Say hello to Avocado! I decided to expand a bit when drawing her, with a slight perspective and (as someone suggested for my first pony, Rind) an accessory: reading glasses.

Interesting character design! I like her coloring and her eyes match well with her cutie mark. The one question would be why does she have an ice-cream-cone cutie mark when her name is Avocado? huh.png

 

Never heard of avocado ice cream, I take it. Honestly, there isn't any particular reason. I decided on the mark and the name separately as I was drawing her. Avocado because of the coat color... and the ice cream cone? Probably because I was hungry when I was working on that part. blink.png

Well, that is a cute little pony. Love*Potion seems to have asked the question I was wondering - name is Avocado, Cutie Mark is ice cream? Anyway, the legs could use a little work, but the body looks nice as well as the mane and tail. I don't think the head is at quite the right angle, but at least the eyes don't look derped. At least we can tell it's a pony. tongue.png

It's nice, but it could use a little bit of work! smile.png

 

I'd really suggest on practising your proportions! If you don't know your proportions well, your pony might just end up being G1 more than G4.

 

Another tip I have, would be for the Mane and tail. Do take some more time on perfecting the Tail and mane. We don't want boring 2-3 spike tails/manes, now do we? tongue.png

I'm not able to detail every function on the gradient that is off... For example, the back legs, the head (snout), front legs are off...

Let's try this, try opening a canon pony in one screen, and your pony in another screen. Then, just compare them! You'll notice some of the flaws. :P

Actually, I do just that when I'm drawing; but I take your point. I will endeavor to get closer to canon-pony styling next time around. Thanks for the feedback, btw. I need this sort of thing so I can draw better ponies! laugh.png

awesome did you draw that with pencils or on a computer.

I draw my characters with colored pencils,you should check out my 3rd attempt at drawing my OC Crazy.

It doesn't look like show quality or as good as yours,but i will get better as i draw more.

 

I draw using a Wacom pen-tablet into Autodesk Setchbook - so on a computer img-1369822-1-UNZJLhS.png . I really like this setup mostly because of the Undo buffer; when I make a mistake: Ctrl+Z! derpy_emoticon1.png It's also nice because Sketchbook blends colors very smoothly, which allows me to incrementally redo areas that don't seem quite right.

 

I still have a ways to go... but I think I'm getting better with each drawing. I cannot express how awesome that is.img-1379355-5-xtWXQl1.png

I imagine it can be pretty difficult when using a autodesk sketchbook,I could never draw using a computer.Tried drawing a phoenix icon in paint for one of my evil characters Fire Bird and it turned out not bad,but still not my best

 

Ah yes, but I have a pen-tablet! With this thing I can draw directly into the software, as in with a pen biggrin.png .  Which makes it much, much easier.
