Bugs Bunny vs Discord

I know Discord can do anything....But Bugs did it first. In the early warner cartoons Bugs was pretty much unstoppable. I think it would be an interesting fight. Both can break the laws of physics, the both make wise cracks. it would be a joy

Well Bugs can´t do everything, he just knows what to do at the right time. But Discord CAN do anything and he can be quite intelligent (let´s face it most of the other LoonyToons characters were not too smart) So, Discord.

Bugs is random and stuff, but he isn't some like spirit of disharmony or whatever.

I also find Discord to be hilarious, maybe he just has a humor style I like, but still.

I think Discord could win if he wanted to, but also may end up playing around long enough that Bugs can manipulate him into defeating himself. On the other hand, they may just end up being friends It would be a lot of fun to watch, in any case.

I didn´t really think about that. But Discord can change the world in a different way too. Those are just two parts of them that are too different  to compare. We would have to establish the rules of the world the event would be happening

As much as I loved Bugs Bunny as a kid, Discord is a spirit of Chaos, and can literally do everything he wants, whenever he wants. Bugs just does what he does, he basically never loses a battle with Elmer Fudd and other characters. He doesn't have any special talents besides his smart wits, while Discord has his smarts, and the power to control everything..so...yeah xP

Bugs is quite literally a reality warper with creative control. Jump out of the picture, grab an eraser, no more Discord. Discord is not that impressive. One of the few cartoons that can beat Bugs is Popeye, and that's because he can essentially do the exact same thing, but has more impressive toonforce all around.

Discord is more powerful than Bugs for the exact same reason Discord is more powerful than Pinkie. There's a difference between having apparent omnipotence/omniscience from classic cartoon antics (what both Bugs and Pinkie emulate), and actually having next to close omnipotence/omniscience by being capable of rewriting the laws of nature and the universe with no effort, in-universe. Pinkie and Bugs have cartoon antics because they're toons. That's something that's there to make us, the audience, enjoy. However, in-universe, if you take us out of the equation, Bugs and Pinkie's 'powers', their cartoon antics, don't actually grant them god-level powers, because their mission to make the audience laugh is no longer there giving them whatever powers they need. Meanwhile, Discord is known and feared for his reality-warping powers, in-universe, and fucks up your shit, in-universe, regardless what the audience is or isn't observing.

 

It's all about In-universe VS audience viewing when it comes to cartoon antics with characters that are meant to make the audience laugh. Discord does this too, but he's been portrayed as an antagonist first; his goal wasn't to make the audience giggle (albeit that was an inevitable side effect cause' John De Lancie is a God), his goal was to be an immortal, nearly omnipotent creature of chaos :3

 

But, if you'd like a simpler explanation:

 

In-universe omnipotence > Cartoon antics. A character given god like powers because of the storyline and what they themselves are, is more powerful than a character who has cartoon antic powers that are there mostly to interact with the audience.

 

Discord is a trump card to any being that isn't

A: The Mane Six or another entity or group of entities capable of using the full power of the Elements of Harmony

or

B: Another reality-warping being with omnipotent powers like Discord

The way I see it is if Bugs Bunny really stood a chance against Discord one on one than Pinkie Pie would have been able to do the same thing. In essence, Popeye and Bugs are universal scale reality warpers because of their fourth wall shenanigans. Discord has never even gone beyond small town scale.

We know Canterlot, Cloudsdale and Ponyville were all effected from him; there's zero proof saying he's limited in strength of spreading :3

2. Yes, but said audience interaction still makes them outclass him utterly. You are not getting around this. For comparison, there is the Swedish comic Marvin the Meathead. It features universal level reality warpers(who are as such in universe). Those guys? Still lose to Popeye and Bugs because of the nature of their abilities. Discord is an insignificant flea next to this guy:

Bugs has toonforce. Something that is beyond reality-warping and gives any character the inmediate win.

Bugs as he can do w/e the hell he wants. This "toonforce" as its called is quite ridiculously op,however it is up to the writer/animator to take it to the degree they see fit,this makes characters such as Bugs Bunny,Pinkie,Popeye ect. as broken as the writer wants them to be because the characters are literally only limited by the writers ability to say "screw the rules" and when to say it and not by some set in show/comic/book ect. laws. 

 

Discord may be able to do whatever he wants do to his reality warping within the laws of the show,but he doesn't seem to have "toonforce" so he can't go breaking the 4th wall or the writers can't say "screw the rules" and have him punch a animator in the face after he jumps off-screen,however with Pinkie it wouldn't be that big of a surprise beyond the punching part..

 

So honestly the win goes to Bugs Bunny by default until written/animated otherwise because if i were the writer Bugs Bunny would only lose because i allowed Discord to win and not because Discord could win on his own. 

 

But honestly this whole thing in general is stupid because i can go write/animate a battle of Goku SSJG getting one kit K.O. by a Metapod from pokemon using tackle and it would be no more valid than someone creating the opposite outcome. Why? Because its up the the writer/animators to make the rules at the end of the day and if they want to say "fuck it" and have SSJG Goku K.O.'d by a Metapod then deal with it.
