What happens to a cutie mark if a pony's personality changes?

People can change....either personality wise or with their goals in life. However a pony's cutie mark is a direct representation of their personality, outlook on life, etc., so what happens if they change? The closest we've seen to this is was in magic mystery cure and return of harmony, but in both cases they were directly influenced by some form of magic, not their own choices. So the question remains. Are they able to change? Like in a mid life crisis?  Surely at some point some pony thought "Do I really want to keep doing this?". But I also remembered some of the dialog in call of the cutie:

Scootaloo: "And she's not stuck being stuck up like you two"

Wait, are they stuck with their cutie marks? What if they try to do something else? Does said cutie mark anticipate the change and not show up right away? (much to the confusion of it's disappointed now adult owner?) What do you guys think?

They stay the same.

Pinkie Pie for example, has a different personality when depressed or saddened beyond all reason.

Other than that, it could be possible, but not really.

That would suck if your cutie mark was permanent. You'd have a mark, showing what you used to want, rather than your new dreams.

However, That's a pretty terrible thing to add to a show, so they'd probably have it change depending on your current goals.

On the other hand, it's also beneficial. In real life, most people can't settle down on a talent even when they have reached adult age. A cutie mark at a young age can help and usually concludes that it is your confirmed talent. Your occupation doesn't have to relate to your cutie mark, but it does give a path to follow.

Yeah I think it's vague enough that an adult can switch careers or their job, however, there is a lot we don't know about cutie marks and the writers aren't ways consistent in how they use them.

It could be possible for a cutie mark to change, but I think it's highly unlikely. Most ponies in the show have set goals in mind. Like Rarity and fashion or AJ and farming. It just becomes a main focus in their life's and once they get a cutie marks showing thats what they are good at, they keep at it.

I do believe ponies can have other skills and hobbies, but the cutie mark wont change.

Good question, but...
It also puzzled me before, but then I realized that their cutie marks not necessarily have to be related to their destinies (whatever has been said officially in the series). Rarity's special talent is not related to sewing dresses, yet in the "Magical Mystery Cure" episode Applejack worked on dresses instead of looking for gems after swapping cutie marks.

Those marks only present their special talents. For example if some day you find out that you are very good at drawing that doesn't mean that you become a draftsman by profession, it can only be your hobby. Or a person who has a nice voice or/and knows how to play an instrument well doesn't have to become a musician.

What wonders me more is that how parents give names to their foals, so in the future, it turns out that their names are related to their special talent.

yeah like what if applejack actually hated farming, for instance? or if fluttershy was actually an outgoing person? (although she did tell a dragon to go away). mabye their parents don't give them names until the kid is able to exhibit some traits
