Sorry, if I'm use to mod with brains, but I think that's a minimal requirement for that position in the first place.

One of the problem is, this forum already got this "kids-friendly" image cemented in its image. And apparently feld0 take that in to consideration when taking any new mods. He can't really take any superbly strict mods, in fear that many of those soft-hearted users will cry or whine when the something big and dangerous happens. Instead he will have to take a face that is familiar with everyone and famous as "the nice guy around the corner". That way he can expect this community will sort itself.

He can't really take any superbly strict mods, in fear that many of those soft-hearted users will cry or whine when the something big and dangerous happens. Instead he will have to take a face that is familiar with everyone and famous as "the nice guy around the corner". That way he can expect this community will sort itself.

Mods exist to pwn assholes, not to gather points for administration for being nice.

Their purpose is to delete content, in the end, not to be nice.

Communities will NEVER sort themselves out, that's why they NEED moderation.

Soft Mods are bad mods. They let things slide and slip the needle.

Except I'm more akin to a rage-engine when Mods fuck up, seeing as I admin'd a "few" sites before this.

I take it personally when fuck-ups happen, I whipped my mods to do their job perfectly.
