Pony Remix Spotlight - Launch Announcement and Judge Recruitment Thread

As some may know, I recently closed down Brony Music Spotlight for a few reasons.

Today, I am announcing the launch of the evolution of that blog:

Pony Remix Spotlight

Pony Remix Spotlight is intended to be the place where fans of the show's music can go to find amazing remixes of that music created by fans, where creators of great remixes and covers of the show's music can get the respect and recognition they deserve, and where budding remixers can get feedback from experienced musicians on their tracks to help them grow as musicians.

Submissions are now open. You can read the Submission Standards and Instructions to learn how to submit your remixes/covers, and the FAQ should take care of most questions. If not, feel free to ask on that blog post, here in this thread, or PM me.

As an official Pony.fm-affiliated blog, Pony Remix Spotlight serves another purpose involving the upcoming Hall of Fame, Pony.fm's planned artist/music spotlighting feature, which will be powered by an experienced and capable judges panel.

This thread is also an open call for anyone and everyone that may want to be a part of Pony.fm's Hall of Fame judges panel. Because Pony.fm should have the best music critics serving on that panel, Pony Remix Spotlight will create a way to expose those qualified to be on Pony.fm's judges panel in the future.

Requirements:

I'll be looking for judges who meet the following criteria:

  • Knowledge. Judges must be knowledgeable and experienced in music composition and production, or have a capable critical ear for those concepts. A judge must be able to identify and state specifically what is wrong and right with a track in terms of production and composition.
  • Objectivity. Judges must be able to critique music with absolutely zero regard for genre or creator. All submissions of all genres created by all people must be critiqued equally. If you think that a track should be rejected simply because it's dubstep, or accepted simply because it's Sim Gretina, you don't meet these requirements.
  • Diligence. Judges must be able to critique tracks to the best of their abilities in a consistent manner. Judging will be handled on a free-review, on-your-own-time basis here on MLP Forums, allowing judges to make their own time for reviewing tracks. Judges will be expected to take advantage of that to continuously put out critique.
  • Encouragement. Judges must be able to provide critique that helps and encourages musicians to grow in their art.

What happens when I'm a judge/why should I become a PRS judge?

Once you're a judge for Pony Remix Spotlight, and can demonstrate your ability to be a competent panelist, you'll be up for strong consideration to be a Pony.fm judge once the Hall of Fame launches, at Feld0's discretion.

If you're interested in becoming a Pony Remix Spotlight Judge, feel free to post here or PM me with examples of your critique. If you don't have any examples, I recommend hopping over to the Fan Music section of Octavia's Hall and making some.
