"Well," Carrick interjected, "Even when I first meet you, you weren't trying to suck us. You always had some type of blood bags on you. Doing something like taking a pony would be cause to worry, regardless." Carrick said. As a waiter came over, "I'd have the soup please." Carrick gave him his menu as the waiter wrote it down. Carrick saw the happy Phoenix and let her be in her own world. Though...from a distance a pony was out there. She seemed to be...looking at us. He wasn't sure why, but he didn't bother to investigate just yet. Depends on the pony's movement.

One of the ponies sitting at the cafe was looking at her rather suspiciously, so Azura decided to walk over. As she approached, she looked at the pony who was aware of her presence and said "I'm Azura, nice to meet you. If I'm not mistaken you guys are looking for the murderer that's been killing innocent ponies on the streets. If that's the case, we have something in common. Mind if I take a seat?" asking him politely.

The detective looked at her. The earth pony took a better look at her. She just seemed a bit off. It wasn't a bad inference to know that Carrick was a detective, but there was something about her.

 

However, Carrick didn't have a major problem with Azura.Carrick nodded towards her, "Anything can help, I'm Detective Carrick If you know anything it will be a help. "

Quickly took his seat with a relieved slump. He ordered a salad and handed the waiter his menu, then turned to look at the new pony. He nearly choked. That pony... That pony has all the signs of a witch. And none of the disgusting tendencies. Then again, I'm friends with a vampire, an ancient, crazy half-god, a demon, a royal alicorn, and a bat-pony. She can't have been a practitioner for much more than a day though. Her aura is not nearly big enough. "Sorry, wrong pipe," he says, with an apologetic smile.

Phee sat down at the table with the group. She ordered a cucumber salad and some lemonade. As soon as the waiter left, a mare trotted up to the group's table and introduced herself as Azura, and stated her common interest in catching the one who was murdering all of the ponies recently.

Phee didn't pay her much attention, only jotting down her name in the notepad, along with some description for her aesthetics.

Azura sat down near Carrick and started explaining to him what happened that night. "I was one of the witnesses, but it was too dark to see anything other than a shadow. When I went out to investigate I saw deep wounds of some sort, something different compared to ordinary sword cuts." she tried to hold back the tears from thinking about the death of her boyfriend, but a tear dripped down her cheek.

Carrick tapped his chin, so she saw the murder? Interesting. This pony might be of some use to me. Carrick place his hoof on her shoulder. "I know this must be hard for you, but I need to ask you some question about what you've witness. We might be able to use what you have to stop whoever is doing this to anymore ponies. Think you can do that?"

Azura didn't know what to say, even before he asked her any questions. She didn't see much, what if he asked how he looked like? "Sure, I'll try my best to answer your questions, Carrick." she said with a worried smile. The looks that the other ponies giving her isn't helping her either, especially the one taking down notes. I <3 You Phoenix Flare!

Carrick looks over to Phoenix, already taking notes down. Turning his head towards Azura. "If you have trouble remember things, just tell me. We can move on to another question then come back to it, so your mind might remember later."  

 

Carrick could tell that she was nervous, it might be hard if he needed to push. Hopefully there won't be any need for it, "Okay. Can you tell me what happened what happened before you witness the murder? Try to remember any detail you can."

"I was in my room waiting for somepony to come back home and that's when I heard somepony crying for help. When I looked out the window the murderer was holding some sort of clawed weapon. It came down on the victim and a puddle of blood started to form around him." Azura couldn't remember much other than that. Feeling useless, she looked at Carrick and waited for his reply.

Carrick tapped his chin, curious about how quick it was. She really doesn't have too much. Gonna have to dig deeper into this. "This somepony you were waiting for, who was he or she?" She was being vague about him. It didn't make any sense why. Was it somepony she liked? If that was the case, why be vague about it?

Azura took a little while before she replied Carrick. "He- He was my loving boyfriend, and he was the one that got killed." It hurts to even speak about it. "Why did he have to kill him?! He was innocent!" Her heart started to ache, as rage and anger filled within her, only wanting to destroy the pony who killed Cardinal.

"I'm sorry for you lost, Azura." Carrick looked down, "Sometimes pony don't care about innocence. They just find somepony and just do it. He's in a better place." Carrick didn't know what else to tell her. He was in his own thoughts, Another victim with the same murder weapon. This isn't an accident, this pony is a serial-killer.

Quickly saw her aura spark. Uncontrolled discharge is common in newer magic practitioners... "Miss, I know this is very hard to deal with. Please try to stay composed," he says, "Are you hungry? Thirsty? We are at a restaurant after all, the least we can do for you is buy you a meal." Loss is something a pony should never have to deal with and will always surface in a ponies life. It's a shame hers should come so soon in her life.

Hypno watched the mare silently. He wanted to finish his conversation with Quickly and Carrick. But he figured talking about vampirism around the new random pony wasn't too good of an idea. He didn't order anything, seeing he didn't really think he could eat anything either.

Azura wasn't all that happy when Carrick said he was in a better place. But she was kind of hungry. "Thanks for asking.. A glass of water and something edible would do." She looked away from them, staring into the skies. Is he really in a better place? Is the afterlife really all that great? I doubt it.

"I know of two afterlives," Quickly says, after he has ordered some food for Azura. "One afterlife is of an Eternal Night, spent in the glory and bounty of Lady Luna's wondrous land. And the other is a warrior's death, sent in eternal servitude to the higher powers, and honor that must be earned. However, I know not what you believe. Many ponies refrain from thinking of such things, so as to forestall death in their minds. I am sure your lover is happy, where ever he is."

Carrick looked at Quickly, "So, Luna has her own land in the afterlife? That's something." Carrick thought aloud. As he finally order a sandwich. "I guess I've always been under the belief of providence. That the princess who control this world are just demi-gods and we have something that we can't see. Providence. An unknown entity that might be real. In the afterlife, I believe that what you wanted to believe in afterlife will come. Even if you don't believe in it, your subconscious has thought of something.  Of course, that's just my own speculation."

"How do you know all of this? Did you learn this from books of some sort?" Azura was wondering if any of this was actually proven that it's true and not just another lie. "The Eternal Night sounds nice. Thanks for comforting me during my tough times. What's your name?"

"I know all this because I have a friend who is a priestess. And Carrick, it isn't Luna's afterlife. It is an afterlife that Luna is attempting to recreate every night. But, that was not your question. My name is Quickly. I apologize, but I'm half dead, and didn't catch your name, miss."

"Nice to meet you Quickly, name's Azura." She was hoping somepony in this group could help her out with this newly acquired powers she has but that could wait. It's not like we're not chasing down a serial killer that could show up any second right now if we're not careful.

"The pleasure is mine. An interesting mark on your hoof," he grins, "May I take a look?" He moves his chair over to her side and sits back. "I will only look if you'll let me, but if you don't I will be curious all the same." Let us hope that she learns to control her magic.

Azura blushed a little bit and placed her hoof on his. "He- Here you go!" she stuttered a little bit. Looking at Quickly once more, she couldn't help it but smile as he inspects the marking on her hoof. "So.. What do you think about the mark?" Is it really that special?

Quickly inspects her hoof with the tips of his unoccupied one. A memory seemed to linger just out of reach, and then a word popped into his head; Natural. "What it means to me is that you were either self-branded or outwardly branded a witch of natural magic, and recently. Less than an hour ago. The name is not very nice, I'm sorry. A more fitting title would be a sorceress, or a magician. Witch was just the term I was taught. A true witch, one I would be required by code to hunt down, does not exist. My suggestion would be to find someone who knows magic and have them teach you what they know about how it works before you start randomly discharging. Unfortunately, I don't practice any magic or I would do it myself. I do know quite a bit about nature though, so feel free to ask about that if you need it." He looks meaningfully at Sapphire, who happens to be the only known magic user of the group so far, other than Azura.

All of this was new to her, and she was somewhat confused. "What do you mean 'randomly discharging'?" she asked Quickly. Azura noticed he was looking at another pony, but she didn't know why. Maybe I could ask Quickly a few questions about nature later on, someplace more private would be nice.
