I tried drawing ponies. (updated)

Oh I'd love to write a fanfic about these guys, as I did try to put a lot of love and care into making them. They've been with me for years, even before MLP:FiM was around, so naturally I had to bring them with me into this fandom.

 

It's a pity I'm a terrible writer though. Every time I tried to write a fanfic for anything it always turned out rubbish, heh. I'd be tickled pinker than Pinkie Pie if someone would want to write about my characters.

 

I do have a DA account (link in my profile), though there's no other pony stuff there besides what's also here. There's mostly a lot of anime stuff I've made (mostly all OC's from various projects I've attempted). Buried in there somewhere is a pic of the OC's who would now become my pony OC's as well.

Figure I'd draw my stallions now. First time actually trying my hoof at male ponies.

 

The figure in the centre is my team's leader, who I have tentatively named "Red October" (though I can barely resist calling him Joseph Stallion, haha). He's a strict disciplinarian and a general sourpuss, but also prone to losing his cool when his minions don't listen (which is never).

 

The fellow on the left is still unnamed. He's based on a Kamikaze pilot (so naturally he's a pegasus). He's a lazy son-of-a-bitch and loves cracking wise and goofing off more than actually working. He's also a fancier of beautiful mares and constantly tries to chat up anypony he finds attractive. He's usually focusing his affection on Baton Bleu, which ends painfully for him.

 

The last guy is the hazmat pony you've all seen before. He's best friends with the pilot pony and they're usually seen together doing some kind of mischief.

I like your stallion OCs too.  But are you sure the pegasus is a Kamikaze pilot?  I really hope his method of attack isn't crashing into enemies so hard he dies in the process.

Hey, at least you can come up with names, I can't even do that, haha. Besides I kinda like the name Swiftfeather, definitely putting it on the shortlist. And yes I can't hep but come up with elaborate stories for each OC, even if I never do anything with them, they gotta have full backgrounds!

 

And originally he never had a moustache, but after making him into a pony, I HAD to do it.

Well, he may not die while doing it, but he certainly does do a lot of crashing, whether he wants to or not. He's not nearly as graceful a flier as he wants everyone to believe. He's so focused on whether people are looking at him fly that he doesn't bother to look where he's going. That, and he tends to hit the apple cider a little hard.

That's actually bang on to the colours I envisioned for her, very nice! Of course, that's not kamikaze pony but rather bomb pony, but in any case I was eager to see what she would look like coloured~

 

I do wish I was better at vectoring ponies. I'm dying to colour these guys, but I can't work out how to vector them so they look 100% show accurate. Must keep practising, I suppose.

 

On another note, I'm wondering if I should keep their clothes or not.

How about:

Fuseloose or Chancy Dud?

 

Fuseloose, it is a play on footloose meaning to be eager to travel, the fuse part is pretty obvious haha so I just imagine it as being the feeling she has around live explosives, she just wants to travel any where but here when the fuse is loose haha

 

Chancy Dud, I like this one because you described her as such an unlucky pony but she is still here and given her line of work she is as lucky as she is unlucky.  And the idea that even when you have an explosive that is a dud sometimes it's not as dead as you think and you need to treat even an explosive dud with respect and a bit of fear.

She looks awesome! Exactly as I had imagined her, and the shade of charcoal for her fur is just right. Nice!

 

Indeed, her tail design is different in the old sketch. She had a fluffy unkempt tail with the tip burned up, but then I decided to change it to the bomb-fuse looking braided tail she has now~

 

Also I'd like to draw moar ponies, but I can't think of anything else to draw. I'm happily accepting suggestions. Got a funny situation? Tell me it and I'll try to draw it. Would you like me to draw your OC? Let me know. Want me to draw canon ponies? Will do.

Turned out to be quite a challenge as well, this is the most complex pose I've had to do for a pony, and there aren't really any references for it, so I had to be creative. Not perfect, but I'm pleased with it.

 

 

 

 

There his is, flying off into the blue, hoping to impress the fillies with his flying prowess, whilst his best bud cheers him on.

 

As an aside, I didn't notice until now how the generic ponies I put on the bottom ended up looking like Lyra and Applebloom.

 

 

 

Also I decided to play around with designing new ponies. My usual OC's are fun to draw but they're also not very MLP-esque, so I wanted to try making some characters that are closer to the show's spirit.

 

Enter these two. I've named them Creamsicle (left) and Strawberry Parfait (right). They have pretty much no backstory yet though, except for the fact they're meant to run an ice cream shop in Ponyville. Creamsicle is the more excitable and airheaded one while Strawberry is the straight-pony.

I think I want to write a fanfic. 

 

I don't know why your drawings inspire me so much... yes I think I'll have a go at writing one anyways, if you don't mind. Based on Creamsicle and Strawberry Parfait? Maybe with your other OCs in the background? I don't want to write about them specifically because I don't know them well enough and I don't want to ruin them.
