I think anyone who lists those as their favorite Christmas movies is cheating because those are just movies of other genres that happen to be set at Christmastime, but to each his own.

I would say so. Even though the Nostalgia Critic cheats on his second Christmas special list by putting Die Hard at #1, he at least knows that many consider that cheating and he makes the clear distinction between that and a movie like Home Alone (which was on his first list).

 

Die Hard is not a Christmas movie to me. It's an action movie that uses Christmas as a backdrop, but there's really nothing about the holiday itself in it. In Home Alone, the Christmas season is very integral to the movie's plot and its message. That's what really makes the difference.
