Cuppie broke the surface coming up for air and taking in deep breaths and glad to be rid of the flour, she looked over at Dogboots who seemed to be having trouble swimming, "You ok? Here let me help." Putting her side next to his and pushing him toward shallow water and when they were there Cuppie floated on her back flapping her wings lazily in the water moving around a far away expression on her face and a smile on her lips.

The stallion gasped for air, breathing heavily. Dogboots threw his boots and his vest out onto the shore. The only thing he had on was his jumpsuit which was already drenched in salt water.

 

"You could've warned me at least," He said coughing up some salt water.

 

However, the earth pony soon began swimming his way to Cuppie, trying to be as quiet as possible. Dogboots had felt like a shark sneaking up on its prey.

 

"Boo!" He shouted, trying to scare the relaxed Cuppie.

Cuppies smile widened at his words, "well, then it wouldn't have been a surprise."

Sighing in satisfaction letting the water wash away the flour from her coat and mane after all that had happened it was good to just rela- "Aaaaaaaahhh!" After sceaming a sequence of occurences played out. When Dogboots scared her she screamed flailed her hooves before falling into the water, came back up coughing out salt water and looking smiling and laughing, "ok ok we're even, so where are you from anyway?"

"I'm Dogboots and I'm from a small town off of Fillydelphia," He explained to the mare. The stallion tried flicking his mane back so it wouldn't be dripping salt water in his eyes.

 

"What about you? I can tell that you're not from this city, because you don't seem to have an accent that the others have," Dogboots assumed.

"You are correct good sir I hail from Ponyville." She put up her hoof to her forehead in a mock solute. "So I'd love to hear more about yourself but first I'd like to get dry are you staying around here?" She was going to offer to go back to the bakery but seeing as she got a welcome that was less then pleasent and she had no idea where it was she thought better of it.

"Yes I am actually, I was out just taking in the layout of the city before I bumped into you." He explained to Cuppie Cake

 

"Ummm, if you want, we can head back to my place and dry off there," He said turning away and pointing in the direction of where his apartment was. Though it was really just so she couldn't see him blushing at that statement.

"Oh yes please," things were looking up she hadn't been in the city of for over 2 hours and she already had a new friend this was exactly what she had wanted. Walking out of the water and shaking a bit of the water off she held out a hoof indicating for him to lead the way.

"Sure, just give me a minute," He said putting his damp vest on and his soggy boots. The stallion was drenched to the bone in salt water and could also use a shower himself.

 

"Alright, I'm good to go!" He exclaimed leading the way back to his apartment. The earth pony used some of the landmarks around him to determine where his apartment building was. On the way there, ponies began to stare at him and some were even quietly giggling. Which the stallion could understand. He was soaking wet and water was still dripping from his mane.

 

After walking for a few minutes the duo had finally reached the apartment building which wasn't much to look at.

 

"Follow me." He said leading the way up to his apartment building. The elevator was still under repair, so they had to go up a few flights of stairs before reaching his apartment.

 

"You can use the shower first," He offered to Cuppie Cake.

"Oh good this is just down the street from the bakery that's where I'm staying see it's just down the that was," she pointed with a hoof smiling. As they walked up the steps she whispered "I'm sorry" every time a droplet of water fell from herself to the carpet like it was her own fault. When she got to the room she nodded at his words, "Thank you so much," and made her way to the bathroom. "sorry.......sorry....sorry............. oh sorry."

"Don't worry about it," He said remarking about her dripping on the carpet. The apartment didn't matter that much to Dogboots to begin with. So long as he had a place to live and eat. He was content with where he was living.

 

The stallion grabbed a spare uniform and a towel out of one of his saddlebags and headed towards his room, which was really just a bed with a nightstand and a lamp.

 

"I really need to decorate this place...if I had the money," He thought while drying himself off with the towel. His mane felt damp and crusty from the salt water.

Turning away from Curious, Windy raised a hoof. "That would be me who crashed, ma'am. But don't worry your pretty head about it, I've had way worse happen to me before, I'll be fine. Thanks for your worry though." he said, smiling warmly at the mare. "By the way, I'm Windy Runner, and this here is Curious. What's your name?"

"M-Mystic, Mystic Dawn"

'did he just call me pretty? oh my I hope I'm not blushing right now'

"are you sure, it did look like a painful fall"

she knew all about painful falls from her training days when she was just a filly. she sat down on a chair and took in the view of Pondi beach, not a short walk from the apartment block

shutting the door quietly behind her she turned to the shabby bathroom and huffed, how could they let ponies live like this.

Cuppie turned on the shower letting it run for a minute before stepping inside letting the warm water take away her cares she pulled back the curtain of hair that covered half her face with one hoof and let it fall back behind her head and sighed. This was relief.

Dogboots heard the shower turn on and already assumed that Cuppie had already started. The stallion soon prepared a pot of coffee for himself and his guest. While waiting for Cuppie to finish her shower, Dogboots had taken out one of his books which was sitting next to his scrapbook and began reading just to kill some time.

Cuppie soon finished and stepped out of the shower keeping the water running for Dogboots and inspected herself in the mirror frowned and let her hair flop back in front of her face before peering out of the bathroom, "Um... Dogboots? wheres all the towels?" she stood there shivering and dripping wet.

"Hang on!" He shouted from the other room. He quickly grabbed another towel from his saddlebag and headed to the bathroom. The stallion soon saw a damp, shivering Cuppie Cake peering out the bathroom door.

 

"H-Here you go." He stuttered, glancing away from the bathroom door. Dogboots felt a little awkward due to because he wasn't used to having other ponies over at his place so soon.

"T-t-t-thank you," teeth chattering she didn't seem to notice Dogboots' awkwardness. She took the towel and dries herself off then stepping out of the bathroom completely and flopping the towel on top of her head she smiled gratefully at Dogboots, "thank you, you can go in now."

"Well, its a pleasure to meet you Mystic Dawn. And again, don't worry about me, I'm a soccer player! We get laid out way worse than this on a daily basis!" Turning to take in the view, Windy whistled in amazement. "Wow. It is quite a view we've got here. Curious and I just moved in here, we're roommates in a place a few floors down. How long have you been staying in Sydneigh Mystic?"

"Thanks" Was all the stallion could say as he bought with him his spare uniform and the semi-damp towel he used from before. Dogboots undressed himself and soon hopped into the shower. He had expected it to be cold, but it was still warm which was nice for a change. The stallion would've loved to just relax, but he didn't want to keep Cuppie waiting. He quickly washed himself and his mane which took no longer than a few minutes.

 

Once the earth pony stepped out of the shower he grabbed the towel and began drying himself off. His mane was just as messy as it was from before though it didn't seem to bother him much. He put on his spare jumpsuit and vest and stepped out of the bathroom refreshed.

Curious snapped out of his stupor when Windy whistled. "Huh, oh right. What happened here? Right, Windy is just introducing us to this... Mystic Dawn, was it? Well we don't seem to be in danger at least. But is really making small talk with this mare, did he not notice her mark?"

 

Curious shook his head slightly, somehow it didn't surprise him that detail would slip by Windy. Still, it caused him a bit of worry that she was being so casual about this whole mess. Curious decided he would let Mystic answer Windy's question before interjecting.

Vinyl had been vacationing on Hamilton Island (couldn't think of another name) and spent some time in Townsville with her friends, then, of course, she had to return home. After arriving at the Sydneigh Airport, she took a taxi home, to her apartment by SOC. When she got home, she planned to go into the city that night, then went straight to sleep

As soon as he opened the door she was right there just a few inches from his like she had been standing at the door waiting to ask, "do you think this city has warburos?"

Indeed she had been waiting on Dogboots and for her hair to dry and by the a time he got out it nearly was.

Dogboots was unexpectedly greeted with Cuppie Cakes just standing a few inches from the bathroom door. It almost made the stallion jump back in surprise.

 

"Ummm I-I wouldn't really know. We can try and look for one if you want," He said scratching his mane.

Her expression changed from questioning to excitement instantly, "Oh can we? That would be so much fun!" she bounced up and down something she had seen Auntie Pinkie do from time to time.  

Then Cuppie gasped and sat down blushing with embarrassment, "Sorry."

"Don't be, you're just excited. Besides, I want to see more of the city myself," He said smiling at Cuppie Cake. The stallion didn't really know anypony else in the city and he needed to finish looking around the city.

 

"Heh. She's kind of cute, when she jumps up and down like that,"

 

"Anyways, shall we get going?" He asked the blushing mare.

She nodded meekly standing up looking down at herself to see that everything was in order and heading for the door then turning around, "don't you wanna fix your hair first i can wait we can watch tv while you dry it with a towel." then she looked around, "is there a tv in here?"
