dash360 102 June 19, 2013 Share June 19, 2013 Okay, first off, long story short my parents wanted me gone from the fandom the minute they found out I was in it. They also probably think I'm already out of it due to the lack of conversation between us about it. Well, if you haven't guessed already, I'm not out of the fandom. Far from it. While I've been working on converting friends of mine (albeit unsuccessfully), I've come across a lot of great fandom music. One such piece was "First Flight" by PonyEveningStar: After finding out that this piece has sheet music, I had my mom listen to the song, which she loved and had me print off the sheet music. Here's the thing, though: she doesn't know it's from the Brony fandom. So while she was busy telling me how awesome it is (and rightfully so), I'm just standing there with a smile on my face. She asked for the artist, but I said I'd found it anonymously, and that it's location couldn't be traced. She said it was a "great mystery". I also said it wasn't titled, so it has no possible way to be found. She loves it nonetheless, and I intend to show it to others, revealing it's origin after their reactions. This could be the beginning of something great. So that's my story for the day. Thoughts? Thats awesome lol. i did this to my brothers before they knew i was a brony, too. my older brother likes dubstep and i kept making him listen to some ofthe better music i had found. Believe it or not, I actually considered doing this to my mum even before looking at this thread. I was gonna show her Aloe and Lotus, which is also something from Evening Star. If she can't accept it after this and tries to coerce to leave again, then it's reflection of her own stubbornness of taking away a perfectly harmless hobby that's given bliss to a lot of people. You can subdue stubbornness pretty easily. I really dislike people who think they have authority just because they're parental figures. Newsflash, just because you happen to have given birth to your kid doesn't mean you know everything nor is your judgement crisp and perfectly sound. I was going through the songs on my mp3 player when I went past Discord (The Living Tombstone's remix of course) and the first few notes of it before I skipped it, finding some song he wanted to listen to. Well, when he heard those notes, he said "wait wait, go back, what was that?" because he liked it. I did go back, but before I did, I warned him that "it IS a brony song, BUT it's about one of the villains of the show taking control," because I don't like trolling people like that, because I'm just that morally awesome. And he said he wanted to hear it anyways. So he listened to it, and just like that song does everybody else? That's right: BAM! he was immediately hooked. He now loves that song more than Dark Horses by Switchfoot, which I guess technically makes it his favorite song. Now, I have an idea.... If I use that song to draw him in to other songs he would like, and show him more and more parts of the fandom, sloooowly reeling my non-brony friend into the herd, would that be trolling? If it is, I don't care, I'm doing it anyways, because it's only minimal amounts of troll and it would be nice to be able to talk to him about ponies like we talk about CoD Zombies, Minecraft, and Yu-Gi-Oh. See, this is how you show convert haters, or at least get them to understand the show and give it a chance. Too many bronies try to bring it up to people who clearly refuse to learn about the show, and instead judge them based on their preconceived ideas. This does not usually end well. No, you have to be clever and indirect, employing subterfuge and manipulation, in order to bypass a person's mental barriers. Still, you're far from done yet. Even though this'll show your parents that bronies aren't all bad, it's still unlikely to change their long-held beliefs about the show. If only people could be more open minded and not be so quick to only see the negatives in things that may seem strange or different. You're doing a good job with this, hopefully everything works out. I have a similiar story... *ekhm*Once upon a time, in a magical land of Equestria... okay, okay, in my house, my brother was on our computer, and was listening to the music I put on the desk top. SUDDENLY!
