Have you ever had the feeling that somepony was watching you?

Kismet shivered as the chilly autumn wind blew against her mane. She felt a tingle slip down her spine, though if it was from the cold air she was not sure. Kismet had the overwhelming feeling of being watched, but was too focused to investigate further. It was almost a surreal feeling, as though the pony was not actually there but more of a spirit lingering alongside her as she traveled on.

Kismet tried to brush off the feeling and trotted on. "I need to stay focused on the task at hand," she thought. "I had a feeling about this place and I need to be here. I don't know why, but my special talent has never steered me wrong before..."

She proceeded to gently tug out a wool-knit scarf from her saddle bag. One can not be too prepared for this type of thing, now can she? As she wrapped the warm cloth around her neck she looked into the sky. The dark clouds loomed ominously overhead, ready to burst at any moment. Soon the raging storm would be upon her faster than she had expected.

She trotted faster down the gloomy path.

The wind whipped Sprocket’s orange and red mane, sending her ponytail flying into her face. The sturdy little pony kept her head down as she faced the gusts head on, gritting her teeth and steeling herself. A cold shiver slid down her spine, and she peered up at the sky. Dark tree branches clawed at the evening sky, and the full yellow moon seemed huge and spooky against the cloudy backdrop of sky.

If Sprocket had been the superstitious sort, she would have checked into the last hotel she had seen. But being the stubborn little filly that she was, she trucked on, and now she was entirely alone in the deserted path.

Above her, the clouds were thickening. A distant rumble of thunder echoed gloomily in the sky, and Sprocket swore under her breath. “Buck,” She snapped, “If I don’t get shelter soon, I’m gonna be stuck out here.”

The first few raindrops patted against her freckled nose, and she picked up her pace. This path had to end somewhere. It had to end in shelter.

Shaco didn't care for the approaching storm. Searching for somewhere to stay until the weather cleared up he noticed a wagon trail traveling to somewhere. "This has to lead to a building or a camp." Feeling a few rain drops hitting him in the face, "I better move fast before it really starts to rain on me." Trotting down the trail.

"Hopefully I can find shelter soon. I need to rest for a bit I've been traveling to long for one day."  He thought as he followed the trail.

"Where the buck am I?" A dark grey stallion looks at the dark woods surrounding him. "This will be a stress free hike they said, you should take a break from your job they said. *Sighs* Well, might as well keep walking." As he starts to walk, a strong gust of wind hits knocks his hat off. "Great."

As Phil leans over to pick his fedora off the ground, he feels a few drops of water hitting the back of his neck. "Oh come on," He puts the hat on, "Can you give me a break he-" A flash of lightning cuts him off., and the rain starts to fall a little heavier. "I should probably sta-" Another flash of lightning reveals an old castle, high up on the hill. "How did I miss that  earlier?" Another lighting bolt strikes down, "Looks like I know where I'm spending the night."

As the rain gets heavier, Phil pulls a red licorice stick out of his jacket, sticks it into his mouth, and starts to run up towards the castle.

The faster she ran, the harder the rain fell. What started as a gentle drizzle soon grew to be the beginnings of a horrible storm. She looked up as the lightning crackled overhead.

"How'd I get myself into this?" she thought.

One particularly loud crash of thunder seemed to jolt her out of her coat. Luckily the lightning had revealed a misty figure in the distance; what seemed as a huge castle looming overhead.

"This is just begging for trouble" she mumbled to herself, "but what else's there to do?"

She weaved her way through the trees and ran with only the light from the moon and lightning to guide her. Finally she reached a huge, iron gate sealed shut with an intricate lock on the front; the one thing separating her from safety. She cursed under her breath and began to investigate.

"Why couldn't my special talent be rocket science, or engineering?" she grouched, only half jokingly. The rain soaked through her scarf, which was now just a wet cloth dripping from her neck.

"Awesome."

Shaco trotted faster down the path as the storm got worse.

"Let there be some form of shelter up ahead." he thought.

Shortly after saying that a image of a castle appeared in front of him.

"Well that helps...now i wish for a warm fireplace...please? letting out a little laugh.

He reached the castle to find only a stone wall blocking him from a dry shelter.

"Better look for another way in." walking alone the stone.

Layla sighed as she flew through the night sky, clearly irritated. She would have rathe been back in Canterlot, patrolling the streets and actually doing something worthwhile to protect the ponies of Equestria. But here she was, sent on a wild goose chase of a mission, to investigate some 'noises' that had been coming from one of the few abandoned castles left in Equestria.

Other than the famous Canterlot Castle, there were very few castles that were even still inhabited. There was the Moon Palace in the Everfree Forest, which lay in ruins. It was a similar story for the places of old, abandoned due to the massive upkeep, or because the building began to crumble, or because it was destroyed by a dragon or some other such event.

So when strange happenings were seen and heard around this particular castle, somepony had seen it and felt the need to report it to the Royal Guard. And, as a formality, at least one pony needed to check it out. And, being as Layla was not very high in the ranks, a superior officer had 'volunteered' her for the job. Just great.

As she landed, a bolt of lightning stuck nearby, illuminating the batwinged Pegasus. Her wings were still spread, and her front legs had not yet touched down, so for anypony nearby she likely appeared as a frightening sight.

Layla scanned the nearby area, trying to be sure there wasn't just some prankster hiding about. It could have been a filly or colt messing around, and if somepony didn't check out the premises for themselves they might think there was something sinister afoot when there actually wasn't. But it was too dark to see anypony.

She sighed again, feeling the patter of rain on the exposed parts of her coat, and hearing the *tink* of them on her armor. She had just decided to head into the building and get the investigation over with, when she heard a branch *snap* somewhere off in the forest.

“WHO GOES THERE?” she called out. It was getting cold, and definitely wet, and she was in no mood for funny business. Whoever it was had better have a good explanation for being out in the middle of the night, in the rain, near an abandoned castle.

Sprocket was soaked. Her wet mane and tail was plastered to her freckled coat, and she was absolutely freezing. The trees creaked and groaned around her as thunder rumbled threateningly overhead, and Sprocket hurried her pace. It was nearly pitch black outside, and the overwhelming feeling that someone was watching her was unsettling.

A crack of lightning split the skies, and everything was bleached brightly for several long seconds. Ahead of her, a castle was perched on a jagged cliff top, not far away. The path she had been following blindly led straight to it. Sprocket nearly jumped out of her coat when a clap of thunder shook the earth.

She bolted towards the castle, her hooves striking roughly against the wet pebbles. As the young inventor drew closer, she realized that the castle looked largely deserted, with a big crumbling turret and no lights in any of the windows.

She bucked the creaky front door open with her hind legs and galloped inside, shivering in the sudden, eerie silence of the castle.

"Anypony here?" Sprocket called, trying to sound strident and assertive. "Hello?"

Shaco saw a hole in the stone wall, "Well that's one way in..." Crawling into the hole as he started to stand up on the other side he noticed a backdoor, "Finally somewhere dry." Pushing the door only to find it locked. "I don't think anypony lives here..." Kicking the door down.

As he entered it was completely dark, but it felt like something was watching him.

There's no pony here. Nothing can be watching you. You have done worse. He thought to himself.

Pulling out a candle and a match, as he lighted the candle he noticed he was in a kitchen. "I'll just clear a spot and read or maybe play a game of chess." Trying to find more candles.

"Of course there are bucking timberwolves!" Screams Phil as he's dashing through the woods. "Bucking hay!" Phil ducks as a timberwolf goes sailing over his head. The moment the wolf lands, he lashes out with his back legs, bashing the beast into a tree. "Looks like the bark is worse than the bite." Phil pulls a licorice stick out of his jacket and starts to chew on it.

Aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrooooooooo!

He looks back and sees a bundle of howling wood. "No, nooooo.. " Phil turns around and starts running towards the castle looming overhead. "Buckbuckbuckbuck...." Off in the distance, he hears a chorus of terrible howls, followed by what sounded like the dispersing of a group.

As Phil runs, the sound of rolling logs follows him. Looking to his left, he spots three new timberwolves, on the opposite side there are two, and behind him is the one that he just bucked. "Buckbuckbuckbu-" The running pony spots a proper pathway heading towards the castle. With a burst of speed, he dashes onto the path.

The moment his hoof touches the path, the wolves immidiatley stop and look at the castle in fear. They look back at Phil, then once more at the castle before running in the direction they came from.

Phil turns his head away from the fleeing monsters as he looks in the castle's direction. "They're running from here? That's not a good sign." He says as he walks down the path. After a few more of traveled, he comes across a clearing lead up to a set of opened double doors He glances inside and shouts, "Is there anypony hear?"

Leaf walked down a dim, dark path, an approaching storm was coming, and all he had was a lantern, he needed to get home, but he had walked far to go to his cousin's house for his birthday.

He heard a crash of thunder, he groaned, his house was far, and it took him almost all day to walk there.

(it still fails, I know, and its okay if you kick me out of the roleplay, actually.)

"Well I guess there's no where to go but up" she said as she spread her wings. She absolutely hated flying in the rain, but anything was better than shivering in the cold rain in the middle of a dark forest.

She leaped into the air just as her hoof crunched a twig. A mighty "WHO GOES THERE?" caused her to gasp, almost falling to the ground. Instead she held her tongue and flapped over the gate. Once she landed she looked into the tinted, broken windows. A small flame seemed to flicker in the distance. She cautioned herself and sauntered to the door. She silently poked her head through to investigate.

Suddenly the aroma of baked oats filled the air. Was somepony... baking? She noticed a kitchen up ahead and creeped forward. Surely a pony who was civil enough to bake couldn't do that much harm, could they?

@@Love*Potion,

Shaco could hear the footsteps of something approaching him, "May I help you with something?" Asking the darkness around him. "I'm just here for shelter from this storm." Speaking again. He didn't even look what was approaching him he just continued to bake his oats.

(continuing a little from Imagine)

"Why did i have to choose to go north? Next time i'm not taking shortcuts. With this heavy rain if i dont freeze i am going to get sick for sure!" thought Darkmoon to himself.

He focused for a moment and looked around. The rain was making it heavy for him to see so he decided it was time he used his magic. His eyes swirld with magic as he looks ahead seeing a towering castle and some slight movement around it. Solely by seeing the castle he was in awe, but something else interested him.

He had the strange feeling that this castle ahead was too... strange. It attracted him and scared him both at the same time, he decided that whether there was something going on or not he had to find shelter before the night came. He had heard the howling of Timberwolves while aproaching the area and he wanted someplace safe.

He aproached through the main entrance hoping that he would be greeted by the pony of the house, or in this case castle. He hoped that they would be hospitable and offer him shelter, at least for the night that is.

  • 2 weeks later...

(OOC: For anyone who is still interested in playing I will continue the story. If you don't have time or are just bored with it, PM or leave a post on the OOC thread)

Kismet looked startled. How had this pony noticed her? She had barley made a sound yet he had heard her as if she had announced her presence. She shook her mane and stepped into the light.

"M-my name's Kismet. I'm here sheltering from the storm as well. I mean no harm, I was simply staying for the night. Might I accompany you? This castle is huge and I wouldn't want to be lost in here alone." Kismet smiled and tried to look calm.

Just as the pony was about to answer when they both turned. A noise had shook the earlier silence.

"Is there anypony hear?"

The two ponies looked into each other's eyes for a split second. It was clear neither knew who (or what) had spoken. Kismet began to look around and nervously shuffle her wings.

"It's is a honor to meet you lady Kismet. My name is Shaco of Manehattan at your service." Taking a seat as he waited on his oats to finish.

Darkmoon aproached the castle which had an eery silence. There was a strange aura covering it, something otherworld was there that he could "sense" but seeing it... that was a different matter. He marched towards the entrance.

"Hello? Anyone here please?"
