Harmony Spark 265 August 1, 2013 Share August 1, 2013 (edited) As we all know, Friendship is Magic was created by Lauren Faust, and many bronies and pegasisters made fanart and fanfics devoted to her work. however, I researched a bit and I wondered that Bonnie Zacherle, the creator of My Little Pony itself, isn't getting that much attention. I know that she didn't create Friendship is Magic but surely, you must give her SOME credit. Because without Zacherle, My Little Pony won't exist and Lauren Faust wouldn't be able to create Friendship is Magic due to the fact that she based this show on the G1 show in the 80s. So, my point is; should we give Bonnie Zacherle more credit or am I looking in the wrong places? Well, honestly we aren't really paying attention to the older generations; they're not what we enjoy and celebrate. We appreciate Lauren Faust's work because she created the show generation that we love. But I digress people should and do appreciate Bonnie Zacherle for creating My Little Pony, but it's not her generations we love. 1 My OC's Viola Soulstrings Solar Ray Miles Check out my FIMFiction account ^^
Crumlicmediabill 2 January 14, 2014 Share January 14, 2014 Bonnie is wonderful and we would not have MLP without her. Big Apple Ponycon 2014 she is a headline guest and we could not be more thrilled! New York Ponies plan to give her the royal treatment, love and respect she is due. Even our FiM teen fans are looking forward to meeting her and having the chance to say hi. Of course Gen 4 is on TV now and makes up the largest segment of our fans here, we still welcome all generations and all will be welcome and treated with the magic of friendship. Our con leadership and crew are committed to making this a friendly event where we can mingle and learn. MLP has made a difference in so many lives and we want to celebrate that magic! Stay tuned to the Big Apple Ponycon website for announcements, videos, fan art and more. Bill

Scootalove 10,689 January 14, 2014 Share January 14, 2014 (edited) To be fair, some of us weren't paying attention to the older generations with the creator of My Little Pony herself who deserves a lot of love and respect. She does deserve the credit for making My Little Pony herself in the early years of it's creation, what we love about her is how she was able to create it as a vision to make it into a global young phenomenon. Crumlicmediabill 2 January 14, 2014 Share January 14, 2014 Where is Big Apple Ponycon going to be, anyway? Big Apple Ponycon 2014 is going to be in the beautiful Landmark Loew's Theater in Jersey City, NJ. It will be on June 6 & 7. The theater is directly across the street from the Jersey City PATH station which for non-NY people - that is a low cost transit train between several NJ towns and Manhattan. The gala that was held there in December gave a small taste of the venue. Check out the website for a video that shows the venue and the fun we had at the gala. bigappleponycon.com
Moonlight 7,288 January 14, 2014 Share January 14, 2014 The main reason she isn't getting much/if any attention is because the generations of MLP she designed isn't the one we all enjoy and obsess over. Much respect to her for being the original creator and all but she wasn't the one who made the great one we know today. 2 matching setups with my bff pathfinder
Fhaolan 4,484 January 14, 2014 Share January 14, 2014 Those of us who are old enough to remember 'My Pretty Pony' do indeed give credit to Bonnie. But we also give credit to G. A. Bloom and John Gibbs who were the writer and the director of the first MLP special back in 1984 that was Lauren's inspiration. Again, without them there wouldn't have been a MLP show to kick off Lauren's ideas.
hawkflame 3,310 January 14, 2014 Share January 14, 2014 I just think that most Bronies don't know about her. Her name isn't in the credits of FiM, and a lot of us don't really care enough about previous generations to look her up. She also hasn't made a whole lot of convention appearances, either. It is a shame, though, She did create this franchise, so she should be recognized for it by the fandom. By the way, she actually was asked about her thoughts on the bronies and I thought she had a great response: http://missapplessoda.tumblr.com/post/54935441225/i-asked-bonnie-zacherle-the-creator-of-the-my Oh, and I love this fan art of her and Lauren: 2 Sig by Thunderstorm Check out my Rarity fansite! Shanks 10,816 January 14, 2014 Share January 14, 2014 Bonnie had more constraints on her than Lauren Faust did but altough G1 had its rough edges was not too bad for what it was and without G1 there would never have been a G4. 1 Rarity Get's Cockroaches
Darker 1,351 August 22, 2014 Share August 22, 2014 It's sad. Bonnie Zacherle is the true Goddess of MLP. Without her, nothing would exist. Everything about MLP was her dream. She's definetely happy that her dream has become such a big thing. If she's happy, I'm happy. 1 Overlord of Darkness Signature made by: Astral Blitzen http://mlpforums.com/user/24786-astral-blitzen/
Wind Chaser 4,768 August 22, 2014 Share August 22, 2014 (edited) Well, if you watched this whole interview you can see why Bonnie Zacherle is not associated all that much with Bronies or G4 in general. Although she deserves much credit for the original idea behind the franchise, much of My Little Pony's current brand identity is the product of Hasbro's much-maligned marketing practices. The franchise today only has one thing in common with Bonnie Zacherle's original creation: the existence of ponies. Lauren Faust gets more credit because her influence was more direct. Most of the characters, settings, and plotlines of the show were the ideas of her and her crew, a crew she assembled from her Cartoon Network co-workers and combined with the animation talents at Studio B. Faust took charge in a way Zacherle didn't, and since people prefer to have a singular face on which to attribute the show's success, Faust was the only candidate. Darker 1,351 September 2, 2014 Share September 2, 2014 (edited) Lauren Faust gets more credit because her influence was more direct. The names, the settings, some of the characters, and some of the themes and morals. Even the type of animation. Lauren Faust practically did nothing. Lauren Faust is known for being a contributor to things, not the actual creator. She can barely create a very well done story, and the very first episodes of the show prove it. FiM doesn't posses the mature and dark atmosphere and morals that G1 had, or the teenageous spirit of G2, or the amazing combination between hand-drawn and flash animation of G3. G4 just has everything from the previous gens redone, but with superior levels of clichés and generism, especially by date standards. Zacherle though, only participating on the first gen, was the first one to say: "The ponies are genderless. Everyone can love them, kids and adults alike." Cwanky 17,602 September 2, 2014 Share September 2, 2014 I must first commend you for raising attention to Bonnie Zacherle. Up until now, fans like myself never even knew who she was. Part of it stems from the fact that fans now, bronies that is, associate and devote their attention solely to the current generation they have come to enjoy and love - FiM. A lot of it, however, also stems from the anathama of the older generations. Unfairly or not, older generations of MLP are regarded as being too stereotypical, poorly done, and just generally outdated and backwards in our modern world. Of course, as much as many, including myself, have viewed the older generations negatively, they also set the standard for what FiM is now today. Faust herself borrowed heavily from many of the older character designs along with themes to create the Mane 6 and show we know today. Also please enjoy this earlier summer update of Bonnie. http://www.equestriadaily.com/2014/07/bonnie-zacherle-original-creator-of-my.html Thank you Bonnie.

Zekromic 1,054 September 2, 2014 Share September 2, 2014 I do't think she's as involved with MLP as she used to be, maybe that's why. Lauren might be one of the big minds of G4, but Bonnie was the one who created the whole franchise, so she deserves soe spotlight
