Xievie 498 August 9, 2013 Share August 9, 2013 Having a color in the name is fairly common. Forgivable, but common. Things like "Blaze" are of course gonna be common. Personally, I'm having trouble making an name for my OC. I don't want it to have anything common, but I need to keep it original. "Real life is just a crappy game." Mightymags 1,053 August 9, 2013 Share August 9, 2013 I don't think there's any one name or group of names that's could be called common, I think it's that people stick to a very unoriginal list of words and put these common words together. Like they just pick two words that relate to what their OC does and combine them to make a name. It's usually some sort of noun-adjective combination. It's all words like: flash, blaze, wind, moon, dancer, rose, spirit, night, dust, shine, blood. It's these words that are common, not so much the combinations of them. That's why I did research for mine and found a word in another language that describe what my OC did and used that as her name instead of some generic music-related words. Concord 1,982 August 9, 2013 Share August 9, 2013 Hello! Concord, not on the list! The OC names are pretty common I agree, but, it can be related to actual life, where names repeat themselves all over different people... I hope I'll stay as the only "Concord" 1 Thank you MatrixChicken for the Signature!
Fhaolan 4,483 August 9, 2013 Share August 9, 2013 Of course, it easily swings the other way. Insisting on truly unique OC names that involve foreign languages, obscure words, and antique forms can quickly become 'precious' and/or pretentious if you're not careful. There's nothing more hipster than looking down on other people because they're too common and mainstream.

Feather Gem 967 August 9, 2013 Share August 9, 2013 I'm gonna look at my OC's names... Angel Feather: Ah, geez. My first OC. I would love to change it but I also can't be bothered! Mystical Flow: Actually, my earlier than first OC. I made her before I joined this website or begun roleplaying but never designed her personality. I like her name though and it seems original enough. Chamois Vine: Must I even say anything xD Dawn Minuet: Okay, okay. Dawn isn't too original. xD Sunset: Quite common. I think I want to change it to Spirit. I may even change her design but keep her personality. I used to be a stranger 7,993 August 9, 2013 Share August 9, 2013 The closest thing I have to an OC was when I ponified the Saturn V moon rocket. Simply named, "Saturn". Did some looking around, and it turns out that I couldn't find any previously titled like that. I don't know about names, but a common thing I see is OCs having far too saturated colour, or far too much black.
