Hetalia is a webcomic and anime that's based on the premise of nations being portrayed as humans, with their personalities being standard stereotypes and based on events in their history. For example, France loves wine, romance, and being naked, England knows magic and sees fairies and no one else does so they think he's insane, and Switzerland is a gun-toter since he shoots every nation that tries to cross through his territory, in order to maintain his neutrality during wars.

 

It's mostly non-sequential comedy, but there are some parts that are nice tearjerkers. But the best thing about Hetalia is the fan creations. This video is a symbolic representation of world events during the past century or two, put to music. The top comments help identify which events are being portrayed. This game fic is known for its awesome drama, comedy and horror. The Principality of Wy's prince is a fan of Hetalia, and painted his own fanart. I'll stop now.

It depends on what you prefer. Personally, I prefer reading the webcomics. There's also the matter of dubs or subs. The dub changed a ton of the dialogue, in order to adapt the jokes from Japanese to American stereotypes. They also added accents to everyone. The writers did well, so it's fun to watch, but since it took a long time for the dub to come out, a lot of the fanbase is used to the Japanese version (which is fairly different). Oh, the Japanese version also offers 58+ songs on the side sung by the voice actors.

 

Once you decide one of the three, as for the order, you can probably go random. Chibitalia is in order with the anime though, so I recommend doing the first episodes squentially til the Chibitalia story ends.

What are you talking about? Loads of people on here watch Hetalia. Weird that you haven't met any of us.

Anyhow, yes, I do watch it, and I love it. My only hope is that there would ever be a Wales character but England seems to encompass all of that general are.

I'm fond of Finland, Canada, Prussia, Spain, and Poland.

I guess you could say I do... Really I only started watching it a few minutes ago. It's good, from what I've seen so far. Very different from any of the other anime I watch... The episodes are really short and kinda random, but whoever came up with the idea for this show is a genius. The countries' personalities are so well displayed, especially America. I can't decide my favorite character yet, though... Maybe Italy?
