out the Japanese version one of these days... that is, if they've aired any Japanese episodes yet.
