I've never really been the whole "OMG follow me on instagram" kind of teen. More of the "I think everybody around me has a slightly lower intelligence" kind of teen.

 

But I'm pretty sure everybody thinks that today's teens are kind of stupid. Not excluding me.

that's more or less how my teenage years were. i think you're either a "social media/interaction whore who screws around way too much", or a "everything is dark and gritty and everyone around me are stupid jerks" teen.

 

also, teens are stupid, but they are not completely braindead. they're undergoing heavy hormonal changes, which more often than not makes them act impulsively and do stupid shit. this is normal, though, and that doesn't make them stupid, just a bit haphazard. everyone can be a gullible fool.

 

(also don't take my word for it, i'm not the person you'd go for accurate analysis of human behavior, but this seems to ring true to me).

I wasn't either of the two at all when I was young and i'm pretty sure the first one didn't exactly exist back then. Facebook and Myspace were the only real social media areas back then that were actually spammed about and I don't think it was anywhere near as fucking stupid as it is now-a-days.
