Her mind was racing trying to think of what to do, oh if only she knew an invisibility spell but magic wasn't her talent, she could always do her parlor trick but that would only draw attention to them.

Then she saw him glare at a small rock and almost laughed and then she remembered something and made a few faintly glowing words 'can you levitate leaves?'

Her smile was even more malicious now and her form was almost completely back to normal now as she said, "mama Chrissy will be so pleased," and she trotted passed Nexus out of the caves, "come along hybrid, we walk from here."

With a heavy sigh, Nexus followed the changeling out of the cave.

 

"How are you so content with being a slave to a power hungry tyrant? Why is Parcel the only one who sees the greener grass on the other side?" Nexus never questioned it, but he started wondering why Parcel is the only one who was able to break free. Are they really content with a life of service and feeding?

 

"Can we just fly there? I have little patience for games."

Corkscrew looks at the mare with a glare. "I'm sorry, but before yesterday I didn't have this thing on my head." he said in a sarcastic tone. Corkscrew closed his eyes, imagining what the rock would look like flying down the hallway. A fain glow covered the horn as the rock began to levitate, fallowed by the sound of it bouncing further in the castle. It seemed to work as the scouts fallowed the sound.

 

"I think that worked. Now get out of here. I got Nexis into this mess, and by Celestia, I'm going to get him out of it."

 

Corkscrew was thinking to himself. OK if I can levitate a rock and throw it, maybe I can do more with this stupid thing on my head.

"No my wing is still broken I'll have to have Mo fix it, and your flying sucks," her wing was torn almost clean off one tug and the top half of her wing would fall off.

She burst into a laugh at his comment, "I could say the same thing about pony kind, have you ever wondered why you follow youre precious princess."

Her true form showed in the moon light now and it was much different from Parcels, everywhere on him that was blue she was a deep maroon, her hair wings and even her shell like coat had a purple-ish tint to it. Her mane and tail were short and lay flat and her eyes were piercing like knives.

Luminari put a hoof to her face ' not what I ment but that works too' she stood up from behind the pillar frowning 'I'm not leaving, my friend came in here and I'm not leaving without him' she was determined to stay and help as much as she could, she could be of some use.

Corkscrew looked around the room.

"I bet there heading to the ancient thrown room. I bet we can beat them their. If I was a power hungry witch of a changeling, that's where I'd go."

 

Corkscrew started to walk down the hall toward the ancient room. He could hear sounds from up ahead. 

 

"Maybe we should go up there and wait for them..."

Ignoring the jab at his flying skills, Nexus focused on her comment about the Princess.

 

"There is a difference. We aren't mentally linked to Celestia at all times while she barks orders at us. And she doesn't force us to be here. I know plenty of ponies that have found citizenship in the Griffon Empire. Could you-if you desired-up and leave the hive to seek asylum in another country?" Nexus never stopped walking throughout the conversation, and noted this changelings appearance. It was a bit different from the other changelings he has encounter, as this one was visibly female, and had a different mane style. It was the first time he was able to distinguish changeling gender based on appearance alone.

She cursed herself for having the wrong talent for that moment and wished that she had learned more magic when she was young right now her talents were of no use to them but she wasn't going to give up, not yet.

She let out an over exaggerated gasp, "oh my gosh, you are so right here let me just reform right now." Sarcasm was no stranger to her tongue and she excersized it now giving him a look, "tell me, Stallion, why would we ever want to leave. When the whole world hates you you tend to stay close to home. Besides where would we even go zebras are tricky pricks, griffons are brutes, bats are blood thirsty savages, dragons are too wrapped up in their own little worlds and ponies are just walking food supplies. Does that just about cover it?" Her anger usually gor the best of her and now it was simering in the pit of her stomach and she was waiting for it to explode.

'Wow that's kinda spookie' she never really believed in dreams having any deeper meaning but now, in all that had happened she wasn't very sure of anything now. Everything was all upside down and turned inside out and she loved it she had never had so much excitement in her whole life much less one week, it was just a shame that she jad to leave soon. So she decided in that instant she decided she wanted nothing more than to fill up the rest of her time in Ponyville with as much suspence as possible so she answered 'are you kidding I'm not staying behind for anything'

Cypriss stopped in her tracks at first she didn't do anything just stood there and glared at him. Then she snapped into action sending a blast of energy straight to his chest sending him backwards and she jumped on top of him and pinning him to the ground, "look, I don't know what happened to Boon to make him stupid enough to go a wall and join all the friendly ponies in happy fairy land. All I do know is that him leaving wasn't all bad cause at least we got some idiot who's supposed to be our second in command and hey right now that pony loving traitor is getting his mind cleared out of all ideas of leaving as we speak."

Her smile crept across her face again and she let out a laugh, "heh, you've got guts kid I'll give you that."

Nexus had a neutral expression throughout, never letting emotion show.

 

"I've been dealing with changelings for 16 years. Plus bravado is easy when you don't fear pain of death. After all the crap I've been through, death would be a welcome release. And I'm not worried about Parcel, or Boon. He went through a similar thing with Virus. The passion and desire for a better life, a life with actual meaning, isn't something you can just wipe away." Nexus thought for a moment, before getting up and continuing walking.

 

"So, Chrysalis wants me to be second in command to the changeling hive? I guess when you kill a changeling creation that sends a shockwave throughout the entire changeling consensus, then turn into a weird half pony, half changeling freak, you tend to get attention." The hunter deadpanned.

As the two approached the thrown room, Corkscrew's head began to throb. He looked over at the unicorn with a look of worry.

 

"Funny thing is....This is where my dream would end....."

 

He could see the shadows of changeling wings on the wall, something big was happening in that room.

 

"Well, I guess this is it. Should I try diplomacy or just see how many I can kill before I go down? Look, If something happens to me, find someway to let Fluttershy know I care about her."

 

With that, he began to slowly sneak into the thrown room, hoping he would be undiscovered, however a large orange alicorn was hard to miss.

The mare bit her lip, she didnt like violence but there wasn't any reasoning with changelings when they had made up their minds or had they 'maybe we can talk it out?' she shrugged not expecting her suggestion to work.

"What's the matter babe, your mother don't want you out past midnight? Or does she have a problem with your taste in colts?" He said in a teasing tone. Screw it, if he was going to be a slave soon, he was going to have some fun in his last moments of freedom. Plus Cypriss was somewhat attractive. For a changeling. It helps that she actually looks female.

Cypriss flicked her tail angrily, "do not insult me, bat, I am not a babe. And for your information it's not my mother I'm worried about it's my match, and I'm sure the Queen will be waiting for you and her patience runs thin." Brambles and other debry got caught in the wholes of her legs but she didn't seem to notice and trudged on.

"Love you too." He quipped. The hybrid frowned at seeing the forest debris in the holes in her legs.

 

"Doesn't that hurt? Also, why do changelings have those holes there anyway?" That was one thing he never truly understood.They severed no purpose as far as he could see.

 She whipped around then glaring at Nexus, "we are born this way just as you are born with rediculously shaped wings, this isn't exactly a fashion choice it's our bodies," she leaned down to a branch that was poking into one of her holes grabbing it between her teeth and yanking it out tossing it to the side. when she had finished she turned back around to continue walking. What was this stallions problem couldn't he just shut his mussle for 5 minutes.

Right around now she was beginning to feel the fear set in she had no idea what was in that room but she was afraid she was about to find out so she took in a  deep breath and illuminated the words 'I'm ready when you are'

"Ok. Here goes nothing...look, if you want to stay in cover and go for help if something goes wrong, I wouldn't blame you. I can handle myself if something goes wrong. This is just the iceing on the cake with the past few days I've had...getting mulled by a changeling bear, almost dieing, having me emotions devoweted by some type of parasite, getting possessed by an ancient guard caption who is also my ancestor, turning evil, oh ant to top it off, growing this giant horn. What's the worst that can happen? The only thing left on that list is to become a changeling and I highly doubt that's going to happen."

A pare of changeling ears stuck up over the back of the thrown, and had directed themselves towards Corkscrew as his voice slightly got louder as he spoke.

"Oh I know, maybe I can take over the Crystal Empire! That would be a perfect end to my week!....oh buck, she's right behind me, isn't she?"

"Looks like a struck a nerve~" Nexus said in a sing songy tone. He looked over the horizon, and sighed at the sight.

 

"I can see the ruins from here. I'm assuming we aren't walking all the way back to the Badlands." He paused for a moment, continuing to follow behind Cypriss. Then he thought aloud.

 

"I wonder of Chrysalis will change me into a full changeling, or leave me like this. Maybe I'll get lucky and she'll turn me back into a normal bat pony. Then you get to see my sexy wings in their full glory." He spoke in a mock tone.

Walking at a slow, measured pace, Frayed approached the sleepy burg of Ponyville. On his back was a plain brown traveling, cloak, the hood drawn back so that his face could be seen, saddlebags stretched across his back, and an amulet hanging around his neck. He had heard faint rumours about this town, but not much besides. He knew all about it's excellent library for such a small town and hoped for knowledgeable ponies to converse with. If not, he could always use a rest from travels. It had been six months in the land of Equestria and some small part of him pined for home, but he shook it off and walked on. He was an adventuring scholar, not a foal prancing around. Still though, he hoped these folk would be nice. Or, at the very least, nicer than the Manehattan ones.

 

He was starving. He had been low on supplies for quite some time now, but he was out of bits and out of food. Maybe they could use some consultation or some magic of some sort? As a Crystal pony, he was an absolute wellspring of magical energy, but could only utilize it via magical artifacts. Luckily, one such artifact hung around his neck even now. Though perhaps not as skilled as some of the guards back home, he was quite proficient enough to earn a basic keep.

 

He arrived at the edge of the town and gave a sweeping glance, taking in the sights, and after a brief paused walked in, looking for an inn or place in need of work.

"The queen doesn't have that kind of power, I assume that's why she wants you. See, she only takes things if they have something she wants or they did something she doesn't like in this case it's both." She saw the ruins as concentrated going through all the changelings thoughts that weren't her own. She filtered throught them finding all the information she needed an easy task from years of experience. She smiled, "c'mon, they're inside and we don't wanna miss the party espetially since you're the honorary guest."

While Corkscrew was talking Luminari saw a shadow creep up behing him taller than the alicorn the ominous figure was silhouetted Iin tje moonlight it loomed over them both casting a long shadow. Luminari slowly shrank back her eyes growing wide wishing she had gone with Nexus before. When Corkscrew finally noticed her expression she could only slowly nod at his question fear keeping her from using magic.

"Yes, missing my own party would be very unfortunate indeed." He said as he walked into the throne room. He saw Chrysalis looming over both Corkscrew and Luminari. To this end, Nexus face hoofed.

 

"I thought I told you to get Corkscrew out of here. Why did you...never mind." Nexus was not about to waist his breath chewing out these two, and instead turned his attention to the changeling queen.

 

"Evening ma'am, I brought your daughter back, safe and sound. Dinner went swimmingly." His voice dripped with sarcasm.

"And what exactly is that supost to mean? Do I win a prize?" He said in a sarcastic tone. "I think you know why I'm here. I want answers. What in the name of Celestia did you do to me!"

She gave a sharp laugh, "I don't want anything with you I already got what I wanted from you so you can just leave." She waved a hole riden hoof toward the door shooing him away, "you are of no use to me any longer and I refuse to be in the presence of such filthy creatures."

When Nexus arrived her expression changed to that of delight," ah I see you've brought my new plaything, wonderful. Now run along now and go find Mo I'm sure he's dieing to see you."

Cypriss saluted to her queen her face like stone unreadable before she left she gave one final glace at Nexus almost feeling bad for him and then she shook her head getting rid of any simpathy she had for the stallion.
