BrainyBrony 252 June 1, 2013 Share June 1, 2013 I finished my signature nice and easily. Then I realised I had to upload it. So I had to go and make myself a deviantART account just so I could use my siggy. So, I think we should be aloud to upload signatures from our files like we can with avatars. Wardaddy 470 June 1, 2013 Share June 1, 2013 I agree totally with this. I have Windows 8, and therefore images I choose to view don't pop up using Windows Photo Viewer anymore, only the newer version (of course I can choose the opposite but straight away like). Whats more, I can't copy and paste from this new photo viewer, and whenever I try viewing the image via Internet Explorer, the image can be copied but when pasted it appears as a small black comp screen. And lately, the images I've been trying to use aren't being allowed. (They are signatures and do conform to the size requirements but the forum won't allow me to use them, unless they are too big). Furthermore, I've been trying to add text below the signature, and it won't allow me on the grounds I can't have more than 5 lines of text or something, which I obviously don't. Could somepony take a look at this? In the meantime I'll deal with what I can control. "Ideals are peaceful.........history is violent" Sgt. Finesthour 7,287 June 1, 2013 Share June 1, 2013 We used to have something like this a while back. I suppose it wasn't used enough, as it was taken away. But it certainly isn't needed at all. Just put your crap on deviantart or imgur. It isn't that hard.
Princess Periwinkle 3,775 June 1, 2013 Share June 1, 2013 I'd recommend imgur.com. No account necessary, super easy uploads, no complaints. Because of that site, I don't really think it's necessary for this feature to be implemented.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 777 June 1, 2013 Share June 1, 2013 (edited) I don't see the need for us having the ability to upload our signatures to MLPforums. It's actually better if you upload your goodies to an offsite provider and link them here, such as Deviant Art. Think of it this way, if for whatever reason you accidentally wipe your signature here and wanted the image you can still go back to your DA account and retrieve it. Your signature image counts as one line, thus if the text you're trying to add is more than one line, you're hitting the limit (You're at 4 right now.) But be honest, do you really need that extra chunk of text? Your signature is big enough already. Personally, I like having that bit of text below my picture, but knowing that the image counts as a line in itself sucks. Let me show you how to do it First you press the Upload Files+ More reply options button Then you press browse and chose your amazing signature. Then you go to the signature page and press my media. Go to attachments and press your image. The image will be shown as [sharedmedia=core:attachments:NUMBERS] in the signature. There ya go c: NOPENOPENOPENOPE This feature is removed ;~; Edited June 2, 2013 by Jokuc
NavelColt 22,881 June 2, 2013 Share June 2, 2013 DeviantART? What? Photobucket, Imgur; the list goes on of online image hosting websites that you use for signatures. To be frank, in all my forum-browsing over the years I've -never- seen the ability to 'upload' signatures. Even if that's something that's implementable these days, I don't know how practical it is considering there's little to no demand for it, and things work just fine as is But, I suppose there's pros for it as well. Anyways, you can actually upload a signature from your computer. Let me show you how to do it One thing to note: Using this method had a bug where you are not restricted to image sizes or any of the other signature limitations that members naturally have. I'm not sure if that's been fixed or not, but if not, please make sure you retain proper signature limitations ^^

Founder Twilight Sparkle ✨ 8,527 June 2, 2013 Founder Share June 2, 2013 I finished my signature nice and easily. Then I realised I had to upload it. So I had to go and make myself a deviantART account just so I could use my siggy. So, I think we should be aloud to upload signatures from our files like we can with avatars. It's a great suggestion, and something that I'd personally love to have, but unfortunately, it's more than a little impractical with IP.Board's current limitations. I'm all for letting users upload a signature image to MLP Forums directly to keep ourselves from becoming overly dependent on third-party sites that owe us nothing, but it's just not feasible right now. With that said, I've added this to our task tracker. I have some major plans for MLP Forums in the future; if/when we're at the point of carrying them out, this feature may become a whole lot more feasible. For now, your best option is probably Imgur. You don't need to create an account to use the service. Or any other site there is c: Anyways, you can actually upload a signature from your computer. Let me show you how to do it Attachments in signatures were disabled a few months ago, because there's no way to enforce the size limit with that. Seriously though, yeah Chaotic Discord just told me that I have a question about those by the way, why aren't they shown up in the post editor as images? Because if you attach a bunch of different images it's hard to know which one is which when you're trying to organize your post. inb4 "press dat "preview post" button." It takes ages. We have IP.Board to blame for that, too. It has no way of telling which attachments are images and which aren't until it actually tries to render the post server-side, so it doesn't bother trying to show attachments as images while you're editing it. GeneralDirection 1,052 June 2, 2013 Share June 2, 2013 Excuse my relative newness to this community. as such my information is limited. I'm not new to forum solutions though. I'm curious as to why we even use IPB period. It's got a long history of being a failure and I can't think of anyone I know that's happy with it. Plus the security holes were/are loads of fun. At the original topic, if you really do need space for your pony stuff, shoot it my way and I'll upload it to my site for you. But there are so many free image uploading sites these days that you should be able to find something. Signature artwork by Magfen.
