Commander_PonyShep 349 May 21, 2013 Share May 21, 2013 On EqD's article on the L.A. premiere, I saw a photo of Twilight and her friends at the prom, with her having the crown. If anything, based on this image and what I saw in the trailer, I have the feeling that Twilight was deliberately replacing her friends with those humanized pale imitations. I mean, just imagine Rainbow, Pinkie, Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rarity actually learning that Twilight is befriending their human counterparts, and actually outright replacing them! When that happens, they could end up jealous of their human-counterparts for taking Twilight away from them. Why the Hell would Twilight replace her friends with those five humans resembling them? What the Hell kind of friend Twilight is supposed to be, leaving them behind in their original world just so that Twilight could replace them with those five humans resembling them? If anything, I feel that it's doing more than turning an awful concept into an actual thing. I think it's giving away a bad message to little-girls: Your friends are easily replaceable, so any time you make new friends, replace your older ones with the new ones, especially if said new friends are pale imitations of the older ones. People are not replaceable! When you try to replace them, you're hurting their feelings and making them end up feeling rejected and inferior. When that happens, you are an irresponsible friend, like Twilight when she apparently abandoned her friends in the pony-world, all while she instead resorts to the humanized versions of the girls, even outright replace them!
~Lawful Jordo~ 2,066 May 21, 2013 Share May 21, 2013 (edited) I still think EqG is an awful idea, but I'm still going to give it a chance. Who says she's going to replace them? We don't even know how the movie/series will handle it. I'm assuming Twilight with keep in constant contact with her friends somehow. I'm more worried about the god awful high school cliches and the fact that Spike is a freaking dog. The writing from a glance just looks lazy. But I digress. But more on topic, it sounds more like your trying to find another reason to hate Equestria Girls. No one ever said Twilight was going to stay in the human world. It seems to me that she's befriended the humanized versions of the Mane 6 to not only help her get the crown back but also get her use to the human world. 3 Eeveelutions: @Vaporeon: N-Harmonia : Ampharos @Flareon: Descant/Bard @Espeon: Locked @Umbreon: Lhee @Leafeon: Firebolt @Glaceon: Mal @Sylveon: Don'tDropThatDedenne

Perhaps, but from the looks of it princess celestia sent her through the portal, hence it's probably some sort of mission. I don't think she's really abandoning anyone. It's probably meant to be a temporary visit, sort of like a business trip. I'm more pissed that their in high school. I always assumed they were in their early twenties. Think about it, they all have jobs and live on their own. It seems to me that she's befriended the humanized versions of the Mane 6 to not only help her get the crown back but also get her use to the human world. Then why didn't Twilight actually bring her friends with her into the human-world? She used to be about relying on her friends, but now, not since The Crystal Empire, is she desperate to deliberately abandon her friends to do everything on her own, even go far as to replace her friends with humanized imitations of them. It's like the way Dragon Ball Z deliberately replaced the entire original cast of the first DB with Vegeta, Gohan, Goten, and Trunks, just because they could go Super Saiyan. Or Bleach, when during the Soul Society arc, Tite Kubo inadvertently replaced Chad, Orihime, and Uryu, with the Soul Reaper captains as Ichigo's allies, such as Renji Abarai, Kenpachi Zaraki, and Toshihiro Hitsugaya! Friends are not replaceable. They're people with thoughts and feelings. You replace them, and you're destroying their feelings! Inanimate objects are replaceable, because they have no sentience. But people are irreplaceable; they might as well be dead and they will still be irreplaceable, because back when they lived, they had thoughts and feelings of their own.

She could've brought her real friends, just to show that they can still be reliable. Instead, she just enters the other world alone and replaces her friends with their human counterparts, as if the originals were automatically declared useless. ~StatesTheOblivious~ 1,795 May 21, 2013 Share May 21, 2013 I literally pray to Celestia, that this does not happen in the movie, and that the following things actually happen: -Highschool-teen-girl-drama-cliches are parodied -Twilight returns to Equestria in the end -she has a friendship-lesson (eeyup, thats's right) -Spike is not portrayed as a pet in the end With that, I would even mind to not forget the movie while waiting for season 4. But something tells me it won't be that easy... 1 "If men define situations as real, they are real in their consequences." - W. I. Thomas & D. S. That is the only hope it has of not sucking. If I have to sit through a movie filled with obnoxious, giggly high school girls who whine about how hard their lives are and who is cute and who isn't, I'll probably ask for my money back and leave halfway through it. 1 A Whovian Administrator of Zelda Wiki who loves Rainbow Dash and all her antics. As for the satire, I hoped for that in FiM, but while I'm sure the writers are clever enough to make it work. Hasbro would never let them fucking do it. Edited May 21, 2013 by Mzukiller I am a Brony. Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,658 May 21, 2013 Share May 21, 2013 Ya know, there is another possibility...Twilight stays with her 'human' friends and that's that. This is not direct canon to the show itself so it doesn't exactly matter. They can find many ways to make this work. Still, I DOUBT that is the ending of the film. She may actually return to Equestria, but again, this is not exactly direct canon. In terms of the message to little girls, I don't think the movie is going to make that message clear if that is in fact the ending. Again though, she probably won't stay there. Perhaps seeing them all happy at the end will make her remember her home and return, but see? It is all speculation and AGAIN, it is not direct canon so I am not too worried about what they choose in this case. Season 4 will still go on as planned regardless. By the way, I actually do not like the EqG thing, but I also am tired of the needless negativity.

But for the sake of argument lets say Hasbro wants to go the way of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and make a series based on the movie. I see one of two things happening; 1. The movie ends with Twilight trapped in the human world and the series revolves around Twilight trying to get back to Equestria while still trying to blend into the human world. 2. Twilight does go back to Equestria and the Equestria Girls show has a human Twilight that is native to the human world. I mean why would there be human versions of the Mane 6, Spike [dog in this case], CMC, Vinyl Scratch, and god knows who else but not a human Twilight? Probably to keep us, the bronies, interested, in the case of Vinyl Scratch and whoever else they have. Still, those are possibilities. I personally do not see them happening, but that is just speculation. Edited May 21, 2013 by Kyoshi
Shiek927 20 May 22, 2013 Share May 22, 2013 What a ridiculous idea - Twilight is replacing her friends? She's not replacing anybody. We don't know, yet, why she went by herself to Earth. Hell, we might not get an adequate explanation for that, but why in the world do you believe she is replacing her friends when this is all just an alternate universe and she will end up going back to Equestria, inevitably? That image you saw is undoubtedly from the end of the movie, during the prom - one final group shot, that Twilight will probably take back with her to remember her adventure by. Why would her friends be angry at learning that she made friends with their human counterparts? They'd probably compliment that, even in anther world, the Magic of Friendship lives on. Think about it, they all have jobs and live on their own. Rarity is a business owner for Christ sake. I've found it odd that they've chosen a high school setting partly because Lauren Faust, I believe, said they were all young adults, so making them high school students is an odd choice. But that can just be explained as the portal made Twilight younger as well as human.
hawkflame 3,310 May 23, 2013 Share May 23, 2013 Um.. 1) Who says they're being "replaced? Is she staying behind in the human world? When was that plot detail revealed? And... 2) What, you go to a new place and become a social recluse and stop making friends because you don't want to replace the ones you have? Really? Besides, we don't yet know the conditions of the magic mirror. Maybe only she can enter the mirror and the other can't for some reason. I'm sure Twilight would ask to bring them along, but maybe Celestia told her it's only a mission only she can do. mycarhasaMoustache 449 May 23, 2013 Share May 23, 2013 (edited) I think it's giving away a bad message to little-girls: Your friends are easily replaceable, so any time you make new friends, replace your older ones with the new ones, especially if said new friends are pale imitations of the older ones. How do people seem to find so much negativity from a 1 minuet advert. We dont know the reasons that Twilight is going to earth alone mabey the portal only lets powerful unicorns/Alicorns through? Tbh with you no little girl is even going to see it that way because children dont nit pick every single little thing. Why cant people just stop pointing out how rubbish EQG is going to be untill we have actually seen it. You cant know its going to be bad from the 1 minuet trailer and everything you said in your post was based on clips that are less then 5 seconds long. Also she isnt replacing her friends with the humans since she will return to Equestria at the end of the movie and we will probably never hear from the humans ever again! ToxicNinja78 148 May 23, 2013 Share May 23, 2013 I think that we're all missing the point. EQUESTRIA GIRLS IS NOT CANON. Meaning no matter how bad it is, no matter what happens in it, it has absolutely no connection to FiM. It may possibly have some small influence on the show. Maybe we'll see ponified version of some of the characters. But it's not canon, so it really doesn't matter what happens, it won't happen in FiM. Human Twilight can go shave her head and get a fuckton of tattoos and piercings. That doesn't mean we're gonna see pony Twily with no mane, a faceful of metal, and ink. Repeat after me. Equestria Girls is NOT canon. Now, something somewhat on topic, why do we assume Twilight could've just brought her friends along? Perhaps the magic only worked for alicorns, or maybe it was too risky to send multiple ponies, or, maybe, they ARE her actual friends, but they don't remember her because the magic didn't work properly for them or something. It's not even out, wait before you judge. I'm more pissed that their in high school. I always assumed they were in their early twenties. Think about it, they all have jobs and live on their own. Rarity is a business owner for Christ sake. That is exactly what I've been saying. Especially the last part.
