Corkscrew

 

Corkscrew's immediat reaction was to hug the mare when he saw the tears in her eyes, but held off a second.

 

"It's ok," Corkscrew said with a smile and some tears of his own. "I'm just thankful to have somepony special like you as one if my best friends," Corkscrew says as he hugs his friend. "Come to think of it, it was probably just filly love that I let grow out of control all these years. If I had only had the courage to ask you your feelings a month ago, we could have avoided this whole confrontation. So what do you say we go watch Dashie win that race? Best friend."

 

Fluttershy

 

Fluttershy smiled and hugged Corkscrew back.  Still sniffling slightly, she told him, "I'm... I'm glad that you understand.  You're a really nice stallion and I would never ever want to lose you as a friend."  She released Corkscrew from the hug and looked over towards where Darksun was heading.  "Yes," she said, "let's go watch the race.  We wouldn't want to miss them crossing the finish line!"  After opening her wings, she took off after Darksun.

Applejack

Both the earth pony and the pegasi were neck and neck. Applejack closed her eyes and used her last ounce of strength to try and out run Rainbow Dash. As soon as she passed the finished line and heard the flag wave she stopped in her tracks and couldn't believe it. She had tied with Rainbow. "Well I'll be, it looks we managed to tie for 1st. Wonder who got 2nd then?" The mare said in between breaths.

Fire Star

Fire saw Apple Jack and Rainbow Dash win first place. Fire push harder on himself and he ran and pass the finish line he stop as fast he can all most ran into Rainbow Dash. Fire look he finish in second place" I did it I won in second place I thought I well not win in second place at all wow" Fire was happy how he did.

 

"Great race Rainbow and Apple Jack I know now why they call you the fast pony in ponyville" Fire said in a nice ton. Fire look around all the pony there are happy for all the racers who won. Fire was so happy he start to smile and he saw Twilight " Hi Twilight you saw it I won in second place" Fire was so happy he can contain his assessment.

 

Twilight

Twilight was happy Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack win the race with out cheating at all. She saw Fire won in second place he look happy. Twilight walk to Rainbow, Apple Jack and Fire say good job to them. Before she say anything Fire jumped to Twilight and start to talk to her. " Yes I saw it and I happy for you and you to Rainbow and Apple Jack you did with out cheating at all" Twilight was happy for them.

"Hey, Wait for me!" Corkscrew yelled as he recomposed himself as he began to fly after the group. He finally catches up with them as they find a spot to watch the end of the race.

 

"Come on Rainbow Dash! You can do it!" He yells as the racers cross the finish line.

As Rainbow Dash approached the finish line, She closed her eyes, imaging what it would be like to stand alone at the top of the podium as Ponyville's fastest pony in the air and on ground. In her mini daydream, she didn't notice that Apple Jack was closing fast. 

 

The two cross the finish line at the same time.

 

"Ok everypony! Make way for the winner! I can't wait to add that medal to my collection."

Rainbow Dash was unaware of the tie, but was in for a rude awaking. 

 

"Well, good race AJ!, At least we didn't cheat this time. our names are now clear...now if you'll excuse me, I have a medal to......"

Rainbow looked around at the faces of her friends and knew something was up.

 

Pinkie Pie

"Silly Dashie, You and Apple Jack tied! Isn't that great!"

 

Rainbow Dash's jaw dropped at the news of the tie.

"I can tell by the look on your face your as happy as us because we didn't have to pick a friend to root for!"

 

Rainbow Dash

"We tied?! Again!? at least tell me it was for first this time!"

 

Pinkie Pie

"Don't worry. You two were the first to cross the line. I wonder what Mayor Mare is going to have to do now? I think she may have to have another medal for first place made."

 

Pinkie looked around the finish area and sees Twilight and heads over to talk to her.

 

Rainbow Dash

"I'm sorry that I got so uptight abut the race AJ. Tell you what. I'll let you take the medal. I have enough trophies and medals at my house. It would look good with all your ribbons."

 

Corkscrew

Corkscrew flew over to congratulate Rainbow on finishing the race.

 

"Great job there Rainbow! and congratulations to you too.....Ms........? Excuse me Miss, but I don't believe I've had the chance to meet you in my time here in Ponyville. I'm...." as he extendes a hoof to the mare.

 

 

Rainbow Dash 

"Thanks Corkscrew," as she cuts him off. "Oh AJ, this is my friend Corkscrew. We go all the way back to flight camp. If I remember correctly, he now works for the gur...."

 

Just as those words come out of Rainbow's mouth, the hoof that was extended as a greeting was now smacking Rainbow in the back of the head as Corkscrew DiNozzoed her.

The train pulls into the station and the doors open. A grey earth pony wearing sunglasses and carrying a saddlebag sighs as he steps out. After a long month away at music school, Biscuit was reluctant to be back in ponyville. He thought of the concert he threw for the town with Vinyl as he stumbled back to song alley way. Then, he notices commotion forming around what seems to be a race as he turns the corner. A few of his old friends Fire Star and Corkscrew among other ponies were out of breath and congratulating each other at the finish line. As Biscuit trots over he sees Rainbow Dash, Pinkie, and Applejack with them.

"You two look whipped! What did I miss?" Biscuit says to his friends as he removes his sunglasses. He hoped his old friends would recognize him.

It's a small place but I sure you and your equipment well fit in my place" Fire said in a happy tone.

"Fillies and Gentlecolts, I would like to once again thank all of you once again for coming to attend this race and thank the participants of the race as well." The mayor cheerfully said as eyes were on her. A stallion soon came up to the mayor and whispered something inaudible to her.

 

"Well, it appears that we have a tie for first place! Applejack and Rainbow Dash have both crossed the finish line at the same time. Therefore, both will be awarded blue ribbons for their status in the race!" She said handing out the ribbons to each pony.

"I have to admit, you didn't do too bad considering you only trained for one day." He said walking up to Storm Cloud.

Fire look at Biscuit and said" Oh you were in Music School you were in ponyville only 3 days" he was a little comfused. Biscuit blushed at the purple unicorns kind gesture. "Wow, for a princess you are one kind pony, miss Twilight." Biscuit bowed and removed his hat, something he rarely does.

Darksun and the others went home after the race Rarity went along with Darksun and when they got home they had some tea to drink while they relaxed and darksun waited for corkscrew to return home. The pets were playing with the ball of yarn as usual and everything was calm.

" I offered right that means it's ok with me" Fire said with a smile. Than Fire heard the mayor give her speech " Oh I think I need to go to all the other racers are at I be back soon I need to got my ribbon" He said in a happy tone. After he got the ribbon he went back to Twilight and Biscuit. "Look my second place ribbon Twilight and Biscuit my first Ribbon I got" Fire was so happy he give a hug to Twilight couldn't control his excitement.

Rainbow Dash walks up behind Storm Cloud ease dropping in somewhat. 

 

"Wow! Pretty good for only a day of training, but I can tell your more of a flyer than a runner."

Rainbow Dash looks him over.

 

"Tell you what rookie, In a few weeks, the annual pegasi relay is coming up in Cloudsdale. I'm tired to always coming in 3rd place because of having an inferior team, but this year, I have a plan. I've seen your work, and your pretty fast up there. Between you, me and Corkscrew over there,I think he can take first, if not even set a new record."

 

Corkscrew

Corkscrew had heard his name mentioned, and flew over to check it out. 

 

"Hey DogBoots, How's it been?"

 

Great race there.....I didn't catch your name. Did we meet before? as he extends a hoof to Storm Cloud.

"Now what is this I heard my name mentioned for there Rainbow?"

 

Rainbow Dash
"Well Corkscrew, I'm looking for a new team for the anual relay in Cloudsdale, and I figured that you would want in. Just like old times in flight camp."

 

Corkscrew

"I figured the fastest flyer in Equestria would have won. What happened all those years?

 

Rainbow Dash

Rainbow Dash looks around and sees a gray cross-eyed mare.

 

"She......She.....happened. Every year I try to form a team and Derpy always ends up on mine. This year is going to be different. Between the two of you, I'll...We'll have this in the bag."

Twilight was surprised of Fire giving her a hug that was the first hug she got from him. " Ok Fire thanks for the hug but you can let go now" Twilight said to him.

Biscuit giggled at Fire Star's awkward hug. "Comon Fire Star, let's go to Pinkie's house! Twilight you're coming right?" Biscuit said with a huge grin. He was really happy to be back with some friends.

 

Not after too long, the three ponies got they're things together and headed down the street.

"Hey Fire Star, really just want to thank you, buddy, for letting me stay with you." Biscuit said as he nudged his orange flanked friend. Fire Star returned the playful gesture as the ponies giggled and trotted to Pinkie's house.

Twilight

Twilight look at the two ponies talking to each other having a good time before they got to Pinkie's house. Twilight saw Fire was so happy to have Biscuit living with him. Fire need to have a friend like Biscuit to make he happy and knowing Biscuit well be a good friend for him. Twilight look at Fire and thought to herself " Fire is like having a littler brother I need to looking after and this is how my brother thought to" Twilight start to got happy of the thought of her big Brother.

 

Twilight walk with them all the way to Pinkie Pie house.

Pinkie Pie was on her way home from the race when she saw Twilight, FireStar and Biscuit heading towards Sugar Cube Corner. Pinkie catches up with them as they approach the door. She sneaks up on the group unnoticed and waits for them to knock on her door.

The three o clock train pulls up to the station, ponies get on and ponies get off but one pony seem to attracting many wary glances from the others around him. His blue mane and tail and dark blue coat weren't what everypony was looking, it was the two paper thin transparent wings on his back buzzing every now and then like a nerous tick. Parcel Shift looked down at the letter Celestia had given him to imediately see Mayor Mare before he settled into his new home. Looking around he didn't k ow where her office would be or even where to start but he was too ervous to ask anypony so he just started walking thinking that he'd find it sooner or later.

The stallion had followed Corkscrew and Fire to the train station though his attention soon shifted to another pony, though this one was very different. It looked like a pegasi, but the wings we're different, they were transparent and buzzed at an incredible rate. The pony was getting many questionable glances. For some reason, Dogboots felt compelled to approach the stallion.

 

"You look a little lost. Do you need help finding something?" He asked in a friendly tone.

Parcel blink taking in what the stallion had said surprised he look up at the tall earth pony and took a step back vibrating his wing again.

"Oh, well.... yes. I'm actually looking for the Mayor. You see Princess Celestia told me to come here and... uh... give her this!" 

 

Parcel held up the scroll he had been carrying on his train ride from Canterlot putting on a fake smile and trying to be brave.

The stallion's eyes narrowed when he heard Celestia bought up in the conversation, but soon shrugged it off.

 

"Yeah, I know where it is. I can lead you there if you want me to." He offered to the strange looking pony.

 

"The wings aren't that of a pegasi and he has a letter from Celestia. Hmmm, it's none of my business." He thought to himself

His wings fluttered with excitement and his eyes brightened a real smile replacing the fake one.

This is it! he thought to himself. 

 

He put the scroll back in the satchel on his back and put his head forward slightly offering it to the stallion speaking as though he was rehearsing lines he said. 

 

"Nice to meet you I am Parcel Shift."

"So, what brings you here to Ponyville?" Dogboots asked while leading Parcel to the Mayor's office.

 

There were still some ponies hanging around even after the race had finished. There were even some ponies already taking down the racing banner and such.

Parcel look down at the hoof that Dogboots had shaken wondering why he had done that instead of thumping heads with Parcel. Ponies were weird. He trotted along side Dogboots looking around as he did at all the wonderous thing in the the town.

 

"Well I just came from Canterlot and I asked a few unicorns where I could get the most out of pony culture and they said, 'why don't you go back to Ponyville where you belong, ' so I did."

 

He ended his sentence with a big bright smile showing two pairs of tiny fangs.

"Well, It's quite nice here in Ponyville, we recently just had a race. Which was pretty exciting, though two ponies tied for first. Which doesn't surprise me, because both Rainbow Dash and Applejack are incredibly fast. Anyways, we're here now." The stallion declared as they walked up the steps of city hall.
