Hour 1

He saw the two ponies beung honest with eachother and was taken aback. "They're just as scared and unsure about this as I am." He thought to himself.

 

45 minutes later

Parcels ears pricked up at Nexus' words.

"Oh you think..... ahahahahahahah!" He had to laugh the bat pony knew less about changelings then he was letting on.

Stepping forqard he corrected. "Changelings do not feed on the captured they impersonate the captured ponies and feed off thw love pf their loved ones."

Parcel turned to Nexus with a smug grin before stepping back and letting him finish.

 

1 hour later

Parcel was standing behind the rescue team and was nervous he knew they were going to have to get rid of his breatherin sometime but now this was real.

He winced when the two changelings were knocked out one he didn't recognize but the other he knew from his villiage when he was young. Shea was just little when he met her but he still saw the same face and even though everypony believe that cjangelings were heartless he felt his stop for a minute while Derpy and Cloud Kicker dragged them back into the everyfree. Parcel didn't know that he cpuld do this.

Nexus noticed hesitation in the changeling. No, he would not allow it to ruin this plan.

 

"Listen, I understand that these things are of your kind, but they are working to conquer and destroy everything we hold dear. You need to do this. Plus, all you will be doing is freeing the captives. The eliminations are being handled by-" Nexus heard a hollar at the end of the camp. Looks like somepony was caught. He heard a scuffle and decided to go to plan B. He jumped out of the bush, Soarin right behind him.

 

"We've been spotted! Go loud! Soarin, you cover the changeling while she and the rescue team extract the captives, I'll go assist the strike team."

 

"Understood" Nexus ran off towards the end of the camp. He spotted a fight and that the Doctor had been pinned. The bat pony lept up and sunk his claws into its back, sending electricity coursing through its entire body. It soon slumped to the ground, dead. Helping the Doctor up, the three begin to fight of the remaining 5 changelings. Big Mac, being an apple farmer, can buck kick extremely hard. He had already knocked out two. The Doctor was using what looked like a screwdriver shooting waves of some description, and stunned another one. That left two more. Nexus ran forward, and dived into the first one, rage visible. He got the first one in the throat, killing it near instantly. He lept up, and then ducked to avoid a magic blast from it. It jumped up to tackle the bat pony, and all he did was fall backwards on his back and hold his claws out. Before the changeling could break the dive, he fell chest first into its own impalement. Nexus threw it off, and looked around. 7 changelings incapacitated, 3 changelings killed. After the three tied up the remaining changelings, Nexus decided to cut off all their horns. Second best thing to killing them, he guessed. They rounded them up and began carrying them back. They encountered the Rescue Team further in the Everfree, carrying the captive ponies.

 

"Any problems?" He asked. He didn't notice, but his face and chest were spattered with changeling blood.

 

(Now you can tell what the rescue team did during this. Feel free to add changelings attacking, whatever will make it interesting, so long as nobody dies.)

The two mares and changeling were gasping for air unconcious changeling bodies scattered all around there were 4 of them slightly injured and 2 were solid stone indicating that there was a cockatrice in the area. Derpy rushed up to the incoming group squeeling with delight.

"Eeeee you shouldve seen it first they were like Waaah and we were like Aaaah but then we were like Gggrrr and then we made them fall down."

Cloud Kicker didn't seem as exited, "hey can you help me with these pods their really hard to get open."

Parcel Shift was sitting off a few feet away sitting on the ground sraring blankly into his hooves.

Nexus continued on, but made sure to congratulate the team on their good work. Seems like everypony got out mostly unscathed. Just a few scrapes and cuts, nothing major. Eventually, they made it back into town, but they freed ponies were asked to stick with us, as their doppelgangers were still roaming around and they risked getting captured again.

"Guys, wait a moment before you go. I have not been entirely truthful with you. You see, this is my first time being in charge in a crises. Celestia trusts me to protect her brother and the bearers of the elements of harmony."

Corkscrew looked around to see if anypony else was listing. I will fight to the death if I need to to protect them, and if they chose to fight, I'll be right there with them."

 

Eventually the group makes it back to the library, and they Corkscrew just outside. Nexus has the bound up, knocked out, and hornless changelings laid out in front of the Guard.

 

"Sir, the mission was a success. We rescued the captives and neutralized the enemy forces. 7 were apprehended and 3 were eliminated." Nexus said, still not noticing the changeling blood on him.

 

"This wouldn't of been possible without the bravery of these fine ponies before you." He said, gesturing to the hastily assembled team. Soarin and Cloud Kicker were the only ones in the group besides Nexus that were standing at attention. The rest wore proud or sheepish faces. 

 

"And I suppose we have thanks due to the changeling for the intel and the role it played in freeing the captives." He glanced over to the changeling, letting a small grin form. The grin quickly vanished, though, as he glanced over to the ponies that were held captive. They were miserable, some even scarred, but alive and free.

 

"I request that they stay here in the library until their doppelgangers are dealt with. The risk capture again if they are turned loose."

Parcel had followed the group still in a daze from the previous encounter. He was just bringing himself back to reality when he sensed he was being mentioned and looked up at Nexus immedeately noticing the blood and become filled with a mixture of horror and he had killed his kind which was no big deal to him. No, to him it was probably like putting down an irritating mut.

Parcel couldn't help himself he let out his line to see what the stallion was feeling. He was curious did Nexus feel pride? Relief? Excitement?

Misery. Death. Regret. Hatred. These were the emotions that Nexus felt. Killing those changelings didn't make him feel better. He was almost a walking corpse. He had a mission: Make the changelings pay. Get revenge. That was his drive. He may put on a mask now and again to fool others into believing everything is fine, but inside he felt like he died years ago. He did what he could to avenge those he loved, but beyond that, he just didn't have the drive. He tries every now and again to make friends, but he just doesn't have the drive to do it. He doesn't want to get close to anypony only to lose them again. So while Nexus survives, he doesn't live. He is just a miserable shell of a pony with a happy mask put on.

Fire Star

After Twilight and Pinkie Pie left to her library. Fire was confused he look at Biscuit and said " Ok that was weird why they left" he ask Biscuit knowing he didn't not know the answer. 'Look like no party tonight Biscuit" Fire said in a sad ton.

 

IN 45 Minutes Fire and Biscuit got to Fire home he let Biscuit to the room he well be in. " Biscuit this well be your room I hope you do not mine it" Fire said happy in his voice. Fire look at the fridge and remembered he need it to get some food. He went to Biscuit room and said" Biscuit I forgot to buy some food I be back soon make your self comfortable Biscuit" Fire said and he left. 

 

Twilight

Twilight and Pinkie running hoping to fine Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Apple Jack. And put the Elements of Hamadey on them to stop the changelings invasion. She was running she saw Dogboots he bump into her. He apologized to her bumping into her but he was hurt something hurt he.

 

Fire Star

Fire was walking to the markets place and he saw Twilight and Pinkie running out of the library. Fire decided to follow them. Twilight and Pinkie stop and he hard a voice it sounded like Dogboots he walk a little closer and it was he Dogboots. He was hurt Fire ran to him " Sorry Twilight I saw you running out of the library I decided to see why you were in a hurry' Fire said in a sad ton. " I well take Dogboots to the hospital you can keep on going umm I gust were you were going" Fire said but he did not know were they are going.

 

Twilight said to him to be careful and that said she left with Pinkie pie. Fire was confused " Why did Twilight say that hmm. Any was I need to help Dogboots" He walk to Dogboots. " Dogboots I well use some magic I can  carry you to the hospital OK" looking at he. He use is magic and he put Dogboots on his back and carry him to the hospital.

Taken aback by the mix of emotions he found and then he felt it the gnawing hunger he dredded so much. Tapping into such bad emotions every feeling and memory had drained the last of his strength he had in holding back. "Just one more time one more change" he thought but remembering what had happened the last time he didn't want to rist further internal scaring on both parties. But then another thought occurred to him "what about the others there was more prey plenty to choose from it would be so easy. No!" Parcel imedeately closed off his line he would not feed not let himself go not again not now. He winced noticing the hunger again but keeping his expression even.

Nexus felt something. Something familiar. A feeling he was not a fan of. Being a changeling hunter, Nexus has been in situations where changelings have fed off of him. Comes with the lifestyle. He knew the feeling when a changeling was inside his heart. He smirked when he thought about what it would find. He looked over at it, and it was now showing signs of hunger.

 

"Offer still stands. Judging by the resistance you have shown so far, I am certain you could cut it off before you killed me. As for draining my emotions, well..." He paused for a moment, turning to face it entirely.

 

"After that little peep into my heart, do you really think I would change much?" He deadpanned. He wasn't suicidal, at least, not consciously, but given all that has happened, he approached death more...casually than the average pony. And this changeling was no good to anypony starving. It needed to eat. It needed love to live. Better it be the broken horse with an empty soul than anypony with any quality life.

He looked up expression unchanged but his eyes were twisted in pain and anger.

"you have no idea how hard it is to hold back and i am now about to weaken you to the point of exhaustion just to get a good meal when i feed i loose myself i get reduced to my instincts i become like i used to.....i become an animal. and im not doing it anymore dont worry i can hold it ill be fine."

Parcel Shift turned away shame faced. he had always wanted to be a pony but was never ashamed of being a changeling until today.

A changeling that was ashamed to be a changeling. Out of all the years of travel, Nexus has never seen this before. He felt...bad. Sympathetic. He walked closer to it, concern in his eyes.

 

"Listen, cha-" He took a deep sigh. He wasn't going to get anywhere like this.

 

"Parcel, I can understand your desire to do what is right. I can't imagine what it would be like to wish yourself another species, and I applaud your desire to change. But if you don't feed, you will die. You can't be a pony-or anything-when you're dead. Truth be told, I haven't slept in over 3 days. My house got wrecked and I have been spending the last couple days running around doing errands. I could use some sleep." He looked down, thinking about all that has happened. He has stayed up for longer periods of time, but he needed sleep, and it needed food. This was something that needed to be done. Rather he liked it or not.

 

"It doesn't need to happen here, but it should be done soon, as you are clearly starving yourself on moral grounds. I kill on moral grounds. I don't like it, but it is something that needs to happen from time to time. Besides, when you inevitable need to feed, better that it happens to me than anypony else."

Parcel looked up with tired eyes and nodded. "ok." was all he said he knew Nexus was right he just hated to admit it even if feeding would bring out his inner changeling he would just have to fight it.

'can we do it in the morning im kind of tired" rubbing the back of his head and yawning he blinked sleepily looking around at the rest of the party he noticed the same effect on the others

Fire had carried the wounded earth pony to the hospital. It didn't require immediate medical attention but as Nexus had pointed it out, He needed a Doctor's second opinion. A group of nurse ponies had taken the stallion into surgery and have his wounds properly treated. After a few hours, Dogboots was soon given a room to rest in.

 

The stallion soon took notice of Fire who had entered the room checking in on the stallion.

 

"Well some company is better than no company."

 

"Hey, Fire! I wanted to thank you for getting me to the hospital. I hope I didn't burden you or anything." He said sadly thinking that he had been burdening Fire.

After Dogboots come out of surgery the nurse tell Fire can see him now. Fire walk in to the recovery room were Dogboots was in.

 

" No problem Dogboots I happy to help a friend in need" Fire said in a happy ton. " I have one question to ask you how did you got hurt so bad" Fire asked him wondering he will answer his question.

 

Then he hard some sound out in the waiting rooms he look at Dogboots " I well look out side Dogboots" Fire walk to the door and open it. He put his head out of the door and saw Changelings in the hospital. He closed the door as fast as he can and look at Dogboots " We have a problem I look out there and I saw CHANGELIONG HERE" Fire start to panic. Fire walked around the room for a minute and he remembered something he took a deep breath and look at Dogboots. " I going to use some magic to hide us in they well not see us but we can see them" Fire start to use his magic and a bubble started to surround them. Some changelings  come in the room and saw no one there and they left for now.

 

Using is magic he took him out of the hospital hoping Dogboots well be ok. He look at Dogboots " Can you walk Dogboots we need to find some guards and tell them they are some changelings in the hospital." Fire said to him.

"If by, "walk" you mean, "limp" then yes I can. Still, you are correct. We need to get some help, but there are others in the hospital as well, if we leave them there's a good chance that the changelings will feed off them. To make matters even worse, if they feed on the love of some of the sick and wounded in there. You can bet that they won't be coming back. So, I guess that means I'm going back in." He said limping his way back to the hospital.

 

"Are you crazy? Yes I am. Problem?" He thought to himself.

"I usually get insomnia when I stay up for days on end. Looks like I ain't getting any sleep." Nexus gripped as he removed his fathers armor, setting it heavily down next to his bed, along with his hoof claws. He would take the necessary precautions with a changeling nearby-or shower the blood off-but after today he just didn't care. He had near no energy, but couldn't sleep. He turned to Parcel, a drained expression on his face.

 

"Before you hit the sack...you mind giving me a little...sleep aid?" He asked.

Parcel pointed to the bed in comfusion never seeing one himself before He prodded Iit with a hoof surprised at how soft it was and curious as to what it was for.

"That sounds like a plan to me. Good job and thank you for your bravery. This mission may have saved us all."

 

Corkscrew looked around to see if any other pony was around.

 

"We are going to need a base of operations. If you guys want, I have a fairly large house that we can use. It's close enough to the library to keep an eye, plus I have an extra room you could use, and somepony could use my sofa. If you go straight through my living room, you'll find my den. There are a bunch of boxes that I still have to go through that may be useful. The spare room is on the second floor, second door. Just don't go up to the attic. That's where my friend and actually the pony that helped me stay in Ponyville lives. A few ponies and I turned the attic into an apartment for him."

"That is a bed. Ponies sleep on it. It is made to be comfortable and to make sleep easier." He said matter-of-factly. He was amazed and confused that the changelings were unfamiliar with beds. That queen of theirs needs to die, he decided. He thought back to Corkscrew and his offer of a base of operations. He decided to let the team and ponies sleep there, and meet them there tomorrow. Considering what Parcel was about to do, he needed privacy.

 

"So once I am out, you will be sleeping on the right bed. Ok, feed away." He didn't relish this, but it was something that needed to be done.

Parcel screwed up his face in disbelief and laughed a bit.

"Ponies are weird" then his expression beecame serious and he nodded.

Turning to face Nexus he immediately began to shrink appearing as a small filly smilling and jumping into his arms.

"Oh Nexus I missed you don't ever go away again."

The little filly. The one that Nexus always played with. One of his closer friends from the clan. It stung to see her again, and Nexus knew that this wasn't her, but he decided to indulge himself. Let himself believe for just a little while that everything was fine. He hugged the changeling/filly tightly. He had a few tears welling up. He forgot this feeling.

 

"I missed you too, Meryl. I...I'm sorry. Sorry I couldn't find you. I'm here for you know, though." He had tears streaming out now, maintaining the hug while stroking her/its mane. It has been so long since he felt the love of old, and he missed it terribly. The whole experience left him a hollow killer, so feeling love again was very bittersweet. But he was determined to enjoy it while he could.

Parcel gasped pulling away from Nexus and cutting the line between them taking the last of the batponys energy. The changeling convulsed on the floor fighting against the urge to devour the stallion his eye flickering between his normal green pony eyes and the blue eyes of a changeling.

"No..... I won't ...let it....win."

He shut his eye tight and when he opened them they were the terrible blue and the rest of him changed into his true changeling form. Laughing wickedly he slammed open the door and flew out into the night.

Parcel flew into the hospital joining his brethren now he was just another mindless changeling whose only interest was feeding. His face was now the same as the other and they all could not be told spart from one to another. Now they were all just a huge swarm feeding off the patients and staff inside the hospital.
