Cutelestia 189 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 So your dream is to live as a pony in Equestria, right? You want to hug Fluttershy, fly, use magic, hang out with Luna? You will, in the year 2039. Why? http://www.futuretimeline.net/21stcentury/2039.htm#full_immersion_virtual_reality After you will inject nanobots into your brain, you will be able to access a matrix! In virtual reality, you will be able to do anything. It is possible that virtual Equestria will be made. I hope that I made your day better by giving you hope for this rough decade...
Concord 1,982 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 Hello! The idea is interesting, though in-accurate. Technology is moving faster than you think, and a virtual equestria could be possible in merely 10 years. Injecting nanobots into our brain seems a little, dangerous for me... I'm not sure if I would really want this. Overall, you'll have to agree that a "Virtual Equestria", is not a "Real Equestria"... 5 Thank you MatrixChicken for the Signature! Super Derpy 535 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 (edited) Thank you for this. That gives me hope that most likley during my lifetime there will be virtual reality. My life's dream is go to Equestria. I'm serious my #1 dream is to go to Equestria (even if it is just virtual reality). And knowing that it could be possible during my lifetime! That's great. Now to pass the time for 26 years until dreams become reality. Edited June 25, 2013 by Super Derpy 3 Thanks to LittleRawr for the signature! Well, I think that it shoud be called Real Equestria because we can only have virtual versions of things that already exist in our world. I think that 10 years is too optimistic altrough Kurzweil says not 26 but 20 years. In 2023 we will be all obsessed with Mars One. As for the nanobots, they will be safe. Even now there are prototypes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5KLTonB3Pg
Nerdy Luigi 2,065 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 Well, it sounds like it'll likely happen sooner at the present rate of technological advance. I'm still worried about it causing pain and problems. (mostly mental).

You do realize that it's a prediction, right? I mean it's probably a better prediction than most others, but it's still a prediction. Yes, it'll probably be in our lifetime, but I think estimating it down to the exact year is a bit too precise to be correct. I don't really agree with most of the stuff on Future Timeline anyways, since a majority of it is too far into the future to really determine properly. It's simply a more researched imagining of the future, I wouldn't expect to find accurate information past 10-20 years from today. Cutelestia 189 June 25, 2013 Author Share June 25, 2013 And the best thing? There will be other type of Nanobots you will inject into your body. These will keep you young forever. Futurists like Kurzweil say that we will be immortal by 2030. I'm not joking, you can check it for yourself. As for the price, the nanobots you will inject into your brain will probably cost as much as a console or a laptop today.
DITR 180 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 (edited) Are you shitting me, technology like this is actually being made. Yes I'm not always satisfied with my own life, but I don't want to live in a sugar coated lie either. As much fun as it'd be to hang out with ponies, I'd feel like I was running away from my problems instead of eliminating them. As I said before, Kurzweil says early 2030s, some people say mid 2040s. But it's all based on Moores Law and it is not ending as we are approaching the graphene chips and 6th paradigm. Are you shitting me, technology like this is actually being made. Yes I'm not always satisfied with my own life, but I don't want to live in a lie either. Besides, can you imagine how expensive that'd be? How much would a Playstation 4 cost in 1995? 500000$? 18 years later, not much. I think that they will cost as much as consoles today. How could that be possible, as if I was asking this, how are they going to inject us by after we pay for the price? There's a lot of questions we can ask about VR simulation. My opinion about this entire thing about a VR Equestria is that it could be worth the wait after some years and after that, who knows? Maybe Equestria could exist if we have nanobots in our bodies. I wanna die, heaven sounds way better then earth! XD (also, that wouldn't be possible. Because without death the world would soon become overfull. It doesn't sound probable. And remember, there were supposed to be things like this today!) But the Equestria things. As many problems as that could cause, that sounds awesome.

DITR 180 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 I can't believe people are believing this crap. This will never happen to us, ever. This is a fantasy you have as a child, not as a grown up member of society. Get over it
Lume WMj 228 June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 Well, maybe even our current real world will become merely virtual reality in the future, so why not~ I just don't think everyone would have access to this kind of technology (at least not right away) since it would be rather expensive... Other than that, it would also depend on how we, humans, would psychologically react to that. We can't be sure if it will be an entirely pleasant sensation - taking into account the "way back from Equestria to the real world" -, but who knows?! Technology still has a long way to walk, so no need to get much hyped right now~
