Where exactly did this come from, may I ask?

No friggin idea :(

I just found it from my old "forum-wimey" folder, so it might came from a thread about furries and such. It's kind of old, though.

Personally I thought it was damn hilarious, because I know what does it feels like when a rabid fan come to me and say "Oh you must be one of those misinformed jackass! I don't have to pay full attention on your opinion!"

I kinda curious on how this site will react if I posted a brony version one. So what do you think about it?

I don't know, I wouldn't mind one that wasn't quite so umm... horribly demeaning I guess, if you did emulate this. Yes the random man does make a good point about the whiners in the group, but he/she is also just a straight out a@$ and I guess I couldn't support that, even for comedic reasons. Also, he makes the point that he hates the furry/brony on an individual level for the whining, yet clearly states that he views him as stupid for being a part of the group at all, thus assuming all in the group are stupid. In that sense the Whiner Brony/Furry actually has some merit to their argument, and the random person is truly (as was being partly argued) being a blind, only opinionated, close minded person.

Also, I fail to see what is wrong with judging someone on an individual level rather than basing it off the group (which the stranger's argument confuses me, because he fights to say the furry/brony shouldn't be able to be judged separately, then disses the whole group regardless, then disses the furry/brony individually anyway). I am agnostic, I don't really like super right wing Christians who preach about hellfire and brimstone and how gays and lesbians will burn, but just because one of my best friends is Christian as well I don't judge him by the group. I don't hate him because he is in a group that also contains the right wing preachers. He deserves that separate judging, because he is a separate person.

Really the only valid point the stranger has is that the brony/furry has a sort of persecution complex, but if they are actually being persecuted, doesn't that sort of make sense? I mean yes, (we, bronies) they aren't being burned at the stake or anything, or stoned, or put in asylums, but does that make the intolerance ok? Yes we each have the right our own opinion, but we need to strive towards a more loving society rather than a more hateful one. If somebody doesn't stand up to an extent, if somebody doesn't whine (to an extent, too much is annoying) then that won't change. Would woman have the right to vote now if they hadn't complained, would the Indian (central Asian country, not native Americans) people have their own country had they not complained? Yes for bronies/furries it is a smaller battle, but shouldn't it still be fought?

I don't hate the whiners, but I dislike them. All people should pay attention to other's opinions, and then from there work to understand, tolerate, and grow, not fester, lock in, and hate. (or assume others don't understand)

Sorry, I probably rained on the happy train here, being a philosopher/psychologist can do that sometimes.

My, you get quite a good point there.

I don't hate him because he is in a group that also contains the right wing preachers. He deserves that separate judging, because he is a separate person.

I guess the part where just because a person is a part of something doesn't mean he will match all of the major stereotypes just passes through my head.

For my plan, I was thinking about those 'haters' who hate bronies not because the bronies are man-children or something like that, but because the sheer hypocrisy in fandom like this, where everyone to a certain extent was a fanatic.

One of my points I would like to brought up is when someone 'ponified' something.

Let's just say an artist ponified a touhou character. For bronies it does looks good. But ffor the touhou fan it looks hideous, you can't really draw any touhou character without losing many aesthetic value because the simplistic design of G4 ponies. Then bronies brand these touhou fan as haters.

Damn it happens a lot. Not just touhou, but almost everything that is popular. And for each thread about it, the same conflict happens.

It can be hard to remember sometimes, it is easier just to lump people together.

It is a question of mixing cultures (I do call the various internet subgroups cultures), as in real life. People dislike seeing their ideal vision of something "corrupted." They feel they need to fight back or everything they know and love about their fandom (or culture) will be ponified (or whatever, it happens to people who sonic-ify, furry-ify, etc. as well) and lost to them.

I've seen many bronies hate re-imaginings of the mane six and other ponies, so I think it goes both ways. I've also seen fans of many other groups go after bronies. People just hate seeing their vision shattered in any way. They have this base set that is solid and stable for them, then suddenly these "infidels" come in and start changing things. It is just one of those human defense mechanisms to keep our beliefs and lives stable.

For purposes that I shall not disclose, can a few people "randomly" rearrange the following: (they're currently alphabetical.)

Caramel

Cheerilee

Derpy Hooves

Fluttershy

Pinkie Pie

Rainbow Dash

Rarity

There's no such thing as 'dull' when it comes to internet

True that.

But things really get worse when one of the bronies brought up "Love and Tolerate". It's like dousing gasoline and screaming kittens to the fire :o

I agree, I stopped using the phrase long ago after I realized it was not only worn out, but also ineffective and annoying. Also, it assumes I was supposedly not loving and tolerating before I became a brony, which is false (and I believe this is true for most people). The whole love and tolerate mantra thing actually kind of started to creep me out, reminded me too much of a religious chant or something.

I prefer to distance myself from and ignore fandom drama

I watch, but stay out of them generally, it is always interesting from a watcher's perspective to see the logic (or anti-logic) some people use.

Hey, in a sense this brony thing is already a cult thing, right?

Mindless follower, fanaticism, the same phrase chanted over and over, and the attempt to flush out everything that isn't bronies from everything

I still think "Love and Tolerate" is a good mantra to live by, you just can't take it too far like some people do... I made a post somewhere detailing how I felt about it, I just don't remember where it was...

But they can be quite hilarious if you can see those drama from a neutral point of view :P

All the drama does is disappoint me. I'm here in the fandom to have fun, and make some fond memories... The drama just takes away from that. I mean, I can handle it, it's not like it makes me all depressed and go "omg the fandom is crumbling before my eyes," but it takes away from the "experience," I guess you could say. Sounds kinda cheesy, but yeah

Oh, it definitely is a good mantra to live by, I just gave up saying it as if it were a creed everyone in the fandom was meant to uphold.

I can see where you are coming from, but I guess I am just too much of a people watcher to let the chance slide by. I don't like it, but it is interesting (not funny) to watch regardless.

When the bronies fight over simple matters like Derpy's voice, Vinyl's eye color, anthro ponies, and many other things, I was all like

Why do we fight over stuff like that?

And I like the Avatar reference. ;) Sokka was one of the best characters.

That is a really good question.

Although, this is the internet... People argue about everything on the internet

Simple: Because it's very very fun and there's little to no consequences

If the debate was done IRL, others can easily punch you in the teeth if you insulted them

Over the internet? Let me call you a faggot over and over :P

I see. Well, I'm just one to make good jokes when I can, and when I can't, I just post like everyone else (that is, without anything that could be regarded as spam).

Most of my posts always seem to be some kind of joke (usually not that funny, either)

I should probably try not to do that as much
