While I think people put way too much stock in the classic feel I knew Sonic: Lost World would be the best yet. The one thing that interests me most is the whole idea of having a 360 degree world that is both massive and intricate. There is a lot of potential greatness in this concept. I can't wait!

 

How about you? I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks Sonic has only improved in the last few years. Seems Sonic is becoming big again all over the place, not just for the fans like me who like every game just because it has Sonic in it.

I love their integrative approach. Being both a fan of the classic Sonic games and the future generation, I can't say I'm not looking forward to this on the 3DS

With Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations being recent titles, I can say that the blue blur is beginning to improve and make a comeback. I honestly can't wait for Sonic Lost World. It's one of the main reasons I'm getting a Wii U, in fact

Ditto. I don't have a Wii-U yet and I always planned on getting one but this game alone ensures that it is my next console. I supposed I can always get the 3DS version to hold me off but why do that when I can save the money for the console itself?

Can't wait for this new game to hit store shelves. The concept is interesting and the gameplay and graphics look stellar. Can't wait to see what Dr. Robotnik and Sonic decide to do to stop the deadly six. I'm glad that Sonic is making a good comeback in the gaming world. I was feeling sad for the blue blur but these newer games are definitely putting him back on the charts.

I dunno what it is but I have never liked Mario, his friends or his world. Except for Paper Mario and Mario&Luigi because they actually have more unique and interesting stuff in their worlds and characters.

 

I've always been a Sonic fan through thick and thin. The Mario RPGs are the only thing that he's done better than Sonic since Sonic's only RPG was The Dark Brotherhood which could have been better but I wish they'd have at least tried again.

Please tell me Sonic 06 is not the only Sonic game you've ever played. The games have improved MASSIVELY since then, especially from Colors and onward.

 

Although I may be misreading your post entirely. If you're saying that if you had to choose between the two to play that makes a bit more sense.....

Sonic 06' isn't the only Sonic game that I've played, but I got to admit that the games did improve with graphics and gameplay. Everything really did improve in the past and present.

Mario look stupid and the games are way too easy, but thousand year door was a great rpg.

 

I had Sonic 3 and 4 on the gameboy, the top games you coud get on the gameboy after pokemon games.

I seriously miss Sonic, the games were great, and something horribly hard.

I also enjoy the Sonic cartoons and comics aswell so brohoof to you my good sir. I also don't really care for the Mario cartoons too much (that goes for both of us). The Mario RPGs especially the Mario and Luigi series are so funny and creative so I have to agree with your point there. I also love his main entries like Super Mario Sunshine and the spin-offs like Mario Kart and Mario Party a whole lot too. I really can't choose which one I like more so I'm gonna do the honest thing and not choose. lol Sonic and Mario forever!

Honestly, the only Sonic game I really like is Sonic Adventure 2. Mostly cause the Chao! I'm not a fan of the old Sonic games so I'm too excited about the 'back to his roots' thing. I've never been particularly fond of the Chao stuff. The characters themselves are absolutely adorable but the gardens? Eh.....not enough control, too much grinding, too much chance and not nearly enough instruction for my tastes. Never was much a fan of having to raise things in video games. Didn't do Chocobos in Final Fantasy VII much either.

 

And I agree about wanting them to try new things. I also kinda want them to get rid of the cartoony color-coded, candy crap that the stories have become. Colors had some decent humor but the story just didn't feel like it went anywhere. Generations was generally the same but less funny.

Yup that was one of the first  things that it reminded me of. That and Mario galaxy because of how the levels were made especially the cylinder shape of the platform seen in the very first trailer that was released. All of the land that Sonic trends on in this game seems to be floating up in the sky or something which also makes my comparison all the more valid.

While not carbon copies they do look similar.

Also the reason why alot of people consider Sonic's new games to be a "comeback" is merely because the games that he has been in before Sonic Unleashed were poorly received by most people. Heck even Unleashed was panned due to the simple fact that not alot of people wanted to play as the Werehog. After Colors was made and when Sonic Team started focusing on the good aspects of the Sonic series things started to pick up. Of course this would all be true were it weren't for the fact that Sonic has been doing really good on the portable systems but I'm talking about the console releases here.

Indeed. Anyone who knew about Xtreme's non-existence saw it as soon as the Lost Worlds reveal trailer showed. I think Sonic Team even acknowledge that it was the intent of the game to go with a sort of Xtreme style when the levels were being made.

 

Here's something for you: Did you know Xtreme is actually one of three prototypes that were all scrapped before Sonic Adventure was created?

 

I have enjoyed every Sonic game to date to some degree. Not just because it's Sonic (though that fact made me love them by default cuz that's how I work) but because I genuinely enjoyed every single game in the series. I liked Unleashed, Black Knight and Secret Rings and feel that while each did something wonky one way or another they brought out some of the best things in the series as well. Both Secret Rings and Black Knight had mind blowing soundtracks and amazingly designed aesthetics for the levels. I would argue that Black Knight has the best soundtrack in the series.

 

Sonic was never gone for me but what do I know? I'm just a crazy Sonic fanboy by normal gaming society's standards.

Wow I actually did not know that it was one of three prototypes for Sonic Adventure. Groovy.

 

On a related note I too am a major Sonic fanboy (as you can see) and that's partially also why I tend to overlook some things in some of the games released between (05-09) like shadow,  06, secret rings, and black knight. I don't think that they are that bad in all honesty. I also have to agree and say that "The Palace that was Found" and Knight of the Wind" are definitely on the top of my fav Sonic music list. Long live the blue blur!

I wouldn't say they were necessarily prototypes for Adventure specifically but Adventure is the one that actually came into being after the other three were scrapped. One of which hardly had more than Sonic's avatar and a few tracks laid out with no aesthetics added to them.

 

One of them was actually supposed to be a stealthy platformer to go along with the SatAM cartoon but it never got finished which makes me somewhat sad.
