However, Accent had not seen Beat wander off with the rest of the group. She had managed to find a new smell, one twice as amazing as the other... It seemed to be some exotic veggie kabobs. She took one of the sticks and ate a small broccoli stem off the top. At first, she was expecting a wonderful taste... Instead, she got a sour feel in her mouth, and immediately gagged it out. 

 

"Ew... What in the world was that?", she said, turning to see if Beat was there. "Hey, I recommend you-- Beat?"

"Accent this food looks...Accent ? Where are...Oh." He looked through the door. "Hey, you coming ? The foods out here...what is that ?" He asked, gesturing to the Kabob in her hooves. "Sorry for leaving...I thought you were right behind me...everything okay ?" He asked, noting the rather disgusted look on Accents face.

"Yeah, that'd be nice. And sure. Why would we not be friends?"

He chuckled, thinking that some of his 'friends' from high school, long gone on their own paths, would have giggled at the phrase, 'get to know you.' He, on the other hand, while knowing what they thought it meant, though it only meant telling stories and backgrounds and forming a closer friendship.

"Okay, cool." She replied. She then began to stuff her face with the tofu, feeling hungry after the long flight she had taken to get to the island. She barely paid attention to anypony else, as she was so concerned with devouring her food at that moment, and nothing else.

"Oh, there you are... This veggie kabobs are terrible. They may smell good, but don't even think about trying one of them. Blech!", Accent grimaced, while tossing the kabob into a nearby waste bin, and turning back to Beat. "So, where did you go? Was there other ponies where you went?"

"I was just outside...everpony is eating food out there...I wonder what was with the kabobs. Maybe Lorcan found them in the fridge or something...come on. I bet you actually smelled this food...because it looks delicious." He smiled at her and gestured for her to join him outside.

"Nah, the smell was coming from here... I know it. But, maybe that food out there will settle the good taste buds back in my mouth.", Accent said, trotting over towards the door to Beat, and seeing that everypony was outside. What do you know. She sat down at the table, checking out all the food. "Wow, this is amazing... Look at all this food."

"Okay, cool." She replied. She then began to stuff her face with the tofu, feeling hungry after the long flight she had taken to get to the island. She barely paid attention to anypony else, as she was so concerned with devouring her food at that moment, and nothing else.

 

 

Nightfall chuckled, and looked at his own plate. He hadn't done too much, but he somehow was pretty hungry. He ate, though slower that Windy, and a little more, for lack of a better word, civilized. He didn't want to bother Windy, so he ate in silence along side her.

"Its OK Star. She was a bit harsh at times, but I suppose she meant well...I think." Max shook the thought from his mind and began eating. The hungry growls were soon subdued with food entering his system. And to his amazement, nopony seemed to notice or care. After demolishing the meal set before him, he lay back, hoof resting contently on his belly. In his haste, Max had spilled a little bit of food on his chest and his muzzle was equally dirty. But he had yet to notice. Turning to Star, he had a very content look on his face.

"That was the best meal I have ever had. I'm almost too full for dessert. Almost." He said with a chuckle

Star laughed. "From the look of you...you quite enjoyed it." She said, finishing her own meal...which was quite small.

Beat smiled and sat down next to her, across the table from a striped mare...but he took no notice to her...he could only look at Accent. "It does look delicious. Here." He said, pulling a plate of grilled cheese ('s ?) towards the two of them. He placed one on his plate then moved it towards Accent as if to ask if she wanted one as well.

Accent smiled at Beat, accepting the grilled cheese, and placing one of them on her plate. It honestly smelled divine... She then grabbed a entire bowl of a Casear salad, and grabbing a set of tongs, placing some on her plate. After that, she moved the bowl down towards Beat.

 

"Would you like some?"

A thought occurred to Max at that moment. He put his hoof on his mouth, and what he found was the remains of his meal. Looking down on his hoof, he saw it on his chest as well.

"Thank Celestia I'm not wearing my concierge."

"Forgive the mess, but as you probably know, 3 hours of flight does work up an appetite." He said sheepishly. He grabbed a nearby napkin-or several-and promptly cleaned up his muzzle and body. And just in time. The tarts had arrived, replacing the plate that held their meal.

"And now for my favorite part of the meal." Max said with an ear to ear grin. He made sure to get it in him not on him.

Beat nodded and placed a bit of salad on his plate. He took a few bites before he decided to try to make some conversation with Accent. "So how long have you been playing the drums, Sweetheart ?" He asked, sipping some water.

Star chuckled and sipped some of her water before looking out at the setting sun. "Its so pretty here...I would love to go for a swim...that isn't me falling in."

"I highly recommend it. I took a brief swim when I got here, and let me tell you, its like swimming in the Fountain of Life." He thought back to this afternoon, and remembered the refreshing swim. It even restored some of his lost energy.

"Come to think of it, another swim would be nice." He said, just finishing off his second tart.

Scamps finished quickly, and looked up from her plate. "Stallion, that was an awesome meal. I can't wait for dessert. Sweet Apple Acre Tarts, right Lorcan?" She asked the host. She turned back to Nightfall and smiled widely. "Good thing I'm not full yet."

He grinned as everyone got a tart, and he noticed one of the stallions ripping into his immediately. Nightfall chuckled softly and bit into his, getting lost in the flavor.

Accent looked up from a bite of her grilled cheese to answer Beat's question.

 

"Well... I was about 8. I got detention for being too loud in class. They placed me in the music room, and told me to write over and over, "I will not be loud in class." on the chalkboard. Then I saw a small drumset, and a pair of sticks. Curiousity got the best of me, I went over to it, started hitting it, and suddenly I started to make a good beat, and then BAM. Cutie mark. Then, I just kept going from there.

Star smiled. "I fell in earlier...but it would be nice to go for a swim when I actually feel like going for a swim...you wanna jump in after dinner ?" She asked.

"Well, I must say that you are the best drummer I have heard...and I haven't even heard you play." He grinned at her and took a bight of a grilled cheese. "I started DJing when I first started walking. My dad was a DJ so I often just used his equipment. When I was a little older he got me my own supplies and I started mixing up some music...I was pretty good at it but I got my Cutie Mark after getting home from seeing Vinyl Scratch play some of her music. That was the night my dad gave me this." He smiled and gestured to his vest.

Max didn't even need to think about that question. In his mind, he knew that swimming was really fun. Swimming with Star was even better.

"Why Star specifically?" Now there was a question that Max didn't have an answer to. He guessed, being the only friend he had on the island, who else?

"But this eagerness for some R&R with her goes beyond simple friendship doesn't it?" You wouldn't think one could be floored by their own mind, but Max clearly just had it happen to him. He didn't know what to think. If not friendship, then what?

"Sweet Celestia, do I need to spell it out for you?" Again, he had no response for that. He had a...theory about it, but he considered such a thing something he would never achieve. Having a low opinion of yourself leaves little confidence in the success of such endeavors. But here he was, experiencing feelings he thought himself immune to. A sudden gust of wind, cooling off the warm patio had pulled Max from the depths of his mind, and he saw that he was staring at a plate. He turned to Star, smile plastered on.

"Sure, that sounds like fun." He said pleasantly. He was looking forward to it.

"Feel that? That warmth in your heart? You know what that is?"

Lorcan watched the pony destroy her food. "Quite an appetite you have there Miss." Lorcan said as he smiled a little. He then finished his meal and got up. "Excuse me my esteemed guests. It is getting late and i need my beauty sleep." Lorcans word ringed true.The sky was darkening as the sun set.

"I work at a little shop I own, fixing things like clocks and stuff like that. I've always like that, so, you know what they say... Make money from what you like doing. And I do that."

He chuckled, and leaned back.

Star chuckled at Max...he seemed to be lost in space but she nodded when he agreed. She looked up at Lorcan who was saying something about going to sleep then she looked over at the horizon. There was a small light but nothing more. "Oh darn...we've missed the green flash." She said.

Max saw that the sun was quickly setting, Luna's night taking over. Despite that, it was still quite warm out. A solid 63^oF.

"You still feel like swimming? Or should we just head back up to our rooms?" He leaned back in his chair, letting the meal he just consumed with vigor set in. He would be a little upset if he missed an opportunity for swimming, but today has gone so well, he couldn't be bothered to even show his disappointment.

Ah, Vinyl Scratch... To Accent, she was the entire reason why she had gotten into electronic music. She smiled at that thought, and looked a bit into his vest.

 

"What significance does the best have? Well, other than a present from your father...", she asked, taking a sip of some lime juice she had poured herself.

"Well...admit it, This vest makes me incredibly sexy." He joked, chuckling and eating some of his salad. "In all seriousness...I dunno, it's just...sentimental, It gives me confidence whenever I step out to perform. Plus...I just kinda like it." He said, smiling.
