Anyone else here who followed the comic book series and/or the cartoon?

 

I find both versions to be kinda lame during their first arc, but this has it's reasons.

 

The Comic: after the first 6 excellent issues, the original team were booted because the producer didn't want the story to go the same way they did, and a new team had to try to twist the old plot into a new one. This ended up being about as good as it sounds, but the new team got to build their own arc for Nerissa, which was a big step up.

 

Similarly, executive meddling caused problems with the cartoon. The executives doesn't seem to have been to clear on what they wanted- at first they demanded it to be a slice-of-life series with a little magic thrown in, then suddenly they went all "make it magical adventure". Season 2 had none of these issues and a fantastic writing staff.

 

While the comic handled slice of life well, the cartoon didn't really do so during season 1.

 

 

That being said, the first season wasn't all bad, and actually did a few good choices.

Disney Italia's comic department is pretty awesome in general.

I really like w.i.t.c.h, I found the second season much better than the first. But now I'm waiting for a season 3 that will never happen it's kind of depressing. But I can still hope.......

yes...Yes...YES!!! I love this series so so very much! I have read much of the comics, novels, and seen all the Episodes. I loved this series waaaaay before MLP-FIM even came out on the drawing board.

I love how Caleb is always spawned by a villain. In the comic, he is literally a part of Phobos that came to life and loathes him, and in the cartoon... yeah, not gonna spoil.

I actually prefer the cartoon Caleb twist than the comic version. I also love the cartoon Shagon (Did I get his name right?) more than the comic Shagon. It's kind of weird how the relationship between Caleb and Cornelia ended so differently in the cartoon. Oh well I like Matt and Will better as a couple.

I used to LOVE the comics :3 Even though it was considered more as a "girls comic", I just loved reading them   (Well, guess I still like "girls stuff" seeing as I'm a member of a forum dedicated to My Little Pony) My sister used to have all of them until some point when she stopped collecting them   Can't really remember if I ever saw the cartoon, though  Maybe I'll have to check it out sometime

I remember I really liked the cartoon but I cannot remember where I left it at at all xD I think it was after cornelia goes back to the other world, the resistance war had alreay started and all but yea I cannot get a clear image

As a guy who likes MLP, I will unabashedly say that I loved W.I.T.C.H. I followed the comics up to the third issue of the second arc. After that, my local comic book store stopped carrying the series and I couldn't find them anywhere else. I followed the cartoon as well. Loved the series and was always disappointed that there was never a third season.

Just to clarify, we're talking about this right?

 

I didn't know there were comics but I loved the show. Watched most of the final story arc and some of the stuff before that. Dunno how much there actually was though.
