What happened to the former Crystal Princess

So we know that Before King Sombra took over the Crystal Empire it used to be ruled by a princess(Most likely an Alicorn). What do you think happened to her? I think that Sombra eated her when she tried to fight back.

Not a topic the show would ever hit in but ny guess would be like with most coups the princess woyld have been killed but if they talk about in the show sombra banished her or something, or even better Sombra and the crystal princess were married and they ruled good till the day she died of natural causes and the crystal ponies didnt respect sombra because he wasn't one and turned him evil

I think she just fled the scene, because she can't possibly die. And I don't think Sombra can eat her, since alicorns are kind of tall and the princess wouldn't be that stupid.

Wait...Holy macaroni. you might be right, Chrysalis and Sombra might be the prince and Princess from the Story. Discord could be the choas and the dragon could be a future villain.

I always thought it was that Sombra was a separate pony than the prince, and when he came to the Crystal Empire to conquer it he was all like "Imma take down the princess" but the idiot prince already had her in a trance so he was all like "LOL, I don't even have to do anything!"

 

Essentially, it was the worst timing ever.

That's a good question. We don't really know how strong Sombra was so he could be stronger than Candace and we know he's stronger than Shining Armor,=. I mean Celestia wasn't able to stop him by herself so he might have just killed/banished the former Princess.

I always thought that maybe Cadence was actually that old and her mother was the ruler of the Crystal Ponies, but after the heart disappears by Sombra and his reign, she fled away. I'm saying she is as old as the empire due to her cutiemark. She's gifted at love, but how can anyone born in Twilight's gen or even a little earlier be related to a whole empire lost by a tyrant? 

 

My head canon: Sombra was either THE King or someone closer.If he was the king, maybe he became evil after something caused him that way, and soon the king couldn't be saved and THUS the tyrant was born. That or maybe he did something TO the Princess and caused it.I honestly could say maybe Chrysalis wasn't born a changeling without love and has to seek it by taking others, maybe she was just born a pony, like Sombra, but turned that way?

I think that the princess fled the Crystal Empire if perhaps Sombra was around the former princess was in her reign then she decided to flee away from the Crystal Empire never to be seen again.

My guess is that whoever it was was probably a distant ancestor of Princess Cadence. As for what happened to her, it's apparent that whatever it was prevented her from stopping Sombra from enslaving the crystal ponies. He may have destroyed her, or banished her somewhere. 

 

I hope that she wasn't destroyed, but King Sombra is evil, so it's possible that's what happened.

Hmmm, I remember Sombra was meant to be a Sauron analogue, so going with the Tolkienian theme, the previous princess was Celestia's and Luna's mother who was struck down in a great battle against Sombra. In turn, Sombra was soon after almost defeated by Celestia before he took the Crystal Empire with him. Cadence is Luna's descent and therefore the Heir.
