As DJ and Vinyl walked together out of the chapel with the rest of the crowd, Vinyl smiled slyly. "I never knew you cried at weddings!" she said, grinning.

"What?! I wasn't crying! There was... something in my eye!" he stuttered, making his excuse sound even less likely.

 

"Suuuure... in both eyes?" Vinyl replied.

 

DJ blushed. "You know what? It's hard to believe that Sterling and Evening are actually married now!" DJ was frantically trying to change the subject, much to Vinyl's amusement. She humoured him, and they continued to talk.

As Luna left the chapel, she saw the small blue colt that had been  the ringbearer in the wedding fast asleep on the pillow. There was something about him that was just so... adorable. She picked him gently up with her magic, before taking him in her hooves. "THINE CUTENESS PLEASES ME!" she said loudly without thinking, before realising she was speaking in her "royal voice" again. "Oh... sorry!" she said, a little less loudly. "There is something about you that reminds me... of my night. Anyway, you should not fall asleep yet, young one, as I hear there is still a party to be had!"

Kismet began to smile as her best friend Evening approached. She looked so elegant and graceful in her gown, like the perfect bride. She was positively glowing with happiness, but, Kismet could tell (as she knew her very well) that Evening was getting a bit camera shy. Kismet couldn't help but giggle a bit when Evening finally reached her. When she asked her how she was enjoying the ceremony, Kismet answered wholeheartedly:

 

"Oh yes, very much so! I, I just can't believe you're married, Evening! It seems like just yesterday you had left... But today is for rejoicing your future with Sterling"  Kismet looked over, and noticed that Sterling had glanced this way, "And he's not too bad looking, either, Evening. I just know you two will be so happy together!"

Evening smiled and giggled when she mentioned Sterling's looks "Thanks Kismet" she said cheerily, her comments were so kind and made her feel better after her small amounts of doubt "Speaking of Sterling, would you perhaps like to meet him?" she grinned, it would be so amazingly perfect, her best friend and her husband could meet. Even the thought of it left Evening sparkling, after finding (and remembering) her best friend from childhood and just marrying her lover, it would be such a nice moment for the two to meet.

 

Maybe she could even get her special guest to meet the two aswell. Her presence was beyond special, it is so rare for something like this to happen, especially since she had brought a friend who didn't have anything to do with her 'doings'. She simply couldn't put such an occasion to waste, it would be only nessicery for her to be introduced to Kismet and Sterling. Perhaps even her sister and parents..

Blue Note briskly walked out of the chapel after the ceremony. This was strictly for business; there was no room for heartache. She had to go warm up on the piano and mentally prepare herself for the performance. There would be plenty of ponies watching her play, so she had no option but to do well. She had to give Sterling an unforgettable performance.

Neon followed everypony out of the chapel. Everypony was congratulating Sterling and Evening, she thought about doing the same, but there were already so many ponies there so she decided she would congratulate them a little later.  She saw DJ and Vinyl and giggled a bit at remembering DJ crying, she walked over to them and looked at DJ "Saw you got pretty emotional during the wedding DJ" She winked then laughed a bit.

"WHAT?! Not you too!" DJ exclaimed. "Why does everypony think that? I had gotten something in my eyes!" Standing behind him, Vinyl shrugged at Neon before giggling at DJ's desperate attempt, before trotting over to Neon.

 

"Yeah, he did seem a bit emotional," Vinyl said with a sly smile. "And did you really manage to get something in both eyes, at exactly the same time, DJ?" She giggled again, as her coltfriend was now blushing a deep crimson. "Still, it was a very beautiful wedding," she continued to Neon. "Hard not to get a little emotional!"

"Mh... Fem minutter til... Sol still up..." came from him, after his body had curled up together as if he were having cramps as Luna spoke with her 'Royal Canterlot Voice' at him. Just as he said that, he was awake enough to notice he was being held. By who, he did not know, nor did he seem to care much. His only reaction was to stretch his entire little body, before hanging loosely in her grip, though practically hugging her hoof.

Kismet's eyes widened.

 

"Meet him? Now?" She asked. It was hard to keep her nerves under control, after all this was Evening's new husband we were talking about! Kismet gulped and managed a smile;

 

"Heh, well I guess there's no time better than the present. Alright. Lead the way." Kismet answered. Inside she was very excited to meet the new stallion, but nerves were getting the better of her. 

 

"Keep it together, Kismet." She told herself, "Just play it cool"

 

She felt better, but as they approached the groom, Kismet had a feeling deep inside that Sterling was going to ask her about her cutie mark. The question she had absolutely no answer to.

Sterling looked onward to his bride and her friend. He could see them approaching him through the green grass that clothed itself under the blue sky. He waved happily at them both, excited to finally have the chance to meet one of Evening's friends. He spoke amiably, turning towards Kismet, 

 

"Hey Evie. Is this one of your long time friends? If so, I'm very pleased to meet you! What's your name?"

Luna was somewhat startled by the colt's odd behaviour. She smiled to herself though when she heard his mutterings. "It seems he is nocturnal! No wonder he reminds me of my night!" she thought. As she set him back down on the cushion, she trotted over to DJ, who was still trying to defend himself against the teasings of Vinyl and Neon.

 

DJ turned to greet her. "Oh! Hey Princess! I mean... Hello Princess Luna." he said, quickly correcting himself.

 

Luna smiled. "Do not be so formal, DJ. We do know each other enough to forget formalities. Sterling seems a little busy, so I don't think I'll interrupt him, but I am afraid I must leave now. My sister requires me to join her for a ceremony in Canterlot. I will see you all again soon, I hope!" She opened her wings and flew off towards Canterlot.

 

"Yeah... uh... Bye!" DJ called after her. "Well, she left in a hurry...!"

Heart fluttering, Kismet barely even realized that Sterling had asked her a question.

 

"Kismet" She blurted out. "My name is - Kismet." She blushed and smiled, trying to hide her rosy cheeks. 

 

"Don't be such a ditz" She thought. "He's just Evening's new husband, no reason to be nervous.. It's not like he'll be living with Evening for the rest of their life and if he hates me then I'll have to live with it forever and maybe even never see Evening ever again for the second time and......"

 

Kismet shook her head. Trying to remain composed, she reached out a hoof in offering to shake.

 

"Nice party you got going on here." She said to Sterling, not quite meeting his eyes. She stayed close to Evening for support.

For some reason... Sterling was reminded of his first encounter with Evening when she first spoke. Evening was so nervous... so vulnerable... so innocent... he liked that from Kismet. He found it cute actually, especially after she blurted her named loudly after he asked. Nonetheless, he could tel that Kismet was nervous. He replied calmly,

 

"How long have you two known each other Kismet? You must be really close with her to have come to our wedding. And thanks. I'm simply stunned at all the decorations... I didn't even notice they were here until today! Apparently, it was supposed to be a surprise as far as I can tell! I'm even more surprised at how wonderful all this looks!"

Neon laughed at DJs response. She looked at Vinyl then back at DJ "You got something stuck in both eyes? Huh strange" Neon laughed a bit more. She noticed DJ was blushing then turned to Vinyl after what she said "Yea, it was beautiful...And emotional. Bet DJ wasn't the only stallion crying" Neon smiled at DJ. She was surprised when Princess Luna had suddenly walked over "Hello Princess" Neon said then waved when Princess Luna had to go.

DJ still felt very embarrassed at Vinyl and Neon's teasing. Still, he didn't often cry! He then noticed that everypony was getting ready for the wedding reception. He smiled, realising that the day was far from over!

After being put down again, he slowly begun to wake up... After around ten minutes, he was back on his hooves, leaving the comfortable pillow behind as he went out to what looked like a party.

"So refreshed... Buh... Hungry..." he said, as he with unsteady steps walked around the party in search of something edible.

Applejack returned home in a happier mood than usual. Granny Smith and the rest of the family noticed this, too.

"What'cha smilin' about, Applejack?" Granny asked in a teasing manner.

"Ah, it's nothing," Applejack responded, "Actually, tomorrow, ah was thinking of havin' Red over for dinner!"

"But what's with the dress?" Applebloom asked.

"Well, ah figured since we're havin' company over," she said, "Ah figured ah'd make it into a formal occasion. Normally ah wouldn't do it, but Red's coming over!"

"And what's so special 'bout Red Talon?" Big Mac asked, a bit confused.

"Well, ah," Applejack stuttered, blushing and trying not to let the family in on her 'thing' with Red, "Ah, he's a very good friend of mine. And if he's gonna come over for dinner here, we have to leave a good impression on him."

"Impression for Red," Granny Smith responded, "Well, why would ya need to impress him?"

Applejack was blushing furiously right now.

"Uh, well, ah've known him for years, and he's never had a dinner here at Sweet Apple Acres before!" Applejack replied.

"He did in 7th grade..." Applebloom responds.

"Well, we still wanna look good for him, right?" Applejack then responded.

Maybe Applejack is the mare that's right for you... have you ever even given her a chance? Or do you just look at her and see a friend?"

"Well," Red Talon responds to the cyan mare, "I've been friends with her since Celestia knows when. And I don't want to ruin this friendship. I... I want to at least try to win back Neon first... I just don't know what my feelings for Applejack are. I don't want to date a mare I might end up not truly loving, only to break her heart by breaking up with her... I never knew that love could be this complicated..."

As for Coeur, Red never forgot about her, but her... instability would make for an awkward relationship.

Applejack felt that Granny Smith and the family picked up on her crush on Red, so as a result, she hoped that Granny Smith, no, Big Mac, would approve of Red. Applejack heard a knock on her bedroom door, and was greeted by Applebloom.

"Hey sis, so why we fancyin' up for the dinner?" she asked in a teasing manner.

"Applebloom," Applejack responded, "Ah told you already! He's a good friend of mine, and ah want to give a good impression!"

"Ooooooh, an impression for what?" She responded.

"Ah, uhh..." Applejack replied. She is a REALLY bad liar.

"Somepony's got a crush on Red Talon," Applebloom said in a teasing voice.

"Ah, NO! Ah... ah like him as a friend," Applejack responds, despite the opposite being true,"Look, Applebloom, just... oh look, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo!"

"REALLY?!" Applebloom shouted, and dashed out the house to meet up with her friends.

While Applejack knew that there wasn't anything realistically wrong with letting the family in on her feelings, she just wasn't comfortable sharing it with everypony.

"Things are going well," Kismet thought. "He's a really nice guy. Just be yourself, Kismet, and it'll be fine." Kismet took notice of Sterling's calm demeanor, and felt  a wave of relief pass through her. He really was a nice, polite stallion, Kismet just needed to be more confident. Meeting new strangers (with a lot riding on her first impression) was never her strong suit...

 

Replying to his question, Kismet said:

 

" Yes, Evening and I have known each other for a long time. In fact, I was her best friend as fillies. We would do everything together and we always had a great time. We were gonna earn our cutie marks together, but then one day her parents decided to move to Canterlot.... and.. Evening was... unable to remember our friendship for a long time. I was beginning to doubt that I would ever see her again... But I'm sure Evening's told you all about her - life - after moving to Canterlot."

Sterling nodded in interest and amusement as Kismet began to feel comfortable around him. It didn't surprise him much that Kismet came to their wedding, especially considering how close they were as friends. Sterling nodded in reply,

 

"Wow... you two must be very close friends... I haven't heard much about her life after moving to Canterlot, but I do know it wasn't great..."

 

By this time, it was approaching dinner time. Everypony gave their heartiest congratulations already to the wedded couple and it was time for dinner! Apparently there was also going to be an amazing talent show featuring the Manehattan Orchestra and many of Manehattan University's students. Sterling, noticing the time then motioned for Evening and Kismet,

 

"Hey! It's almost dinner! We should find ourselves a seat so we can chat some more! How about that Kismet?"

Evening was happy her new husband and best friend were getting along, she knew that Sterling would like Kismet. As Sterling asked about how they knew about each other, she got a little tight and shifted her weight between her hooves, she didn't particularly like talking about her past, most ponies thought it was because she didn't have a good past, but hardly anypony knows the half of it. Not knowing her past was a major rip in Evening's life, it always was.

 

'Dark Alleys. Dark, Dusty Alleyways'

 

The voice rippled through her head, sharply and loudly. She cringed and screwed her eyes shut, she tried to resist putting her hoof to her head, it would only worry ponies and she didn't want anyone to be concerned over something that was nothing.

 

 

'If only she didn't know that it was nothing. If only I could tell her about what is to come, then maybe, just maybe I could save her from her fate.. But it would be horrible to tell her, its just like telling someone how and when exactly that they die, its just treacherous. But even if I do tell her, they'll still be here, haunting her until it happens. Theres nothing I can do to stop it, I'll have to leave soon, but I just can't bear to abandon her in her time of most need, even if she doesn't know it is. Sure, her friends will be there for her, but it might not even make a dent. If only..'

It was now time for the dinner to start, along with the party/reception. Sterling was already seated with Evening and Kismet at a round table underneath one of the large trees decorated with streamers. Sterling excused himself from the two mares and approached the stage. He went up to the microphone in the midst of all the chattering of the excited ponies who attended their reception. Sterling carefully approached the mic, tested it for operation, and then began to speak. Everypony was now silent, along with the cameramen, ready to film Sterling's announcement of dinner.

 

"Hello dear friends! Words cannot express how grateful I am for the fact that you all came to our wedding after party! I know you all are excited to hear me make my wedding speech tonight along with my lovely wife, Evening Glory. But you must all enjoy some dinner first! We have the finest of all Manehattan serving us tonight! Your menus will now be distributed as you all prepare yourselves to enjoy some dinner!! We will then have our speeches and then a special surprise! Enjoy your dinners everypony!"

"Well, normally I'd say in a situation like this, one would be better off dead," Red Talon responds, jokingly. "In all seriousness, though, I could never bear to see Applejack's heart broken. It's a risk I won't take until I know my true feelings for her."

With that being said, Red's watch beeped.

"Oh," he said, looking at the time, "Well, I'm going to have to get to Sterling's wedding reception in a bit. It was nice talking with ya, Rainbow. I still don't know what I should do. I'll just give it time and see what develops, if anything."
